I love focusing of the main object of the painting. So I liked modern one more I guess. However, I also like the reflections of the main object around the painting like the first one. İt's hard to decide 😅
I really love the colors in the first painting, and I find the greys in the new one a bit drab (by comparison). It's not so much that the new one has anything wrong with it (it's fantastic), but that first one when I saw it really jumped out and spoke to me. The pear in the new one is just incredible though, so my answer is - the new pear in the original setting. :)
I think your own comment was spot on: the original has a timeless classic feel - hang it on the wall next to my aunt's portrait, sure why not? The second is clearly more modern, and would need to be next to modern art. The only thing that doesn't appeal about the second one is the overwhelming gray around it. It's too much "neutral", given the pear isn't a very vibrant colour. Were the pear brilliant orange or dazzling pink, the gray would be needed to relax the eyes. But the green isn't that powerful that it needs all that gray to neutralise it. So make sure you hang it next to something bright, or on a very powerfully coloured wall.
To me, the old one was done by a "good student", an artist who needs approval. The second one has the maturity of someone who assumes who and what he is, despite the opinion of others. C'est superbe !
I think the opposite is true, the second one caters even more to the current common mainstream opinion of others by using the contemporary/modern style that has saturated our art world right now
@@vcat724 That's precisely why I think second is "better" nowadays: simplicity is popular because is useful, not otherwise. It tells the same story than the first piece, but in less time.
Enjoyed seeing more of your set up process. Neither painting is "better". They are different. Style, look, feel, mood. Your old painting I would hang in my dark library/study or near the fireplace in my local pub. The new one would go in my modern white and grey granite kitchen or in a contemporary restaurant.
I normally don't like paintings of fruits because they're boring, but you have the eye to turn everything so crunchy and vibrant. This is so fun to watch!
I prefer more "classical" looking paintings in general. However, the new version is so refreshing and unique in its own way. Also, anyone could've made a generic sort of classical pear painting. The new one, however, obviously has your unique take on it and that's what makes it better. The old one is just a pear. The new one is Alpay's pear.
I feel warmth from the appearance of the yellow pear painting plus it seems like a soft pear variety. I see the base of the wood giving balance to the composition. When I see your most recent painting, I see a very colorful green and crispy pear although I am not in agreement with the gray background, although I do like the addition of stem and leaf to the pear. Bravo to your personal appearance and sponsorship with Winsor & Newton.
I like both. They each show that you have mastered different styles. Each one gives the viewer a different experience. You should make this a series. It’s inspiring to me as a somewhat beginner artist.
tbh I like the pear from 10 years ago more. The details of the backdrop and wood it's sitting on make the pear appear very special. The rendering on your newer pear pops more though. I like both!
congratulations on the sponsorship Those little elements are still the ones that I often realize are missing when I start doing a piece, I always end up having to go back and figure out what would fit right to change it up. I appreciated that you mentioned how in time you got to the point where you can see them right away.
Loved it , comparing an old style with the modern style of the same pear was eye opening for me .I personally love both old and new styles . How ever I am completely inspired by the new contemporary colors and style . Now I am going to try the contemporary style ! !! As always loving & learn from you !!!
I like both of them for different reasons. I like the warmth, simplicity, and cleanness of the first. But the second is more edgy and expressive. So if I was looking to hang a painting of a pear, then I'd be happy with either. Nice work.
I have so many painting I got frustrated with and set aside. I have had two years of health issues and am excited to start again. Thank you for the inspiration!!
Love the pear in the second painting. Brush stoke, color, and visual texture are all handled with expertise. The neutral gray background, however, is something i never allowed my students to experiment with, including true black and true white.
This is so amazing and it reminds me of son's drawing. I am keeping all of his art work. As a young boy he was able to draw objects dramatically. He is in heaven now. And this pear reminds me of sketch of the same fruit. God bless your heart for the art and bless your hands.
I'm happy you have your son's paintings as part of your memories of him. As you live with the pain of his loss they bring you comfort and a tangible reminder of him.
I am digging the new video style! A little bit of face time, visually sharing background process and set up, all in addition to the actual painting. Well done. 👏
I feel like he's the second best video narrator in the world, after Werner Herzog. Amazing accent. Also you can tell when he's getting toward the end of the video without even checking the time, just going by his inflection.
The old version looks like it belongs to a museum. Its beautiful yet I wouldn't hang in on my wall. So def the new one. Feels like it's not detailed as the old one but much more fresh.
