The problem with AODs is that when they put them in these cars it signed their death warrant,90 % of people that own these cars enjoy romping on them , some constantly and unless a AOD its built up by a shop unlike stock it wont last very long,on my 91 i have a AOD (my 89 is standard) and i had it rebuilt in 98 and its just now giving me some small issues, thats 26 years, not bad for a tranny ,but its like you say "just daily driver use"
Another great video. Can you ask Matt his thoughts about proactively replacing a heater core. I am the original owner of an 88 LX with 38k. I getting paranoid that my heater core will go (I know you can relate). Maybe you can talk about this in your next video update on Halo. Thanks
Hey foxbody friend. Question about this nightmare of a TV cable. Does it matter if the car has a downer aod ? I have a 91 fox but lord only know what year the aod came from.
Hi, i watched the video again for clarity and i noticed a significant difference with the cable you installed and one available at LMR. Is this gonna be ok in your opinion??@GearHead704
The aftermarket TV cables are useless, finding a real one is akin to running into Aladins cave, damn, that grommet on the old cable looks new,on mine that grommet after years and years the rubber is almost dissolved, lol
Well you didn't fully break the throttle valve trans cable, it was still working mostly. You need to do better job Matt, at least you could find a new one. Now you need to make sure she can stop and be safe. Knocking repairs off the list feels great.
@@GearHead704 I’ve got the one LMR sold, hope it don’t tare my transmission out, don’t even think they sell them anymore, got it with a car I bought it was in with all the parts, everything was there tho, they have a video on it tho, wish me luck lol
My 86 Lincoln Mark 7 LSC has this. Good to know! Thanks for the video!
Where can i buy this part for an 86 mustang
It’s awesome how you are going above and beyond on your daughters Fox! You are a great Dad! 🦊
Thanks Robert, just trying to get her on the road soon so she can enjoy.
Thanks for another great HOW TO FIX--------- lesson! Your daughter is one step closer to driving it!!
She's been driving the pants off of it lately. Almost 6k miles.
Definitely had that happen to me when my fox was AOD! Went through a couple AOD rebuilds before I manual swapped mine!
oh no! Sorry to hear that but hope you enjoyed the manual. We're gonna see how long we can get this AOD to last for her
@@GearHead704 love manual, but the aod will last as long as the TV cable is set correctly, especially if its just daily driver use.

I loved that she named it Halo. Looking forward to seeing it at Foxtoberfest!
I just now got to this comment lol
@@GearHead704 lol all good man lol
Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Getting everything fixed. Hope you have an incredible night. Much love and RESPECT
Hey Tim! Thanks and same ot ou
Super important stuff there! Same concept as the Mopar transmission
Hey broken tool! Thanks for watching and I didn't know that Mopar was the same but it makes sense.
This is how I lost 4th gear. Bushing came off. Ive still been killing it with the AOD shuffle. Who needs OD.😂😂
oh no! At the same time this comment is hilarious 🤣. Every day your shuffling!
@@GearHead704 😂😂
do yall know the part number for the 87-93 cable?
Good job guys!
Thanks Jason
It's like Christmas every time I pull up TH-cam on a Wednesday afternoon and see a new Gearhead video!
LMAO Sam. Well then, Happy holidays!
I'll be installing a PA AOD tv cable. Hopefully it works well...
I hope it does!
I did a carb swap on my 86 stick and absolutely it
Carb swaps can definitely be a lot of fun too.
Can you please link where you got your cable from
I bought it on ebay.
4R70W swap but the windsor cases are getting more scarce every day. V6 mustangs till I think 01?
I don't know much about anything past 93
Does anyone know the part number for an AOD TV cable for 1987-93?
I don't, I had to look for the ATV AOD and BoxBody on Ebay

I already know that he would say do it. I've had two go out on me and one ruined the carpet so I"m definitely a fan of this.

Probably a decent idea to replace the cable.

LOL, I will try harder next time Paul
Welcome HALO!
She's been a great addition for sure.
That trans cable was a trap from ford, come on tare the trans up ,so you can buy another one, good luck
