The water condensing within the kettle returns the latent heat of vaporisation to the contents so that would not contribute to extra energy being needed. The heat loss is more likely to be simple conduction through the body of the kettle.

Just that energy = mass x SHC so 0.5 x 334,000 = 167,000J

I think you needed more energy because the kettle lid was on. A portion of the evaporated water fell back into the kettle.
