- Today We will Make an Anti-gravity Structure like Tensegrity structure with popsicle sticks. Tensegrity is a design principle that applies when a discontinuous set of compression elements is opposed and balanced by a continuous tensile force, thereby creating an internal prestress that stabilizes the entire structure. Anyone can make this very Easily for their Science or School Project.

How this "anti gravity" structure works:
So when you look at the strings you see that if one string bends, all other ones get stretched, but due to the tensile resistance they get pulled back, and it gets back to the original positon. If the top tries falling down, the center string gets tensed and that causes it to return back up. If the strings of one or two corners fall, the other corners (and usually the center too) get tensed and pulls it back up. Basically it retains its integrity through it's tensile resistance, thus it's called Tensile-Integrity (Tensegrity) structure.

@@rodshoafNo, not rope. Use clear strong fishing line. That way, at first glance the two parts will bear no resemblance to each other and appear to be floating free. Use nice wood and finish it nicely and put a piece of glass on top. Make a super little mug table.

Just to be accurate, it's a tension-suspension device. If gravity did exist (it does not aside from in science fiction) then you have a much simpler device. It's call a Helium balloon or another is a hot air balloon. Those are both "gravity defying" devices. Gravity is itself a bunch of hot air.

Duntov was just a project manager. My father made a small cable tensegrity mast which at 4’ tall stood proudly in the corner of the family living room for years. How do you determine the angle and length of the center posts?
Bro, I almost break my head trying to figure this out, I even made a representation in geogebra (LOL). I got the answer: the angle is 60° and the leng is the height of the triangle you made (base or top, both are the same). I tried different angles and lenghts, It may work but the distance between the center posts always gonna be the same.

According to physics, there's no anti gravity thing here. central thread holds the upper triangle, where bottom triangle act as a base. If we extends central thread, or draw a line along with the central thread, it passes the center of gravity on both triangles. It means if you put it up side down, still work as the same. Other threads helps to balance the top triangle. Its creative, however no anti gravity phenomenon here, according to my knowledge. Cheers!
