The flat top queen rocks. I think ft king wouldn’t be where he is without her support. I think she always asks really good questions when Neil is cooking. I love her. ❤
Absolutely love this! The two of you are an awesome team. Caught a free gigantic break on the ignition, was cringing when all 4 burners were opened and took that long to ignite. God smiled on you good people and allowed ya’ll to teach others the seriousness of any gas appliances, just may have saved someone’s life. God Bless
Thanks Kelly! Neal makes it look so easy when he's in front of the camera... then there's me, the trainwreck. 😂 People always ask us how much footage we have to film for a 10-12 minute video, and honestly, it's only about 15 minutes or so... I think because Neal has such a good base of culinary knowledge and experience to pull from, he can speak and teach very easily when he's in front of the camera... so for him the filming part is a piece of cake. For me, not so much!
@@TheFlatTopKing I’m guessing you do lion’s share of editing? We all have our strengths. Working together as a team is what it’s all about. That comes through loud and clear…. it’s foundation comes from decades of mutual respect. That genuiness can NOT be faked, although folks try.
Amy, never sell yourself short! Except for that small explosion in the beginning, you rocked that! Congratulations on hitting that 50K! Experience is your best teacher! Nicely done! Cheers y’all!
It was great to see a beginner do it. I've learned so much from your videos so far. I've attempted to make smash burgers twice on my grill and recently learned that I didn't do a few things correctly. Hats off to Amy for putting herself out there. Nice work. Mad respect ✌🏻
Thanks Vance...its amazing how for new people they can relate when seeing it ...that is typically the whole goal...try to put ourselves in your shoes and find a fix
You being a newbie is a great teaching opportunity for us. When you’ve been doing it for a while you make it look easy and then when we try we’re wondering what we did wrong. I appreciate this.
Neil, I just found this video and love it. You griddles that know what you are doing make everything look so easy. Watching Amy go through the process brings reality into the picture. She mentioned that she forgot a few things she meant to do because everything happens so fast. Yes, for a new y, it certainly does, and she demonstrated that to a tee. I love this video. Thank you both for sharing this with us.😁🙏👏😁🙏👏❤️
As a safety professional, I was watching as she was turning on the knobs and I was like LIGHT IT!! I am glad you all left that in there and then explained the situation afterwards. It’s an innocent mistake that happens all too often. A great learning experience that really could be its own short video in itself.i hope you do do that.

I’ll be doing majority of cooking but I can see her wanting to learn. You 2 are a great team, keep it up and thank you for your content. It’s taught me so much and I feel prepared to jump in

Learning a lot from you (I feel better about my first smash burgers as they seemed to stick to the griddle, but now I know that it's normal, haha -- they were still great). Keep up the great content!
I make all the meals for my family of 4, but was starting to get complaints about my burgers, which is like the easiest meal I make. Now my smashburgers are getting rave reviews and honestly my last one was probably the best burger I ever ate! Thank you so much!
I love that she admits that she doesn't cook. My wife does not cook, when she has to she usually heats up something I have canned like spaghetti, chili, etc. My wife loves Native American culture so I gave her an Indian name, it is "She who doesn't cook".
Thank you SO much. Much appreciated first attempt and I watched all of your videos. Yours, for beginners and also the mistakes. I think they turned out amazing and all your tips and experience really helped.

Good job Amy! For someone that only "cooks" salad, you did great! My favorite smashburger (or 8 oz. "blackened" burger) is seasoned w/ Sea Salt, Pepper, Garlic & Worchestershire Sauce, topped with carmelized grilled onions and bleu cheese crumble with a slice of gouda to hold it all in place with a little mayo and ketchup. Also, bleu cheese dressing is delicious w/ a steak.
Awesome job Amy 😉👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼! You did well for a 2nd timer. Please continue to feel brave enough to jump back on the griddle, would love to see part 3. I watched your Smash burger What Not to Do video and this one before I made my first round of smash burgers today. With your tips, mine turned out great. Ya'll are my favorite flat top cooking channel.
