I been rewatching the show and I have to say that is even better than when I first watched it. There are things that happened in season 1 & 2 that the show runners still managed to connect to latest seasons.
I have a crazy theory about Kasius and Sinara and why they're such great villains, especially in comparison to Douchebro (only in 2 episodes, nowhere near as important or interesting, actual name not worth remembering). Now, they're all Pure Evil, genocidal monsters, but Kasius and Sinara have a compelling quality to them that Douchebro lacks, and I think that's deliberate. My theory is that Kasius=AoS showrunner Jed Whedon, Sinara=Jed's wife and co-showrunner Maurissa Tanchareon, and Douchebro=none other than Joss Whedon. Think about it. The Whedons come from a long line of a family of Hollywood screenwriters. Douchebro/Joss is the respected/acclaimed brother whom everyone thinks is the Greatest. He's really made his mark in the Confederacy/MCU, while Kasius/Jed was shunted off to a backwater, Earth/Agents of SHIELD, that the higher ups in the Confederacy/MCU clearly don't give a crap about. Yet within that limited way, Kasius/Jed has been able to succeed and even flourish, thanks mainly to his badass woman partner Sinara/Maurissa who "came from nowhere" (Maurissa's father is a Hollywood transportation coordinator, which might seem like "from nowhere" to a family of elite screenwriters). For all his past triumphs and undeniable achievement with The Avengers, Joss burned out on Avengers: Age of Ultron, a film with a mixed reception to say the least (personally I *overwhelmingly* prefer Thor: The Dark World over AoU, just sayin'), and hasn't really done much of anything in the four years since then (by the summer of what is now this year, it'll be five years). But Jed, with Maurissa by his side, is still very much a part of the MCU. Despite having nowhere near the budget or the audience of an MCU movie, Agents of SHIELD still stands, the longest running MCU tv show by far, having now outlasted all the MCU tv shows that came after it. It's fanbase is every bit as devoted as ever, and is even gaining some, such as the Normies. It's only now coming to an end, mainly because Jed and Maurissa are ready to pack it in and, unlike all the other MCU tv shows, they are being allowed to end it on their own terms. When Sinara kills Douchebro's henchman (no idea who that could be based on) and Kasius kills Douchebro, it's hard not to root for them.

Multiverse theory - every decision creates a new timeline. Picture a white string. That’s the main timeline of AoS that we had been watching for seasons 1-4. End of season 4 the team got sent to the future. At that moment there is a red string is tied on. (The white string would have been if the team never got sent to the future.) So for season 5 we are now on the red string. Remember Fitz’s theory from 3x15 Spacetime that time is fixed. As soon as the red string was created it made a whole future that was set and can’t be changed. The team got sent up ahead on the red string (future) while Fitz was left behind at the beginning of the red string. Part of the red string timeline is that the team returns to their own time (start of the red string) and following along that string it all happens again with the world breaking up, the Kree coming, and so on. It doesn’t even have to be the same red string that they go back to. They could jump back and do slightly different things (new strings created each time)- but they have the same ending of the world breaking apart. (Avengers: Infinity War - millions of possible futures and only one outcome where they win.)
