This is a game and story I’ve analysed and dug deep into since 2001 😂 I wouldn’t call myself an expert or anything but I definitely live and breathe Silent Hill. It’s an incredible work of art that you can still find new things about even after 2 decades. Thank you for watching mate 🙏🏻😁
This is, quite possibly, one of the coolest walkthroughs I've ever seen. I enjoyed your step-by-step commentary! The mythology and discussion of the areas were fun. I'm still here and you have captivated my attention.
1:25 terrifyingly beautiful. This stairwell and the one above from where you fight PH the first time in the other world are so damn gorgeous. Walking with the flashlight off when possible is the best. Bloober really did a phenomenal job with the atmosphere. Cool vid btw 35:19 “what a top G” 😂😂😂
This game drips in atmosphere. It’s beautiful in a really creepy and anxious way. I think they absolutely nailed that side of Silent Hill 2 for sure. Graphically as well it’s one of the most gorgeous games Ive played. Thank you for watching man 😁🙏🏻
Shooting Pyramid's helmet in his boss battle is useless: the closet scene earlier showed that. Instead go for his body and the legs and this fight ends much sooner.
I got 75 hrs on my first play through because I literally immersed myself like I was there played with no UI and looked at every little detail in the environment.
38:52 the light that’s on is actually a silhouette of possibly Mary. At 40:04 if you look up at the lit room window you can see Mary more better before you climb the window and it shuts behind you. Thought that was pretty awesome
not a complaint, but would probably be more appropriate to title this video "A thorough overview of the woodside/bluecreek apartments" the current title makes me think there will be hidden lore that I didn't know about thats going to be discussed
I think a lot of people learned something they didn’t already know from the video, so just because you already know everything about Silent Hill 2 doesn’t mean that everyone does. I just want to make fun videos talking about something I love and have lots of knowledge about.
@@Neco42 I only know what I experienced on my 2 playthroughs. One from the original, one from the remake. I already knew everything you were discussing despite that... I didn't even watch any videos on it aside from theory stuff, which only makes speculation based on whats already known by any player. What I didn't notice was the visible breath from Eddy, which definately is a cool observation. However, You go into ALOT of detail that takes up the majority of the video on the natural progression that any player goes through, and you make commentary over what's happening throughout said progression. Nothing that reveals any "secrets," just commentary stating the obvious. If you actually only kept the theories and actual minor details, the video would be much shorter. 5 minutes tops. I don't think I'm insane for thinking that something like this isn't really representative of a "dark secret" which the title suggests.. it's why I suggested the title to be of an "overview" or a "recap" instead. The only kind of person who wouldn't already know the things you mentioned are people who did not play the game. For what it's worth, it's still good. I watched the whole thing. Just change the title.
You could definitely make.a case for that yeah! Also that weird single baby crying sound after you grab the handgun could also be a nod to that effect too.
This is a phenomenal video, extremely well explained (especially some of that subtle environmental storytelling that Bloober Team are masters at), and really good editing. You deserve way more views and subscribers. Absolutely subscribing, can't wait for this whole series!
Thank you so much! What a nice comment to read. Bloober team did an unbelievably good job on this game. Anyone naysaying on it are just too stuck in the past and wouldn’t enjoy a remake made by anyone. I have been really critical of Bloober in the past too, so I’m beyond happy for them to finally release a quality game. Next episode should be good too man, we got Maria joining the party and there’s plenty to say where that’s concerned 😌🤙🏻
Something about the escape room a lot of people don’t pick up on is that the images you need for the combo don’t appear unless you point the flashlight at them . They are invisible to the naked eye a la Alan wake 1
In my opinion, the remake is so much better than the original. Everything is brought to life more and the small changes they introduced work really well. The game is a solid 10 for me
Silent Hill is a normal town with people living in it, which has layers of reality (planes of existence). Each one is linked to a part of the psyche that shapes reality in its own way. Imagine Silent Hill as a blank canvas, the brush is the mind, the paints are fears, traumas, desires, wishes, etc. Like a paintbrush, the mind manifests all this "paint" into shapes and visuals on the canvas
The commentary and editing in this is so funny. Definitely subbed. Also when James shoots pyramid head through the closet it very much felt like he was shooting a metal reflection of himself like he must be seeing his own reflection. Could just be me or could be like "duh..." but I liked it. Along with the creepy posturing PH does randomly as he walks up.