One last thing I forgot. I do not have to dig to get crust off. The very first ones I did amd they looked better. Now they just come right up and darker. Again appreciate the help and looking forward to the shake that smash that and que that seasoning I ordered
We have all done the delayed light and got the shock lighting, it was great you and Neal and went back and covered it as it is very common. Neal she is much better looking in front of the camera. This is great!! A true realistic first try and the quick time is sooo true of all new griddlers and some of us still, well done,
@@TheFlatTopKing BTW, tried the EMU in meat fajitas, they were outstanding in flavor and taste. Tasted just like a great steak. Also found a local meat processor that is stocking EMU so my bride can enjoy. Now if they just had some kinda bacon from that big chicken.
Another great video for the novices out there. I showed my son (who's 18) how to light the griddle and my advice to him was put your thumb on the ignitor first and then turn the burner to light at the same time. The other suggestion to him was getting in a place where you can see the burner ignite (or that it doesn't). If you've been around griddles or grills for years you'd often take things like this for granted - it makes us humble when we try to explain everything to someone who's never done these things before - I joke with my son that he's attending "man school" and it chokes me up a bit when I realize all the things my father taught me as a young man and think about the things I had to learn on my own after he had passed.
I was telling my son "He needs to incorporate his wife in his videos" My son said that you have. So here it is I get to watch a video (been taking care of the wife due to hip replacement surgery). The first thing I noticed was over 50,000 followers and growing. Totally Awesome! Then there it is with this Smash Burger Video. I loved everything about this video in it being truly real, with nothing left out. Now I too when it came to the cheese on the grill was like "Girl clean that grill". Other than that she did an awesome job. I loved how she wanted to do her own burger, and I loved how ya'll left the little mess ups in the video. Really appreciated the beginning about the propane and what can happen. (Great Job explaining that) The other three things I took away from this video was her realizing how it's different than holding the camera. You helping her along while holding the camera. I might add I see her doing that for you sometimes when she is holding the camera. The last thing was you wanting to pursue that goat cheese smash burger to your tasting and style. Looking forward to maybe a "Three versions of a Smash Burger Video" Well it was different, but so much fun to watch. Ya'll do more of these as she did a great job. Stay who ya'll are and this channel will continue to grow. I cannot wait for the 100,000 followers cake. Just wondering what flavor that one will be. lol.
I really appreciate you taking time out to comment this..I deeply appreciate it. As far as the cake if she has anything to do with it Im sure its going to be a 3 tiered wedding flavored giant cake....aahahaha just order the biggest one..
Thank you! I purchased my black stone 36” original griddle after binge watching your channel. I’m hooked! I also ordered everything in your must have list! I’m stoked to receive it. ❤
You have the sweetest wife possible. Always smiling and with kind words on every video. I wish she could be cloned, many times over. Even if she doesn’t cook.
She is absolutely correct. I’ve been cooking for 45 years in a restaurant and home and when you cook on the flattop you better have all your prep work done and everything out that you need because cooking on the flattop races past you so fast and you can cook for 5 people in 10 minutes not including your prep. I think she did a wonderful job and the burgers look great and I love that oowey gooey melted cheese.
So I am a little late to the game as my wife just bought me my first Blackstone griddle for our new camper. Completely new to cooking as it appears Amy is, AND new to the griddle world. I work third shift and have watched about 20 hours of your videos in the past 3 shifts. I picked this one to comment on as Amy thanked us for watching and supporting you all, Thank YOU guys for an awesome channel that I will use to grow with. Im a golfer, not a good one but I golf. The rule of thumb for you tube student golfers is pick one video coach you like to listen to, not multiple as that may confuse a person. To that I say, I am ready to learn Coach. With that, im going to hunt for a video that gives your secret magical steak seasoning! Take care
ahhaaahha so thats a long story....but as of now no...we only developed 2 with 2 more in mind as we see the initial results....still a secret...for sure
Amy, you did a fantastic job! I remember my first smashburger, it felt like a race against time and I almost panicked forgetting about the cheese because I wanted those patties off the grill! LOL Happy 50K to you both and many more to come. Your videos are educational, personable, and fun to watch!
That's great info for newbies and gas cooking appliances. Many accidents happen from that as well on gas grills with the lid closed during start up. Something I like to do is press and hold the igniter before turning the burners on to help prevent that. I'm new to your channel and it's full of great info. Thank you.
No offense Neal, but this is one of my favorite videos. Amy shows how crazy it can be when things get moving so fast....easy to forget things. Great job Amy, looks like at the end it all turned out pretty good. You guys keep up the good work.
