these been a few cases where target/walmart/ any place has caught elderly, and helped htem before it was too late. now walmarts have signs on self checkouts that say something abt it and fraud.
I'm a police officer and I've been called to a few different stores when elderly people buy gift cards and the clerk talked to them about what they were up to. There's been plenty of times I've had cases where the victim went through 10s of thousands and you know there were plenty of people that knew what was happening and let it go. Even more disappointing is the cases where I've laid the situation out clearly and let them know in no uncertain terms that they were being taken advantage of and their money was stolen, and they are so deep in the scam that they refuse to believe me and willingly keep sending more money anyway. I'm sure lots of people working checkout counters have told elderly people not to buy the cards and the victim told them "mind your business" and bought them anyway.
At the end of the day.. They don't get paid enough to help people not to get scammed, they work there and if someone wants to buy them then they're just doing their job. It comes down to people wanting to help outside of their job description.

As someone who has worked in a grocery store, part of the in store training you receive for customer service/money transfer is identifying suspicious transaction requests. People taking instructions over the phone, and people requesting gift cards especially Elderly people are considered suspicious, and we are pressed to question why they are transferring money, and inform them they might be being scammed.

My computer was "disabled" by that flashing message. I wrote down the number and promptly shut off. I called that number and asked "Where are you located?" He said "San Fransisco" I asked him to please put someone on the line with an American accent, as I'm having trouble understanding you people. Long pause....I said I know you can't because you aren't in the US. I hung up. Then he called me back (from a different number) and yelled at me for hanging up! I'm a retired 64 year old and I want to fuck with these people! I have all the time in the world. Thank you so much for these videos!

i was a caretaker for an elderly Indian woman who had early onset alzheimer’s with dementia for about 2 years until she passed. one day i was listening to kits videos while making her breakfast and she started to laugh hysterically, i asked her what was so funny and she said, “ that man just said some very foul things and said she was driving him mad”. from then on, we would watch kitboga videos together and she would translate what they were saying in hindi and Tamil she would laugh so hard and it was the only time of the day where she really came into the present and was truly happy.

They called my grandma saying she owed 3,000 on her electricity bill. My poor grandma was so worried. Thankfully she doesnt drive and lives on a farm away from the city. She waited until my uncle got home and told him she had to pay. He knew that sounded fishy so he called the actual PG&E and they told him she didnt owe anything. Thankfully my uncle saved my grandma from that scam because she was prepared to pay. People that do this are horrible people.

My grandmother just got scammed for like $3k. Gave a guy her whole stimulus check. It took the all my aunts and uncles to cover her bills so she could keep her house. I hate these people. So glad he is fighting the good fight.
