A band who just didn't hit the - so called - "big time"... but what a gem of a band !!! Their songs still send shivers down my spine. What a great band, everytime I listen to a Triffids record they move me and that's what counts !
Yes I agee sends shiver down my spine and yes they move me to That feeling of love gained and lost loneliness alchol and addiction that david sings about so well In my top 5 singer writers
I saw them back in 1987 in Belgium, Rock Torhout/Werchter, just after they released Born Sandy Devotional. The following years I kept claiming that was the best ever live performance I'd ever seen. A quarter of a century later I wondered if that was a correct statement. Finding and seeing this video reminds me that I was right at the time. Truly amazing band, very emotional performance, great live band indeed. They made the 80's bearable..
Still great to listen to! In the late eighties I was very fond of this band and listened to their records as a lonely student. Now... about 25 years later I still love this music and not only for sentimental reason. It still sounds so great and moves me!
Thaks so much from a Dutch die hard fan.I was a Triffids concert in Holland(Groningen) in 1988,open air,in the rain and no more than 30 fans.We sang every song out loud and it is still probably my most memorable concert memory(The Gun club as an entree-can you believe it??)I would love to find Personal things on You Tube though-can anybody help me?
Just fantastic. I've just seen them in Sydney as part of the Sydney Festival. I videoed most of the remaining Triffids performing this song with Steve Kilbey doing the vocals. It was just superb. This is my all time fave Triffids number. I've been listening to a few bootleg tapes I have with it on, but nothing beats seeing the footage to go with it. Thanks again
That is ThaNks and I was AT the concert of course....it,s late......sorry. But since I have your attention;Nothing can take your place....why is that not on You Tube????Such a beautiful modern day country song,I just love it!Come on all you Aussies, dig in to your old concert registrations and make a huge Triffids fan in Holland so very very happy...........
I get a bit of a Joy Division vibe from Stolen Property. It reminds me a bit of the Joy Division song, Atmosphere, in particular. And that bass sounds like an homage to Peter Hook.
Its insane to think this wasnt a massive smash hit. Popular music is such a pile of shit, its destroyed any chance of anything like this ever happenning again.

This is one of the best comments on social media I've seen in quite a while.
Still gives me goosebumps after 25 odd years.
Mein Gott ist das schön. Immer noch, nach all den Jahren.....
Ja, wahnsinn.
Und es ist so lange her
seit ich mich in
"Burry me deep in love "
verliebt habe .
@@ritahorvath8207 Höre dir mal "Tender is the Night " von den Triffids an. Da habe ich jedes Mal Tränen in den Augen...

Tears of happiness. Just a great friend can put it in his face. R.I.P. David ........... We missed you....
Best track on Born Sandy Devotional and a joy to see this. And they say the 80s was a poor decade for music!
I was there at Waterpop in 88. Classic festival (check the line-up) and the only time I saw Triffids live. Magic.
Geez! Perth's question and answer to Melbourne's Nick Cave! If only David was with us today!
david mccomb lives in his music.
thank you!

@Darrin Matteson
It’s a really good thing to sound like that. Too bad this was the only album that used that sound.

Dave McComb...gone way too early :(
