You could easily make the argument that fishing trawler isn't unlocked until you get the chunk you go to when you fail.

It’s not just an argument. It’s factual. You don’t have something unlocked until you’ve unlocked every chunk that thing requires to do. He’s going to ruin the series. I hope TH-cam bans him.

As someone who’s done a lot of afk trawler to get the pet and mantas, the “max” for 50% more fish, if it exists at all, is at 100 points (green). You don’t need to worry about contribution after 100, just be in the green at the end of the trawler. That’s also why u see so many people just afking the last few minutes of each round
Fun fishing trawler fact: A more recent update made it impossible to afk alch on the ship, giving dialog about being warned to not play with fire on the ship
I’m glad they nerfed the viability of Fishing Trawler it was just too good before.
Yet you can still light fires, and cook fish on the ship.

Hmmmm....random game update on Wednesday changes fishing trawler for the first time in years followed by a Josh Isn't Gaming episode about fishing trawler....interesting. I'm going to love to see the BOATI board next episode!

@@Augury13 I know the update was a nerf, but doesn't he pre-record his episodes out far in advance? That would mean quite a bit of using the method to get boosted rates.
@@sappyking111 Yea he does, but I hope that means he did get an advantage from it pre-nerf and he's not just saying it now, not realizing the nerf is gunna slow him down even more.
I checked the hiscores. He is already 81 fishing and 90 cooking, probably got that or close to it before the nerf
Definitely thinking he abuses it for huge xp at some point, but I saw hannanie in a screenshot of the xp abusing post so I imagine she might have been the one having fun with it for a video. Crossover episode maybe?
I've said it before and I'll say it again - your theme music slaps. The background is just sustained motifs from the main hook, and just gives a lovely little vibe that sets your vids apart.
The effort being put into these videos really shows. The smooth editing with all the details and just making every video enjoying to watch is amazing. Most people probably don't know how much time you put into every video but you should know that you're doing a great fucking job with these. Keep up the great content, king.

Now that you have access to 2(?) shooting star locations, getting the mining level for mithril should be pretty easy.
Wouldn't using Shooting stars then bump the mining requirement to 90 for a tier 9 star?
unlocking port khazard means when you finish the chunk SOOO many more chunks become available to roll because of the charter ships

as someone who watches one chunk series I am an advocate for chunkers being more flexible with their own rules

The plugin "interact highlight" helps a lot with the kraken tentacle hitbox :) the outline on the tentacle disappears while it's hitting the net and not interactable
I don't know if this comment is too late; but I have a method for Fishing trawler that doesn't need money. You gain contribution for filling a bailing bucket with water; but not emptying it. So simply fill your inventory with free buckets, fill them with water and then drop them on the ground. It does mean you will be below deck instead of up top for that WC/Crafting xp. However you can stay up top while the ship has no water, then go below only when it floods. It does mean the ship has to flood often enough to offset the loss of other contribution. With some convincing or help from friends/viewers you can get a trawler that intentionally floods the ship for free points.

However, depending on the grind, I do feel like that can be super daunting to a new chunker. It's definitely a welcome addition to the chunk picker, though! Hey! Yeah I had you in mind when we were working on that feature. Struts to 99 is another one that I think could use a limiter since it’s just so non-productive. Would love to hear more thoughts on the tool in a future video

I think most likely is that the red, yellow, and green tier gets you a nice increase compared to the last, but getting higher numbers within the same bracket is only a small increase.

the contribution bar and reward relationship is interesting, as the bar goes to 255 which is because that is just 1 byte of information (0-255 or 256 bits), and the 100 giving max rewards would make a lot of sense, and they just didn't bother to change the max contribution from the single byte of information. Interesting stuff!

It's been years since I did fishing trawler, but if I remember correctly you can fill your inventory with bailing buckets and just spam the last bucket in your invetory when the boat fills up with water and then empty the buckets when the water is gone. Just needed a couple of swamp paste to keep contribution up when the boat doesn't fill for a long time. Used that method to get the fishing outfit on my poor ironman.
Suggestion for the level limit feature.
Enter your max xp/hr in the skill you’re interested in and the maximum number of hours you would want to spend on a single grind. It calculates the max level achievable in that timeframe and takes off any tasks above it.
Another banger, I am praying for your sanity with this grind

Fishing Trawler was one of the grinds I was lucky enough to skip as I got my full angler outfit within my first 10 games!
My first game rewarded me with a single piece, second game rewarded me with 2 pieces from a single pull, and after 8 more games I got my last piece!
According to the wiki, this had less than a 1% chance to occur. The fact that I had 3 pieces with only 2 games played is also pretty crazy.

Were you able to use the broken fishing trawler method before it got nerfed 2 days ago? Would have made this chunk take 30 hours or less as exp rates were over 500k an hour with enough alts/people.
I'm pretty sure it was nerfed because of Josh discovering/popularizing it. I believe he's had some events to do just that - hopefully he took advantage of it and finished the grind before the nerf.
He probably discovered it lol.
He has 81 fishing in hiscores. Something tells me he abused the heck out of that bug, and almost certainly contributed to Jagex finding out about it and fixing it

Josh, I believe you should move the manta task to the fail chunk for trawler. Either that or formally mention that Trawler's fail chunk unlocks with Port Khazard if you want to keep khazard as a death chunk.
The editing is just phenomenal
I've been grinding at tempoross for the fish barrel and it's taking me a while. At the very least I can say I'm not stuck doing fishing trawler. Crazy that Jagex had to put in a patch for it, just like with Limpwurt grinding at KQ.

You may be able to make staves in your chunk to support the superheat smithing grind.
You should get broken staves from trawler and if you permit the use of someone's home through yanille portal, you can use the repair bench, or upgraded variant, to make a broken staff into a staff of fire.
He's an ironman, so can't use other people POH
The Angler set gives an xp % boost to Fishing. It isn't a lot of extra xp, but there is still some there
As a free2chunk'er, the maximum level for slow XP methods sounds like a great idea... I'm on my own almost death chunk, Al Kharid mine and furnace, so 70 smithing for an addie bar with only furnace-made gold from hand-mined stuff with a bronze pick... I'm thinking it could also be upgraded to increment every chunk, so now I have a 70 smithing goal, I could go like 50 smithing, then roll a chunk, and no matter what I roll I'll have to get 5 more levels, until I either get a suitably fast XP method, or I reach the original goal
One thing I would research is if the maximum contribution points changed over the years. Maybe 100 was the max back then? That could explain the green bar changing early.