Thanks for the sub! Glad you enjoyed the video too 😌🙏🏻I can’t wait for the next episode cos we gonna meet Maria and there’s SO much subtext in the heavens night scene 🤩.
they’re such little rascals! I love/hate seeing them scamper around in the distance knowing full well they’re gonna jump out and start poke-kicking me in the face later, but I can’t help but feel affection for them. Silly goose energy.
Yeah I go over that in the video. But my personal feeling towards it is that I think it’s an interesting new piece of lore. It also makes James’s story so much more tragic and cruel. He DID kill Mary, but being stuck on this endless loop is serious hell. Can he even die?! Or is he just forever there?! 😩
I’m not going to watch because I hate click baity thumbnails, but can anyone tell me if there’s even anything he says about pyramid heads hand? The thing he red circled in the thumbnail?
Amazing as usual man! It's gonna take some serious effort to edit like this all the way to the end of the game, but hopfully you'll get some well deserved subs on the way! 😃👍
Thanks man! And yes, it’s going to take a LOT of effort to edit the rest of the game like this too. But I’m determined! Plus now that some more people have seen this and subbed, hopefully the install base for the next episodes will be more and more. I’m glad it didn’t flop cos I poured blood sweat and tears into this haha 😅😁
Please read Masahiro Itos tweets about it. The original idea was to do the scissor thing, but it ended up going with the knife idea because he didn’t have time to model the two parts of the scissors. ✂️. There’s a nod to it in the hairdressers in the remake as a way of acknowledging Ito sans original idea. But it is, in fact, a knife without the handle attached.
I didn’t ever notice that Eddie has cold breath that’s craaaaaazy! I wish we got DLC with the extra characters and other monsters etc it would be so nice
Love to hear that man! Finishing this series is going to be an insane amount of work, but I look forward to having it all there in one playlist for people to watch. Appreciate you giving it a watch mate and I hope to see you in the next one 💪🏻
@ I appreciate all the effort your going through making these. I will absolutely be there for the next one . I’m fact going to watch part 1 right now 👍🏻
When James tells Angela that he's here to see his dead wife, Angela panics, with the realisation that her father and brother could be in this town, thus wanting to find her mother in that moment.
Yeah good shout! I wonder when the first time is that Angela see’s her father and brother come at her as manifestations? 🤔 is it really the abstract daddy fight or has it happened before but she managed to run away from them…
With the original SH2 and with them using the dead body as james was because hes been through this all and failed to survive so his soul would return back for james to repeat it all over again
If I walked into a hospital or an apartment building and see a chain link fence or prison bars in the middle of a hallway, I would fuck on outta there real quick.
Haha you know it! Or if I’m walking down an alley and there’s a wheelchair on its side with one wheel turning and creaking, I’m turning around and going the fuck back 😂
Excellent work, sir. After the series is complete I'd be curious to hear your critiques of the remake. For such an otherwise dogsht year this game was an absolutely unexpected delight. Not perfect, but surpassed my wildest expectations.
Thank you so much! Yes once we get through the whole game, I’ll do a nice think piece on it all and it’ll be a nice body of work. It certainly surpassed my expectations too! I think a lot of people were shocked by Bloober Team stepping up like this. Hopefully the next Silent Hill games will be of the same quality (or higher!). Either way I’ll be covering all things Silent Hill 😌🙏🏻

Ahaha... When Eddie tell James about escape town - James remember about Mary. Then James meet Angela at park (she start understanding, what her mother not here) ..."Forget Mary, let's go out from this town together"....oh James 😂😂😂
I just played this game for the first time and loved it, during gameplay I thought the crawler/spitter monsters looked like those BDSM suffocation body bag things lol. It makes SO much sense that Ito is heavy into BDSM, I also thought the monsters heels looked like the Pleaser bdsm boots lmao. Im sure that sexual frustration is a part of the reason the monsters manifest as they do, but moreso foreshadowing and direct symbolism of Marys suffocating in death.
