Cycling in Melbourne 413

Every time I think of Melbourne, I think of the film "On the Beach", and that sad, sad song, "Waltzing Matilda", being repeated all through it, which is supposed to be a reflection the Australian mentality. I know they named some streets there after some of the actors.

So what's your opinion on here versus Brisbane or Sydney for cycling provisions or popularity? I've been to those two cities before. But not to Melbourne.
