Yo no encuentro vibrato. No se porque siempre estamos buscando defectos. A mi me parece un estupendo tenor, y canta con mucho sentimiento esta difícil aria.
I'm such a fan of this guy. He sang a beautiful rendition of Romberg's Serenade at the 2011 BBC Proms. I find it odd that he brought his hands in front of his mouth while going to the B natural. I realize, especially in male singers, the conveyance of emotions using the hands. But they should not rise to partially block the sound. As another commentator pointed out, the way he transitions to the B natural is unpleasant. That delivery may be what he is capable of physically doing, instead of attacking the high B directly. There again it could be a technical problem he has not mastered and/or a question of "nerves". Pretty scary pausing, then hitting the B if one is unsure. That said, a few tenors (there are others) come to mind who could pause and unload a thrilling B natural: the magnificent Swedish tenor, Jussi Bjorling & one of the greatest tenor voices of the 20th century, Mario Lanza. Both had thrilling tops. Cheers my fellow tenor lovers.
También me recuerda a Kaufmann en el tono, aunque Castronovo es mucho menos malo. Concuerdo con que no le llega a Schipa a los talones, pero ojo que L´Arlesiana no es bel canto ;)
Yes! The song is not all that tough except for that one jump. Do you work your way up on “la” or go to “scia” then jump from there? It has always vexed me.

Precisamente me gusta escuchar a los cantantes en vivo, las grabaciones de estudio se adulterar pero no ahora desde hace muchos años. En este aria lo principal es cantarla con gusto y matizada. Ejemplo Kraus, que sin tener una voz grande la cantaba en vivo de manera ejemplar. Más que las voces grandes o supuestamente bellas me gustan los tenores con buena línea de canto. Pippo por ejemplo tenía un timbre bello pero su voz en plenitud duró un suspiro después lo que hacía era gritar y exagerar. Usted lo llamará cantar con el corazón yo lo llamo sobreactuar.
Ya lo he leído varias veces y usted menosprecia a todo el que no opina como usted, a mi no me gusta el pop me apasiona la ópera. La mayoría de los cantantes actuales salvo excepciones no me gustan. Pero usted nada más se fija en las voces grandes de su época y quiero decirle que en la mitad del siglo XX existirieron grandes cantantes pero muchos de ellos lo cantaban todo con un verismo indiscriminado. No sólo es un buen cantante el que tiene una voz potente y cálida. No se puede cantar Bellini igual que Puccini.

Enrique Paz Escudero coincido plenamente! La gente habla por no callarse.No engola la voz ,la sobre cubre mucho eso sí pero es un tenor COJONUDO.
