An unmodified Evoque with a driver who obviously doesn't know how to off road and stock road biased tyres kept up with a modified duster with mud tyres. Just put some mud terrain tyres on the Evoque and a more competent driver and it will beat the Duster
@@mikeb53 Driving on street tyres is a grievous mistake according to me. The least the driver could do is to install some more aggressive AT tyres (unless specified all Land Rovers come with some form of AT tyres from the factory)
@@LordTechPro all terrain or mud terrain tyres and smaller rims cost a quite a lot of money. I bought a set of compomotive pd1881 18" rims for my disco 4 and some cooper st max tyres... that package set me back nearly £2000 GBPs. Unless you're going to drive off road regularly a tyre and rim change to that effect is not worth the money. In any case I thought the range rover ejoke driver did quite well considering their car was totally stock.
@@mikeb53 AT tyres are worth the money though. Since they use harder rubber they are much more durable than HT tyres and because they also have a deeper tread they last for longer. Not only that the latest AT tyres such as the Pirelli Scorpions have a more balanced tread pattern which can reduce the noise and rolling resistance AT tyres are known for. Otherwise you can spec your Land Rover to have even more caressive AT tyres from the factory (though you won't really need it). Mud terrain tyres are basically useless if you only go off roading once a year or so. All I'm saying is that since you shouldn't drive on summer tyres during the winter when the roads are icy or packed with snow, the same should apply for mud and ruts. You think the Duster had highway tyres? It looked like it was lifted and had AT or MT tyres fitted to it.
@@LordTechPro Land Rovers don't come with AT tyres from factory , except Defender. On the video , mine were ATs but pretty much worn out 50 % by that time. And not aggressive thread at all.
Let's face it the Duster is cheap & cheerful & the driver went for it coz he couldn't be arsed about it. The land Rover is worth twice as much thats why he was so cautious I would be crap idea anyway
Look , you can make any point of it , and I could have diverted you to any point with my edit of this video . For example I could show you several attempts that Dacia had before a succesfull climb of that hill . And I could show you just this single succesfull climb of that Evoque. This would've mislead you in the other direction . While in fact the point is , that this hill was a little demanding to both cars and you could not make it slowely. A little kinetic energy was required , as was presented with the Evoque attempts without any cuts. Also - both cars are modified , but Duster is changed havier. Evouque has a slight lift and worn out AT tyres, skid plate under the engine , and CB radio. The Duster's driver was keen on bashing the car all over the forest , which was not the case for Evoque's driver. Take care.
Some of these off road videos are sort of ridiculous fit the two cars with the same off road tyres and let's all see their capabilities...the Range was struggling for nothing because of bad tyres and a little blame goes to the driver too.
The Duster was struggling too. I did not show all the attempts Duster had , before it climbed. With that little throttle at first I was testing the hill , the traction and the AWD system, which might have been a little heated at that time. Thanks for your comment.

We tested Evoque vs Duster (and Freelander, Tiguan, X-Trail etc) It was basically unanimous. The Evoque is way superior off road. Here's the video: th-cam.com/video/v9txVtgfbhQ/w-d-xo.html
Yes I have come across your videos in the past , and I was not suprised with what I saw. Evoque wins in off-roading with all middle market SUVs, and even its legacy Freelander 2. Its is better . I took it to many places and did plenty of overlanding in it with a bigger fellow cars in convoy. It did extremely well. I have recorded many shots but have not done videos yet. Maybe I will to prove the point.
No, it wasn't easy go Duster. It had many attempts too, which were not shown. The Evoque's run is uncut, gently approached the obstacle to test if there is enough clearance.

More like 3x as much for an Evoque. Even a 2014 is still £22k £10k for a new duster and £30k for an evoque