Love y’all! Don’t be discouraged young lady, both of you guys make this channel great. Live and learn we’ve all made the same mistake with the gas 😂. Just got my griddle last week and have made quite a few of your recipes thx 🙏 for the recipes and tips.
Just got my 28” Blackstone seasoned and for my first cook I did beef fajitas. Everything happened faster than I expected. Fortunately, from watching your videos, I had my ingredients prepped and ready and was somewhat expecting the transitions. Going to try the smash burgers next and then maybe a weekend breakfast. You two make a great team and you two are my instructors on my flat top griddle. Very entertaining and informative.
Awesome job Amy!! Neal is such a great role model when it comes to cooking that you are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to watch him cook like this for many years!! You're doing GREAT and DONT STOP. Can't wait to see the next generation " Your Daughters " having their camera time!! You did good Neal!! 🍻
Love this video. It should give us all the appreciation of how hard it is to actually cook, how much there is to learn and how much we can share with each other.
That was so much fun for everyone. Sure glad the explosion wasn't any bigger, seen it coming and I backed up just as she hit the ignighter. Congratulations on the 50K subscribers, you do have a very good channel and it is wholesome and honest. Now back to Amy's S O S (sort of slow) burger, they turned out great . For someone who doesn't cook I think you did great and have been paying attention and watching closely to Neil . He has taught a lot of folks the basics on using the grill . You two have things going great for you, each have their qualities and abilities to lift each other up . Stay safe and keep up the great recipes and fun you share with us. Fred.
I love watching your channel. I've had my Big green egg since my first fathers day and now 25 years later (still love it!) I got a Weber Slate 36" and am having fun with it too! I tried your hibachi shrimp and it was amazing.(other than I tripped on a rock and spilt half of it). These are on the menu for tonight!
This was a blast. My wife cooks and bake's. When I became disabled a year ago. Trust me though I can cook. But that was sooooo entertaining. Oh the wife turn's the big 50 IN 4 DAYS ,,,LOVE THE CAKE. You kids keep up the good work. Oh Amy , if you've never been flashed,,,,,,,, you just did. That's what that is called when you light a grill that way. We've all done it at least once.🤣🤣🤣
Great video - fan of Amy as she is so sincere and funny. And she did great on the griddle. Between this and the Mistakes video I am able to correct all the things I was doing wrong and my burgers are getting better. Had some friends over recently and they concluded: GREAT!! They said I am like a Seinfeld episode with the soup guy... " You suffer for your Smashburgers. Yes. That is right." And you guys do too.
Loved this one! If all goes well my replacement griddle gets here tomorrow and I'll be doing my first smash burgers this coming weekend so this was perfect timing. Glad you didn't get blown up by the propane "explosion" Neal. Thank you two for leaving it in and stressing the importance of safety. I do hope you make your version of the smash burger with goat cheese soon. Congrats on crossing 50K. You two are a fantastic team. Thank you both for all you do. Looking forward to Amy's Cook #3 - flat bread pizza.
Thanks so much Zack! Hope you picked up some good tips for your first smash burgers... Let us know how they turn out. I would say my biggest mistake for the burgers was leaving them on the griddle too long and over-cooking them... They were definitely pretty dry. Neal told me afterwards that I pretty much cooked all of the moisture out. 😂 And be sure to have all of your cheese and seasonings nearby and ready to go, because the whole process goes super quick.
Honestly, you did better than I did my first try! LOL I admire your dedication to not stage steps, showing a true beginner, will be exciting to watch grow, make mistakes and improve your skill level! 👌 Best of luck and looking forward to future vids!
This was so much fun to watch and Congratulations on the 50k! Smash burgers is on my list of thing to do and am now more eager to try. I like the steak flavor idea sense I don’t get to eat those often. Thanks Amy!
Amy I just bought a black stone and cooked smash burgers for the very first time yesterday. Everything you just did I also did including almost blowing myself up. 😂 great vid!
I made smash burgers for the first time yesterday and it does take practice. She’s doing it for the first time and she did 4 patties at once. I think she did great.
Your wife was awesome. She should cook with you more. I actually learned a lot watching her make the smash burgers. I definitely want to try the goat cheese, smash burgers. Great job as always guys keep up the grade videos you guys are awesome.
That is about how my first smash burgers went! Now that I've done it about 50 times, I'm much better. The first time you do something, it's always harder. I was showing a friend my method, and he couldn't believe how much prep work I did before we started to cook. Everything has to be ready to go before you start any cooking. And congrats on 50k!
