Great job, brings back fond memories of being dragged up and down the lawn by one of these as a boy in the 70s. I had forgotten the engine was a 2 stroke but remember the being chuffed when I mastered the art of starting it which I'm sure involved a tickle of the carb. I think it had a decompressor as well to stop it. I had a big old cassette player in a haversack and Boots headphones and used to listen to Deep Purple etc loud enough to drown out the cacophony from the mower, hence the lifelong Tinnitus I suppose.
A very thorough job. Having those facilities helps a lot and it's interesting to see how Atco's go together . I have a 22" Standard in very original condition. 👍👍
My Atco Standard can be a bit recalcitrant to start. I find that squirting a drop of fuel into the combustion chamber persuades it to start. Once warmed up,it starts no problem and I never use the de compressor to start it up ,only for stopping.
Great restoration 👍👍👍 Thanks so much for looking over the metal lathe at school today. All the best David 🙂👍
No problem. We will get it up and running fully in no time!
Enjoyed watching the restoration.
This is so cool, and to think of the design that went into this 100yrs ago. Nice work! John.

Brilliant job enjoyed watching your various skills. Your workshops great for that type of work. Love that exposed engine cooling fan. Tony

Looks incredibly dangerous, well done!
Excellent, thank you.
Top work that man!

Fantastic! All you need now is a lawn! :-)

AT 8:30 -- have never seen a linisher setup like that!