The Time Loop theory Reminds me of the story of Sisyphus in Greek mythology. cursed to push a boulder up a hill without ever reaching the top and having to repeat it over and over .
@@MrSpartan993 yeah it’s really creepy isn’t it 😂 I switched the game off when I was kid after hearing it. I thought it was coming from inside my room or the game was cursed or something
James would have 100% gotten murdered if he went with Eddie. Edit: Also i like how in the nightmare version, 36:18 it shows the aftermath of the closet if Pyramid Head did attack.
So far (I've gotten as far as the Toluca Prison, pre-gallows puzzle), the hard difficulty coin puzzle riddle is the only one that had me stumped for a considerable chunk of time, lol. It took about half an hour or so of trial-and-error educated guesses until getting it solved all the way. 💀
The mannequins are my favorite the way they are tricksters and will run and hide from you waiting for you to find them and get jumped 😂 they're cute and terrifying
Yeah it’s funny when you don’t quite kill one in a battle and you just watch them run off into the dark to find somewhere to hide 😂😂 they definitely are kinda cute aren’t they!
I believe that metal scraping noise was Pyramid Head dragging the giant knife. Which means he's roaming the hallway ofthe Blue creek Apartments. Foreshadowing his Boss battle. 👀😳🤔 Spooky.
Can someone please tell me what the red and yellow patch on the sleeve of James’ jacket is? Haven’t been able to find anything on the internet, even Reddit lol..
If you look out from the balcony outside of the clock puzzle room before going up to the 3rd floor u can see 1 window lit with the silhouette of a woman in the window
I am confused about one thing about silent hill. Did James actually kill his wife? Or is it a metaphor/manifestation of his neglect for Mary? I am a long time fan of the game but it also has me a bit confused. Is the letter at the end before James kills her? Hope this makes sense
He did kill Mary yes. It happened perhaps even a few hours before he arrived in town. Her body is in his car. When he rushes into the bathroom at the start, he’s all out of breath and then suddenly he just breaks and has a sense of amnesia. After this he plays out the delusion that he has a letter from her asking to meet in silent hill. His original plan was to off himself in silent hill because of the guilt of killing Mary. The letter you read at the end was a letter Mary left for James for after she died. She didn’t know he was going to kill her though. Hope this helps! 💪🏻
The apartments were always one of my favorites, just going into each one and seeing what's in it, trying to piece together some of the stranger ones, a lot you just say...well...idk what happened but it was fucked up😂. Some are weird just to be weird, and a lot mean something. Each one tells a separate story. The hospital is always the scariest to me but the apartments are interesting and fun when you take the time.
Agreed! I always found the apartments personally the scariest part of the OG. It was the location still mostly grounded in reality, but it was just so vibey and scary just being there. I also had the same anxious feeling when I was a kid and me and some friends broke into an abandoned house. It had clearly been occupied by junkies cos there were needles and stuff everywhere. Strange graffiti on the wall with weird cryptic patterns and messages like “help me” n shit. Just being there made my adrenaline pump like crazy and I had to literally run out of there cos I was so scared of the atmosphere… anyways, sorry for the rant! Thanks for watching 😌🙏🏻
Pyramid Head’s “knife” isn’t actually a knife, it’s a single blade from a pair of giant scissors. You can learn more about the scissors in the barbershop in town.
Incorrect. If you follow Masahiro Ito on Twitter, he said the original idea was to make it the scissor thing, but he didn’t get time to model them properly to work. So in the end they went with the great knife. I go over this in episode one 👍🏻
Ahh so that's what's behind those bars on the second floor here by the dead guy in front of the TV. When I played I was so scared of that red light in the distance I stayed away lol Turns out it was Pyramid Head's face not a red light.
