Hi Paul [OM0ET]. Many years ago when I was on CB using a Cobra 148 GTL-DX, I used an antenna of a similar design that I purchased at a radio ham fest/rally/event. To tune the SWR, I would adjust the ‘length’ of the loading coil by compressing or decompressing the loading coil length of the thicker/base end. There was no screw to adjust the length of the whip... only the coil. I nicknamed it ‘The Bed-Spring’. I got the SWR down to about 1.3 on channels 01 & 40 of the CB27/81 MPT1320 frequency band allocation here in GB/UK🇬🇧 and after more tuning I got an average of 1.5 across all bands including the then illegal frequencies, (ie AM & SSB) at the time. Since 2014, us ‘Brits’ can now legally own and operate CB radio between 26.995 & 27.99125MHz AM & FM (restricted to 4W ERP) and SSB (restricted to 12W ERP) under CEPT frequency band allocation. 73’s
Three or four ground radials off of the base of the antenna works wonders - give it a try it's only wire so cheap to do. Yes it looks silly but the performance gain is worth it. As always a great video in your calm and logical style Paul. 73 M7BLC.
Sure, 500 watts on the CB band. Odds are good that if you remove the black bottom piece on the antenna (the PL-259 adapter) you will find a 3/8-24 stud.
Nice antenna Paul, but it's a tad short at a max height of 5 feet (150 cm), it could be around 6 ft (180cm) long for even better efficiency and performance. I still have a 6.5 Ft tall antenna for CB band, big coil and the whole is made of steel. Best performer other than a full 1/4 wave antenna as it's closer in length.
Hi Paul, great review. I actually use the cbl561 and the mag base mount M916 with the Qt80 on Cb band. They are amazing tools. But I have a questione about the analyzer: were is possibile to purchase the Mini1300 analyzer? Many thanks for your attention 73 Riccardo

Looks like a great setup!
my good friend cb radio now who died a few years ago ( R.I.P old timer ), said that anything below SWR 1:1.5 is candy.
Looks like it could take more than 500 pep.... maybe with a long 1 pc stinger ?
Drops of water and snow will stop working this antenna. SWR rising drastically. I have had the same on my truck. 73!
Hey, let's put a HUGE exposed loading coil on it and the customer will think the antenna will put out a stronger signal. LOL all the way to the bank.
Yeah dont know whether to send signak through it or unblock my morning submarine from toilet with it.
What the YZER is?
Looks like a Toilet Plunger, I bet it "pushes out a good signal"", lol
