Normally, one of the gears would be pushed by a spring, or pulled by a weight hanging on a string. You'd have to wind up the clock manually from time to time. But here, the weight is directly attached to one of the wheels, and a small electrical motor is responsible for getting it up again, so that gravity can do its thing. And that's exactly what happens at 00:16. While I'm not a fan of electrical parts in wooden clocks, I must admit that this is a beautiful solution for driving the clock.
Joel Bernstein using a switch and gravity, an electric motor is engaged to "climb" the gear to a higher position. With that additional weight higher on the gear, gravity pulls it down adding force to the going train keeping the clock running. It's technical term is called a "remontoir ". Hope this helps

Great design, I wonder where you rewind it ? Is it a spring or a weight powered clock ?
Weight-powered but a battery operated thingy drives the weight back up every four minutes or so.
The gears look beautiful. But I couldn't figure out the part that moves at 00:16