😂 yeah I can’t blame you for just running away from it. It’s one of those eerie moments that has a lot of implied threat. Also one that you think about afterwards when you’re not playing the game. “Why was that thing just staring at me 😖😓”
The best ending is to simply be a friendly ghost that becomes attached to Laura; the tragedy/cannon of it all is that JAMES IS DEAD he’s currently in purgatory and trying to find a way to the afterlife as peaceful as possible Hence why I say his best bet is to be a friendly ghost that follows Laura everywhere at the ending It’s the only way he avoids hell and also purgatory in general as it’s the only way to leave the city of im not mistaken
Its kinda odd that he refused to go with eddie but wanted to go with angela, maria and keep laura safe, do you guys see it as a protector complex? Is he seeing himself as a guardian to those that are vulnerable? Cause angela and laura characters see him as a possible predator 🤔
That’s an interesting point. I think yeah he might have the saviour complex. He definitely acts different around women than he does men. Naturally every man does, but the way he sort of condescended Eddie in the bowling alley and how he was so ok to leave him in the toilet by himself being sick, tells us a lot about him without saying it directly. Well spotted 😌🤙🏻

Pyramid head manifests itself as a result of James' need for punishment right? When James gets the knife from Angela, pyramid head gets his great knife.
I feel that the knowledge of the loop and the changes made in the remake imply that every loop is different in some way
This is, quite possibly, one of the coolest walkthroughs I've ever seen. I enjoyed your step-by-step commentary! The mythology and discussion of the areas were fun. I'm still here and you have captivated my attention.
That is very nice to hear 💪🏻😁 I appreciate you taking the time to watch me rant about my favourite thing ❤️
@@Neco42 It's my obsession recently too! Lol. I'm on my 3rd play at this point. What's your favorite segment? Mine is the Prison.
1:25 terrifyingly beautiful. This stairwell and the one above from where you fight PH the first time in the other world are so damn gorgeous. Walking with the flashlight off when possible is the best. Bloober really did a phenomenal job with the atmosphere. Cool vid btw
35:19 “what a top G” 😂😂😂
This game drips in atmosphere. It’s beautiful in a really creepy and anxious way. I think they absolutely nailed that side of Silent Hill 2 for sure. Graphically as well it’s one of the most gorgeous games Ive played. Thank you for watching man 😁🙏🏻
2:07 more like Mannequin Pacquiao. These things hit hard as a mf
It’s like being kicked by a horse
Shooting Pyramid's helmet in his boss battle is useless: the closet scene earlier showed that. Instead go for his body and the legs and this fight ends much sooner.
I got 75 hrs on my first play through because I literally immersed myself like I was there played with no UI and looked at every little detail in the environment.
wtf 🤣
ummm ..
Sameee, just looking around and taking in every detail
11:30 I know its a fun easter egg that you can speculate but the director said its just a nod for the players and not James
I never noticed the elemental changes, that's awesome! So true.
It's like an Ari aster movie, you notice or see something new everytime
This video is awesome!! I love the hidden details it’s so interesting
You have a very charismatic and well-paced delivery! Subbed and eager for more!
Appreciate that a lot , thank you😁🙏🏻 next ep is gonna be interesting with Maria joining the party 😌🔥🔥
HA! The Pokemon battle was amazin ❤
Thanks 🤣 I won’t even say how long that took to put together…
Do you think the stroller and the crib represent James lamenting the family life he couldn’t have because of Mary’s sickness?
No, I think it's Mary's.
You could definitely make.a case for that yeah! Also that weird single baby crying sound after you grab the handgun could also be a nod to that effect too.
8:26 Dad always told me: There are women you marry and women you have fun with. Maria is the latter.
Great Video. I love dissections like these. Subscribed
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
12:25 Big Red Pointy Boi! Oh man that's a nickname!
😂😂
Something about the escape room a lot of people don’t pick up on is that the images you need for the combo don’t appear unless you point the flashlight at them . They are invisible to the naked eye a la Alan wake 1
Oh nice! Then you genuinely feel like you discover them. Thats clever 😁🙏🏻
In my opinion, the remake is so much better than the original. Everything is brought to life more and the small changes they introduced work really well. The game is a solid 10 for me
The coin puzzle frustration is real but the voices in of reading the poems really sent me 😂
😂😂 I couldn’t help myself.
