Nice work, when you seat your wedge, put it wedge down on the anvil or a sturdy table, and drive the hammer on to the wedge, that ensures the head stays seated and evens the pressure over the wedge to prevent splitting 😊
Great question! This is actually a hammer that was given to me by a friend of mine, he used to be a welder and used this hammer for years until the head came off, then it remained in a box of scrap metal until I took a liking to it several years later
