  • learn an easy way of "how to make a gravity light at home". This is a DIY Science experiment which can be tried at home or as a school project. A few months ago we had made a hand-cranked torch and since many parts were lying around, it occurred to me that we can make a gravity-based lamp too, that doesn't require someone cranking it.

      when i lift the weights then the other side goes down freely without effecting the motor because of the ratchet mechanism (from the cycle back wheel). When the weight side comes down then the ratchet gets locked and makes the motor/dynamo rotate

After one weight touch the ground simple switch release another weight to continuely generate power. Then you can put flywheel to smooth out the rotation.

      @anisshaikh3313 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dartofscience yes sir, u R right. I took up this same apparatus as my project when I was in final year of engineering. Our team installed a cycle wheel and connected it with a dc motor by a V-belt so as to transmit the power from wheel to motor.After installing a cycle wheel , the torque required to rotate the wheel along with the shaft of d.c motor was increased by a great amount. Because of which we were required to increase the weight which hung on the chain. After doing this we achieved an increase in time but it ultimately increased the torque requirement by significant amount due to which the the motor broke down twice while testing. So one thing which we realised was that power generated and time of descent of weight were the tradeoffs. We cannot achieve both simultaneously. Either of them has to compromise. I am no expert in this field but in my opinion if it is possible to install a mechanism which would maintain a moderate value of torque without affecting the time of descent , then it could be a viable off grid electrification solution especially for the poor vegetable vendors who sell the vegetables after 6.00 pm . But off course it requires further modifications indeed. But the concept is very interesting. Thanks for the video.

    Gravity is a real weakling - 1040 times weaker than the electromagnetic force that holds atoms together. ... According to string theorists' best ideas, gravity is so weak because, unlike the other forces, it leaks in and out of these extra dimensions. We only get to experience a dribble of the true strength of gravity. Actually, gravity is the weakest of the four fundamental forces. Ordered from strongest to weakest, the forces are 1) the strong nuclear force, 2) the electromagnetic force, 3) the weak nuclear force, and 4) gravity.
