    Two years back, I purchased two stones that cost me more than this device. I still couldn't sharpen my knives. I purchased this device online recently. The instructions included had me confused. Thank you for a step-by-step easy method of using this amazing device.

    Set that angle from the blade not the casting. It's not always the same. To speed up angle setting you can take the time to cut tubes to slip over the vertical rod for each angle, That will also stop it moving down.

    I suggest aligning the knife so the edge is as parallel as possible with the clamp rather than aligning the back of the blade. Also, I would center the blade length-wise within the clamp. That will give the most consistent edge width and make it easier to get a similar setup when re-sharpening.
    My unrequested two cents.

      Worth every penny. In addition to your 2 cents, I’d test for a burr before flipping the blade, finish with a single stroke, very light stroke to knock the burr off and then strop to refine the edge and give it a mirror polish.

    I recieved it yesterday, and used a very dull knife, few minutes later the knife is as sharp as a razor blade.
    This kit is no joke I highly recommend. I paid 50$ it came with around 8 wetstones, 4 diamond stones, and 1 leather strop.
    I only used the diamond stones with clean cut results.

    I have consistently found that when you set your plad up, have all your angles measured, when you flip the knife over and just measure the blade angle and compare that to the previous side, there is as much as a 4 degree difference. That is significant. You can get the blade sharp, but not balanced. You end up with 2 significantly different bevel angles. So, I'm not talking about measuring the sharpening arm angle. Set your knife in the holding device, and measure the angle of the blade at the hilt. Flip it over and measure again. That ~4 degree angle is a problem.

    I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm th-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

    A little bit of unsolicited advice. When you’re sharpening, you want to go with your current grit until you develop a burr on the edge, which you can feel for. That burr is how you know that you’ve gotten all the way down to the apex of the edge. When you’ve done the second side of your edge, and you flip it, go right to the next grit, giving it another 5 strokes, imo, is just taking off more material.

    @Desy Cheng I have one on the way, ordered it before i saw this video. Just a point, not a criticism, i always measure my angles when sharpening, i don't trust anything manufactured, especially lower end scale products which is what these are. You should be checking the angle of the clamp on both sides, because if the clamp is out, you will never achieve a correct bevel, and if you can't get a correct bevel, you cannot get a truly sharp knife. Very helpful video, thanks for posting.

    • @com2stay
      @com2stay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have this thing. It's impossible to get the same angle on both sides with this clamp. I have been struggling adjusting the angle of the stone everytime I turn the knife around. I will start thinking about designing a total new clamp. This one is just horrible.

    • @cudgee7144
      @cudgee7144 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@com2stay Let's be honest these are cheap knock offs of varying quality. They are not honed and machined to specific tolerances, so getting equal or close angles on either side of the clamp is nigh on impossible. I got mine close by laying thin leather inside the clamp to balance it out, but every time you move it, the angles also move, even how tight you screw the bench mount can throw out the angles. If you can make a better clamp, you will probably have a good sharpener, but 2 things. Don't over tighten any of the screws, they strip out the thread very easily, and get yourself a ball joint clamp and get rid of the nylon one, it is a piece of junk. I just wanted to try this clamp system before i invested in a expensive model, glad i did, i don't like them, you cannot do alternating single strokes to hone your blade, you have to keep flipping the clamp over putting your angles out. I have a rest and flip by hand type on the way, same as the edge pro style, but made out of metal, with a couple of adjustments i am going to have a really good sharpener, that i can still get feel of the blade on the stone with my hand and a lot easier to use. These clamp types are not for me, but good luck with yours.

    • @com2stay
      @com2stay 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks cudgee. I still think that 6 or 5 degrees off is a lot for a sharpener meant to be helping with precision 🤣🤣. You bought the other ruixin to try it ?

    • @cudgee7144
      @cudgee7144 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@com2stay Anything over 1 degree off either side will stuff what you are trying to achieve, form your first bevel. I am going to strip mine apart for spares, the rest in the bin. No more Ruixin for me, i am going to try another brand called Cedita, they look good in the website advertising blurb, if they are as good as they look and i have some modifications in mind, should have a really good sharpener for $27 bucks US. If it is no good, same thing, strip it for spares and buy a original legit Edge Pro, i like them, and have all the stones for one already. I don't know what you are going to do, 6-5 degrees off is way too much. You can try and look at Robert Cuthill Ruixin Pro Knife Sharpener 15 Degree Adjustment on TH-cam. I tried his method and got it perfect, till i move the sharpener, then was our 2 degrees each side again. Have a look and try it, and let me know how you go when you get everything sorted, interested to know.

    Just from the video of you using it, it seems like it would have been better if the stones were wider, since they were rolling (slanting) left and right a little as you move it across the edge and you had to hold the handle to prevent that? I was hoping to only move the handle for the sliding action but no need to maintain proper contact of the stone.

    In owning this as well as a few other "sets" with the same concept of this method of sharpening,
    I'd like to point our a few thoughts that might be helpful for those of us who are less than professionals.
    This is just my personal opinion:
    Positive:
    The bench 🗜️ clamp.
    Sorry that's all I have.
    Negative:
    It shouldn't take longer to set up than it takes to sharpen a knife.
    More specifically:
    1)-Setting the angle is like an algebra test. Clamp is angled up 6° as opposed to level. Yes, I know about protractors & apps & the the sharpie marker but really?
    The vertical rod should have pre-etched angle increments like sets from other MFG's.
    2)- 5 fasteners in The clamp!?!?: Need both a hex key & a Phillips head.
    Doesn't work on a thick blade nor a short/narrow blade.
    On other system, Press the tension rod with your thumb to open the clamp & twist with 2 fingers to tighten it. No tools or small parts required.
    3)- No rubber nor padding in the clamp.
    Metal on metal Will not only slip, it'll scratch your knife. Improvise with a couple rubber bands on the clamp or painters tape on your blade.
    4)- The plastic "ball".
    This defect is even obvious to the MFG. They now recommend changing to their "upgraded" guide ball.
    I think most of us would agree this upgrade
    (aka defect) should be provided to their customers as a courtesy.
    Nope!. . How kind of them to recommend you purchase it for $25.
    You can also upgrade to diamond grit stones for more $$ than you paid for the whole set.
    Now, With some Basic math & street smarts, this set equates to the
    'Ol bait & switch..
    I'll refrain from recommending by company names but, better designs are available under $100.
    Respectfully,
    The Blademaster

      "Precision Adjust Elite" .
      I am familiar with "WorkSharp". Just watching a few clips, it puts the "Ruixon Pro" to shame.
      Set up looks quick & simple. ✅
      Angles are
      pre etched.. ✅
      Thumb press Padded clamp. ✅
      The 4 sided guide rod looks to be an innovative time saver. (I'd still suggest wiping down between grits).
      I wish I could be more helpful but I'm at a disadvantage without testing it myself.
      Contingent on the strength & stability of the magnetic clamp attachment. I'd give this a 👍🏻..
      Another set you might want to consider is the "KME". Taking the "positives" one step further. Their set up incorporates a pistol grip into the stand. This gives you the option to remove it from the base & hold it it safely in your hand.
      I find this to be quick & easier when I'm only looking to sharpen one or two knives.
      Wishing you Safe & Smooth sharpening,

      In practice, this rule is not really important. You can lift the stone, only land it on the edge with care. I tried different techniques on two different sharpeners of this type and sharpened many knives, so I can be sure. In all cases, the main working motion should be against the edge, if you use a stone, and out of the edge if you used a pad with a polishing paste on it (on leather, wood, or other materials).
