Thank you for all the news, Mr. Henry. I may never get to meet you, but I’ll always feel that I knew you. You will always be the face of Channel Five News in Cleveland! Hopefully, you’re enjoying your retirement now.
Did you pay attention to what he said? His heart was with NE Ohio and he built his life here. Not everyone wants to climb to the top and live in NYC or LA if it comes at the expense of leaving behind your friends, families and co-workers. He loved his job - everyone has different motivation for what you do - and I'm sure he was making more than 40k - even then 40k gets you a lot farther in Cleveland than it does in a "major market" with the lower cost of living.
Its sad to watch all my favorite newscasters retire one by one, but with all the years theyve put in they deserve it. Hope you are enjoying retirement Ted.
@snowden67 There were a number of anchors from his generation who worked in NE Ohio their entire careers. He's from northeast Ohio originally. If you're near your home and happy with your job, why move?
@bmpowell More money, more fame, the chance to work in a bigger tv market, the availability of more support staff, more abundant and more modern state of the art equipment, better educated more professional people. Most professionals want to make it to the top of their game. That means reporting or anchoring in a major city. True, there are some who are content making $40K a year in a cubicle in a dead end job so they can get home in time to watch Wheel of Fortune. Some just lack talent.
I miss Ted....He was so sweet!!! I didn't know his family had a hardware store in Hartville! Thanks for putting this up!
That intro took me back. I haven't lived in NE Ohio since '92 but I sure remember Ted Henry.
Ted was the go to news guy in Cleveland. I have not lived there for over 32 years