Hey man I love your commentary and cant wait to see part 3
Love hearing that man! 😁🙏🏻 don’t worry, next episode is gonna be so juicy.
The mannequins are simultaneously the scariest thing AND funniest thing in this game lol
They can certainly look a little goofy but they made me jump more times than I care to admit haha
they’re such little rascals! I love/hate seeing them scamper around in the distance knowing full well they’re gonna jump out and start poke-kicking me in the face later, but I can’t help but feel affection for them. Silly goose energy.
@ I can see them scamper off into a corner, I go to search like a dummy and get jump scared because they were behind me as I passed them lol
The hot topic right now is the Loop theory. What's your take on this idea
54:59 if you want just that part. It isn’t click bait if I explain it in the video 😙
It talks about what most if not all players already know lmao
If you already played the game, and have eyeballs, there's nothing you don't already know
9:00 You got me focused 😂 and I stopped chewing.
FYI, both Mary and Laura's outfits were taken from the movie Con Air. Maria's outfit was an outfit worn by Christina Aguilera.
55:10 except that’s not Angela’s knife, that is half of a scissor. The Great Knife is indeed a half scissor
I didn’t think someone could make a game dungeon I’ve played through twice in the last 30 days interesting but you somehow did . Kudos 🎉
The "fucking mannequins!" bit was so relatable 😅
😂😂🤙🏻
Your "blessing" us with an hour long video✌🏾
Probably the most effort I’ve put into a video too 🥹🙏🏻
@Neco42 I'll be watching bro
Loved this video, Please make the part 3 😱
I’m working on it don’t worry! It just takes a bit of time as the project is so large 😁🤙🏻
Absolutely INCREDIBLE video man. well fucking done seriously. I definitely DID learn some stuff. cant wait for the next episode
Very nice comment mate thank you very much 😌🙏🏻 next episode will be interesting too so stay tuned 😁🤙🏻
The Loop theory has my mind going in circles.. 🤯
Crazy right?! ☺️
13:28 that sound effect was a screaming sound I remember hearing from crush the castle back in 2009 but i never knew where it originated from
so thats where i remember that sound effect from XD
If I walked into a hospital or an apartment building and see a chain link fence or prison bars in the middle of a hallway, I would fuck on outta there real quick.
Haha you know it! Or if I’m walking down an alley and there’s a wheelchair on its side with one wheel turning and creaking, I’m turning around and going the fuck back 😂
Fantastic video, I thoroughly enjoyed this
I’m glad! This is why I do this 🙏🏻😁 next episode should be fun cos we gonna meet Maria and go through the hospital 😌🤙🏻
Can't wait for the next episode, very fun to watch!
Learnt something new , thank you!
You are more than welcome.
Great video! Nicely done. I assume I will have to wait another 2 weeks before we get to see part 3?
@@davidkey1967 sadly as I still have to work a “real job” full time, it takes me a little longer than I’d like to get projects as work intensive as these done.
So yeah, 2 weeks sounds like a reasonable timeframe my dude 🤙🏻
Oh and thank you very much for you "work" It was very interesting ❤
Ahaha... When Eddie tell James about escape town - James remember about Mary. Then James meet Angela at park (she start understanding, what her mother not here) ..."Forget Mary, let's go out from this town together"....oh James 😂😂😂
Love the use of blue velvet AND burn after reading
Hearing someone else who isn’t into moths is wild - i usually get shamed when I tell people they wig me out
@@arrivedxrci I get the same treatment 😂 “they can’t hurt you!” I know that dumb dumb, I just hate the way they flutter 🫣
The Time Loop theory
Reminds me of the story of Sisyphus in Greek mythology.
cursed to push a boulder up a hill without ever reaching the top and having to repeat it over and over .
It’s a case of really weighing up if the punishment fits the crime 😩😖
What’s crazy is it’s not a theory. It’s fact
Those Whispers scared the absolute SHIT out of me when it first happened.