Yes, I think that's the biggest lesson... have all of your ingredients, seasonings, cheese 100% ready to go before putting the burgers on the griddle. It does go way faster than what you would think! Thanks so much! :)
Congratulations Amy and Neal for your already 51,200 subscribers!! Now let's go for 100,000!! You make a great job!! I love all your videos, I only miss to have a little bit more time for cook your recipes in my plancha! All the best and best wishes for you! Greetings from Europe 🌍🌎

Hey thats so cool...thanks for the support...reach out if we can help
You have the sweetest wife possible. Always smiling and with kind words on every video. I wish she could be cloned, many times over. Even if she doesn’t cook.
hahhaah thanks BIll....Definitely married up
She is absolutely correct.
Thanks for sharing and the encouragement
You guys ROCK! Thank you for your service Neil!
TY
I’m totally onboard with Amy’s goat cheese burger. Great first attempt at smash burgers👍 Congratulations on the channel 50k milestone👏👏👏👏👏😊
Thanks so much Bobbi and your support
Take care
So im stalking your website, is your steak seasoning one of the ones you sell?
ahhaaahha so thats a long story....but as of now no...we only developed 2 with 2 more in mind as we see the initial results....still a secret...for sure
Amy, you did a fantastic job! I remember my first smashburger, it felt like a race against time and I almost panicked forgetting about the cheese because I wanted those patties off the grill! LOL Happy 50K to you both and many more to come. Your videos are educational, personable, and fun to watch!
hey thanks for that...cheers to the next 50,000
Amy is awesome and adds a fun element to your channel when she cooks….. keep em coming…….
That's great info for newbies and gas cooking appliances. Many accidents happen from that as well on gas grills with the lid closed during start up. Something I like to do is press and hold the igniter before turning the burners on to help prevent that. I'm new to your channel and it's full of great info. Thank you.
Thanks Robert...
No offense Neal, but this is one of my favorite videos. Amy shows how crazy it can be when things get moving so fast....easy to forget things. Great job Amy, looks like at the end it all turned out pretty good. You guys keep up the good work.
Completely understand...its definition a learning curve
Love y’all! Don’t be discouraged young lady, both of you guys make this channel great. Live and learn we’ve all made the same mistake with the gas 😂. Just got my griddle last week and have made quite a few of your recipes thx 🙏 for the recipes and tips.
couple more turns on the griddle and Amy will look like a pro! Meal prep is SOOOOO important, makes the cooking side so much easier...GREAT JOB!
thats the goal for sure....I think meal prep is so over looked...
Hey that awesome to hear...seemed like you were prepared and on top of it...great job...the learning curve for you will be easy...
Congrats on reaching 50K, there is a good reason for that! Neil, brother man, I think you have some serious competition for that cooking spot.
hahahaha I think she was trying to knock off the competition
Awesome job Amy!! Neal is such a great role model when it comes to cooking that you are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to watch him cook like this for many years!! You're doing GREAT and DONT STOP. Can't wait to see the next generation " Your Daughters " having their camera time!! You did good Neal!! 🍻
Hey thats really a great comment Thank you
I like the way y'all added the disclaimer in the beginning... I saw this on the members sight and was like WOW! Good job!
thanks bud...and thanks for your support...
You folks are awesome! I bought a Blackstone and I love using it!
Good to hear! Thanks Terry
This was fun! I will be glad to watch her anytime.
Love this video. It should give us all the appreciation of how hard it is to actually cook, how much there is to learn and how much we can share with each other.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m getting my first griddle this weekend and I really needed to see this video today.
Congratulations
Fred.
Hey thanks so much Fred...truly appreciate that...
Y’all’s videos are fun to watch. And learn a lot too!
haah Thanks Charles...we have a blast
This was a blast. My wife cooks and bake's. When I became disabled a year ago. Trust me though I can cook. But that was sooooo entertaining. Oh the wife turn's the big 50 IN 4 DAYS ,,,LOVE THE CAKE. You kids keep up the good work. Oh Amy , if you've never been flashed,,,,,,,, you just did. That's what that is called when you light a grill that way. We've all done it at least once.🤣🤣🤣
Thanks, Dave! And happy birthday to your wife! I don't think I want to be "flashed" again anytime soon... hahaha!
