To prevent that from happening to your net, remove one of the end caps on either end of the handle and measure the I.D. (inside diameter). Go to your local Menards, Lowes, Home Depot etc. and purchase a wood dowel the proper diameter for your particular net. Cut to length of handle and insert, drill any appropriate holes as needed for slide mechanism. Replace end cap. You have now increased the strength of the net without sacrificing floatation.
Bent my net handle a few months ago, replaced it with thick wall 1.5" EMT conduit, comes 10 feet long you can cut to whatever length you want. Worked perfect, even the plastic handle off the old net shaft fit it perfectly. Much stronger than the thin aluminum net handle ever was.
You know how you keep your net from folded and half. When you buy it, Brad knew you take a heat gun. Heat up the rubber handle, find a wooden dial the length of the handle. That's a little smaller slight it down the handle. You're won't kick no more if it does king, it'll keep the net instead of the handle.
What they made fog horns for. Maybe Dave should consider taking the Coast Guard Boating Class. It covers fog/weather conditions and safety while on the water. Cheers
Dave laugh out loud just a note, I got so sick of people encroaching on my fishing , I got on Ebay and found some people selling patches for shirts and bought some game and parks patches for the state I'm In. I sewed them on my shirt and jacket. Low and behold the fishermen see me and take off, its hilarious, if i go camping with my fifth wheel people will be gone next morning around me. It's great. I wonder what their doing that their afraid of game and parks people.
I wouldn't advertise on the internet that you are illegally impersonating an officer, you can be charged with a misdemeanor or even a felony for posing as such. Just a friendly suggestion

I used to like to talk to the people crossing the river. I would point at the emblem and then I tell them, la migra esta en la Playa. The immigration authorities are on the beach! Usually they would would turn back to try on a better day.
I am a cheap son of a gun, I would open the broken handle ends and insert a single heavier pipe inside the ends and duck tape it back together. I am sure you thought of that already.
Dave I've never fished it but up in lake OAHE in South Dakota depths out in the channel on this stretch of the Missouri River go down over 200 feet I seen some water around 230 ft deep would cats hide down there ? What's your take. I have never been a fishing guru of deep water, but I notice you saying I'm out in the channel trying to find deep water alot. Show.
You need to get Steve Douglas to hook you up with a Monster Rod Holder net. With all your subs seeing you boat those big fish in a Monster net it would be great advertising for them. And they are great nets.

This is the second net I've seen Dave break. He's been told about using the side of the boat as a pivot point and multiple of things to put in the handle.
In my entire life of catfish and I've never caught one that big to me. That's to you, it's just decent fish in Montana where I live. We don't have big fish like that. As far as I know in the milk river. I don't know about for pack Lake. I know that there's some big ones in the Missouri river that flows through our state. Good job
On your next net take the plastic grip off and insert a wooden broom handle in it and cut it to length then replace the grip. If broom handle don't fit tight the get a larger wood rod. Never break a handle again
l’ve been a catfish fisherman since l was a kid, and rule of thumb is, never go bye your self, take backup with you, especially if you go after 50 plus pounders, you’ll need help
WOW... You have to love what you do. That looks like being on Lake Marion, or probably most any lake in deep fog. When I was a kid, fishing with my Dad, in the fog and Mr. Davis the man that owned Goat Island resort, way back then, would stand on the dock blasting a fog horn, so we could find our way back in. Hey Dave. Do flatheads go dormant there like they do up north? In northern Illinois we only got about 6 months to fish for them. Well really 4 months bc the bite is so slow spring and fall.
Flat heads have summer hole and winter hole. Winter hole is deepest. Range about half mile from the hole they are in. A university crew put radio on them and watched them move around.wish. i had some flathead in the freezer. Best eating of all of them.2 of us wrestled an 84 pound flathead up the bank. Mud and blood.. hehe.

The handle is for netting the fish, not holding the weight! The net holds the weight. Maybe TH-cam propper net usage, lol
I did the same thing except i used the fiberglass handle from an extendable paint roller. Took the inner part out and the net hoop screwed right on.
