    I am so grateful I saw this. It’s been a very hard year for me, and to give attention to complicated crafts was not my ability to do. Yet I desired to give a gift for a few friends, and here’s one I can do! Thank you!

    Great idea! 🤔 Only I missed the part in the supply list where you told us we would need to grow a third hand to help with the glue gun. 😂😋 Love it when the Littles can help with a project. This would be a great teacher or Sunday school gift. Thanks for sharing. 🎄

    Hello! I’m currently doing this project and I’m not sure if the problem is my mod podge (the gloss one) because it’s thick so when I attempted to apply the layer to seal the salt, the rocks fell off a little and after letting to dry (the sealing layer) some areas of the jar were completely empty because the salt fell off completely there. So I reapplied another layer of salt without sealing it! Now I’m gonna let it dry until tomorrow! Do you think I should use another mod podge? Yours looks more fluid! ** thanks for sharing**

    Was wondering though. I saw a picture of such jars and it looked like they had fake snow at the bottom. Can one do those extra? Or just all snowflakes (they are cheaper than Epsom salt where I live)?

    Hello! I just finished my first one of these. It's on transparent plastic (I needed an unbreakable luminaria) and the weirdest thing happened: I applied my Mod Podge, rolled the jar in epsom salt, and the first challenge was that, when I very lightly brushed on another coat of Mod Podge to seal my work, the salt wanted to just come right off. The second was the weirdness: Water or some sort of liquid began to accumulate around the bottom of the jar. I can't find anything online about this. I'm guessing I need to stick with glass jars in order to avoid both issues?

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gosh, I'm not sure I've never tried on plastic before. Plus I don't think you would want a real candle burning inside plastic or it will melt. I would stick with glass :)

    • @vittoriaconn958
      @vittoriaconn958 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no no…mine is a completely different design: A baby mouse, asleep, with some more details around his “room,” and a string of battery operated fairy lights illuninating the scene. (I don’t even trust glass jars as candle holders; I’m a battery operated fairy light/votive/tea light person.

    • @vittoriaconn958
      @vittoriaconn958 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should explain further: What I needed from your tutorial was the method for “frosting” a clear jar. In my design, I’m frosting all but a clear opening in the front where the viewer can observe the scene.
      I did a quick Google after I queried you, and apparently Mod Podge is unpredictable on plastic. I’ll try glass next time. But thanks for your response, and for the very nice tutorial!

    • @jocelyn4873
      @jocelyn4873 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used glass jars, and I had a similar problem with the epsom salt not sticking when I went to do the second coat of Mod Podge, it was coming off. What did I do wrong?

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Um, I'm not sure, I used mod Podge :) But I'm sure if you do a little internet search for a Mod Podge substitute you'll find something that will work.

    Could you help me. I'm UK and don't have mod podge. I used pva glue but my epsom salts all melted?? Why do you think this happened?

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, according to Google, PVA is thinner and has a higher moisture content so maybe that's why it melted the salts? Maybe try a tacky white glue like Elmer's and just thin it down a little bit, but not too much.

    • @nannyval49
      @nannyval49 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erica_arndt thank you. I so want to do this, but it was quite funny watching the salts slowly melting and sliding of, obviously a snow melting look 😂 the correct glue is definitely needed. Maybe I'll have to spend out or mod podge on Amazon.