Neil!! I’m so glad you hit 50k!! Your content is ridiculously good!! Can’t wait to see you hit 100k!!
Hey thanks Thomas...we appreciate the support
Great video Amy. Your the best.
Thanks Harry! :)
Yes. That is right." And you guys do too.
ahhaahah thanks so much
The beginner noobi Smashburgers look delicious! Great job Amy! Congrats to The Flat Top King Team for hitting the 50K milestone! You guys rock!
Thank you! You too!
Having both of you in the videos brings a great balance to your show
We agree!
Best video yet!! Well done
Hey congratulations on 50k🎉🎈🎈🎈 - Awesome 👍
Thanks so much, Anne! We were super excited to hit 50k! :)
Great video I’m glad you didn’t edit out the mistake Amy you’re rocking it keep on grilling It will get easier the more you try
Thanks MIke..everything is a learning point for new bees and this was no different...we thought it was important to show the truth
@11:55 the silence after she said. " I might being stealing your show." ....LMAO
Nice job Amie. I’m m so new I haven’t turned my grill on yet! I will soon. Congrats on 50k
Awesome news....its a blast....hahahaha
I enjoyed the video!! I am glad you guys didn’t get hurt when lighting the grill!!
ahhahhaha as are we....
Honestly, you did better than I did my first try! LOL
I admire your dedication to not stage steps, showing a true beginner, will be exciting to watch grow, make mistakes and improve your skill level! 👌 Best of luck and looking forward to future vids!
Thank you so much!!
This was so much fun to watch and Congratulations on the 50k! Smash burgers is on my list of thing to do and am now more eager to try. I like the steak flavor idea sense I don’t get to eat those often. Thanks Amy!
Yay! Thank you!
Pro tip: Next time, before you blow up the patio you need to tell Neal, "here......hold my beer."
Glad the lesson didn't injure you guys.
Thanks Bob! I definitely won't make that mistake twice. 😂
Amy, We LOVE YOU SO MUCH ;0) That was on of my favorite vids yet.
hahahha thanks
Congrats on 50K!!!!
Thanks so much Tom!
Congratulations on 50k to a great team..love all your content and recipes that you bring on here🙌👍🏻. Thanks again and congratulations 🎉👍🏻🙌👌
Thanks so much Russ...
Amy you did an awesome job!. Neil was a good instructor but I think you are on your way! Cheers 🍻
shes getting better for sure..just about comfort
Amy I just bought a black stone and cooked smash burgers for the very first time yesterday. Everything you just did I also did including almost blowing myself up. 😂 great vid!
ahhaahh happens fast for sure
Delightful, really enjoyed seeing your wife trying to make smash burgers. I’m a beginner myself, hopefully I can do half as good.🤞🏻
we have many burger videos for beginners as well...you got it...
You two are a great couple. Your videos are absolutely awesome! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Lori! Glad you enjoyed it... we really genuinely enjoy working together, and I think that shows in our videos. :)
Go Amy! Awesome video! Congratulations on 50K!!! Thank you for making such great content!
Thanks so much!!
I made smash burgers for the first time yesterday and it does take practice. She’s doing it for the first time and she did 4 patties at once. I think she did great.
Hey thank you
Your wife was awesome. She should cook with you more. I actually learned a lot watching her make the smash burgers. I definitely want to try the goat cheese, smash burgers. Great job as always guys keep up the grade videos you guys are awesome.
Hey thanks bud...really appreciate that
That is about how my first smash burgers went!
Hey thanks so much buddy, really enjoy seeing your stuff on FB

.
Definitely will...thank you...cheers
Great job, Amy! I want to try the goat cheese. You are doing great. Keep up the good work. Today I will endeavor to make my very first smashburgers. I will do my best to make them without blowing myself up! Wish me luck.
Thank you! You too!...interested we have a video thats titled Smashburger mistakes for beginners and show common mistakes and how to fix em...
Amy did good! At least she tried! I will surely have to try one with goat cheese after seeing this. I'm the grill cook in our family. My husband does pretty good, but I'm excited to try a smash burger! I saw your smash burger mistake video first. That was great information. Although I didn't know there was so much to making a smash burger! 😊
Hey you would be amazed...literally just answered a question about not getting the crust on a burger...different video but i wish I could screenshot it...people are all over the place in there culinary journey...Thanks for the support
Congrats on your 50k!! great video and great job Amy!