I like both paintings and would happily hang both on my wall. Love the voluptuous 3 dimensionality of the pear in the modern version, love the contrast and severe composition of the old...
Both are beautiful. I liked more the first one. I think it is because my style, but I loved to know two different situations. It was the most important here. A different point of view of the same subject. Kudos!
Alpay has become a pro in video editing too! I love how he has improved the format of his videos! There's so much effort put into them, even more than before. I mean, look at how he set the lighting, the color grading, the zoom effects, the shots. Wow, man! Huge respect! 👏👏👏 Btw, I would hang both paintings haha The old one is good for a kitchen, the new one could be in any room, tbh. It has that Alpay-ish look that we all love and admire. 👏👏👏
Wowhwo the difference! I got reminded, that it’s not (only) the subject, that’s making an painting interesting. I‘d hang up the second one. Idk why, it just speaks to me more
I like how you painted the table in an old painting, and the new version is just perfect in terms of shapes, colors, dimension of the pear, and overall cohesion 🙂
I honestly would hang either one on my wall, as they both have their aesthetic merits and I am a fan of many kinds of art. I personally would be happy to see anything you do for that reason and very much enjoy and appreciate your thoughts and philosophies on art in general. A few tips from previous videos have even helped me let go and look at things in a more positive way, making me enjoy my own art so much more.
This is exactly what I needed this morning ☺️ I love the warmth of your first painting. The style wasn't as contemporary but I loved your color choices. The new painting though is very much your current style and I love it ❤️
@@AlpayEfe My cats want t😀o know who I'm talking to when I make my videos. Then do that 'looking into the distanct' thing to spook me! They think its a competition. They win!
I love both pears. The colours were gorgeous on both. Being able to paint the First one was part of your journey to being the artist you are now. At nearly 60, I am just really staring my journey with Art, one day I will be able to call myself an artist. I am trying it all, oil, acrylic and watercolour. I love colour. At my age need to get cramming in the work and growing some skills.
I love how your style has developed over the years. It is so unique and vibrant, contemporary yet stylish. Thank you :-) Oh, love the current painting, so much more to look at and think about.
I like the second painting better. I find the clarity better and the pear has more interest in the shape, colors, brush strokes and texture. Also, the pear stands out as an object more. I like the way the other planes are done with abandon so there's no confusion as to where the interests is and where the eye should go. The second painting has a fresh spontaneous look but the the first painting looks labored with a black background that supposed look like dark Rembrandt like depth but fails to do so. So nice to see an artists progress in his work.
Love the new pear, as good as the old one is it just doesn't have as much character and energy. I've binge watched all of your videos in the last 24 hours and I've just ordered some oil paints. I haven't painted for 8 years but both you and your artwork is too inspiring, thank you and looking to the next video!
I have to say Alp I love seeing this new style of video. I LOVE seeing your face! And wow the way you paint so simple and almost willy nilly looking and the effect is so sophisticated.
I like the old one more, simply because I love this kind of style and all the old paintings. But i have to say, the new one is as brilliant as the other one. Great work!
I like both. I don’t think the old painting is boring. I really like the colors. It would fit right into my sage green and red kitchen with black & white checkered floor. The new painting is very nice, too. It’s a fresher look with cooler colors, which would fit right into my livingroom.
Love your videos. Both paintings were awesome. I would love either one. I’m a classical painter who would like to put a more modern twist in my work. You are very inspiring 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Definitely the 2nd one - is more vibrant (due to chosen colors), fresh and airy; I also like the simple graphic finish of the background contrasted with the 3-dimensional pear when the 1st one is more inspired in old masters paintings, a little bit too academic and too dark for me ;-) That's great opportunity of comparison - thank you for this and congrats!
Honestly, the modern one does look like something I would hang up in my wall. I like the colors that you picked. The first one is very dark and seems influenced by dutch masters. Not to my tastes but it could work for others. Thanks for the video.
Your videos keep getting better and better! Congrats on the continued rise of your career. I would hang both in my house, but lean more towards the new painting because I have a modern industrial look. 🤙
I think the biggest thing about what made it contemporary was the fairly bright background that's about the farthest away from classical art as could be, but style-wise the new painting has a lot more going for it for sure. Great stuff.
Really great! I never thought I’d hang a pear but that modern one would definitely have a home in my breakfast nook!💜🙌beautiful work, great video. Thanks!