Oooo that’s a cool detail! I didn’t clock that! 🤩 you have a keen eye sir 😌🤙🏻
high quality, symbolic esoteric level analysis.
😌🙏🏻
Very good video my friend
I subbed.
Thank you so much 🙏🏻😁
Your reading of the text makes me think of Legacy of Kain, the original!!
Fae Victuous!!
Haha, brilliant 😂🤙🏻
The mannequins are my favorite the way they are tricksters and will run and hide from you waiting for you to find them and get jumped 😂 they're cute and terrifying
Yeah it’s funny when you don’t quite kill one in a battle and you just watch them run off into the dark to find somewhere to hide 😂😂 they definitely are kinda cute aren’t they!
I believe that metal scraping noise was Pyramid Head dragging the giant knife. Which means he's roaming the hallway ofthe Blue creek Apartments. Foreshadowing his Boss battle. 👀😳🤔 Spooky.
I'm here brother! Workday listen 👂🏽
Love your attendance sir 😌
The silent hill players yearn for the fog! I'm in the prison I just want to get out of the dark damn it. This game is so uncomfortable, but I love it
It’s weird how “at home” I feel walking around foggy streets with terrifying soundscapes filling my ears 😅🫣.
Can someone please tell me what the red and yellow patch on the sleeve of James’ jacket is? Haven’t been able to find anything on the internet, even Reddit lol..
James look was like, lucky that guy has a curfew.
😂🤣🤙🏻
If you look out from the balcony outside of the clock puzzle room before going up to the 3rd floor u can see 1 window lit with the silhouette of a woman in the window
I love your commentary 😂🤗
😁🤙🏻 won’t get tired of hearing that!
@@Neco42 yes that does! Legend thank you! Love your content btw, keep it coming 🙏
@ appreciate that man thank you 😁🙏🏻 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The white dress in the closet is the same dress the incubator wears in SH1.
Great video
Thanks man 😁🙏🏻
The apartments were always one of my favorites, just going into each one and seeing what's in it, trying to piece together some of the stranger ones, a lot you just say...well...idk what happened but it was fucked up😂.
Just being there made my adrenaline pump like crazy and I had to literally run out of there cos I was so scared of the atmosphere…
anyways, sorry for the rant!
@ I’m talking about in the remake, not the original.
“Why was that thing just staring at me 😖😓”
The best ending is to simply be a friendly ghost that becomes attached to Laura; the tragedy/cannon of it all is that JAMES IS DEAD he’s currently in purgatory and trying to find a way to the afterlife as peaceful as possible
Hence why I say his best bet is to be a friendly ghost that follows Laura everywhere at the ending
It’s the only way he avoids hell and also purgatory in general as it’s the only way to leave the city of im not mistaken
James the friendly ghost ending 😂🤙🏻
Well spotted 😌🤙🏻
mary and lauras outfitsin the original sh2 were actually inspired by the wife and daughter in con air ^_^ or at least look very very similar
PUMPKIN
711 is also in the US
Might be because I'm on the app but I cannot find part one lol
@@Splunkmastah I try to avoid putting “part 1 “ and so on in video titles cos it’s less appetising to click on 😅 but it’s here ; th-cam.com/video/JdDqNq1UGYo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6g0NEFpouvjO9_rh
The mannequins sounds.... 😍🤤oh god
If Mary had signs of skin cancer, that probably explain the granny clothes 😢
Wait huh? Why would cancer make you buy granny clothes? What am I missing 🫣
@Neco42 it's just very Japanese. The way Mary dresses I mean. Even the youngest women dress like this in professional settings.
Pyramid head manifests itself as a result of James' need for punishment right? When James gets the knife from Angela, pyramid head gets his great knife. Maybe the scraping noise it makes is a constant reminder to james that he has a knife and that maybe something should be done with it. Something to punish James...😶🌫️
Man this game is super scary
There’s a lot to it with the subtext. I love how every aspect actually means something as apposed to just “scary game cos scary”
30:13 I will forever read these riddles with a pirate accent.
😂😂🤙🏻
