There has never been such a thing as a moral system as far as I know in any of the MoW games, so the individual units don't fight any stronger. But by combining units into a squad they will win more engangements because suppression is a mechanic in the MoW games; a singular rifleman won't be able to supress a unit properly, but 3 or 4 of them might be able to, meaning that it will seem like your units fight better because in reality the enemy will fight worse because of your massed firepower.
