The Ford ranger did pretty well on such a strenuous trip
It sure did 👍
Thank you for sharing, I miss my country!!
Very, beautiful nature and country , iit was epic trio you guys had,Thanks for great series,👍😊it was one of the best yet 👍👍
You guys rock 🤘
Great Overland. 😍
What an awesome adventure. Fantastic video Christoff.
Thanks Will! When are you coming over? 😉
Epic video series mate. Thoroughly enjoyed the scenery. Thank you.
Thanks David, glad you enjoyed it!
Great Video! Laughing at the irony of having issues with the two Toyotas and not a single issue reported on the Ford. That’s very funny especially in a South African 4x4 comunity context!
Thanks! Just goes to show with hard overlanding travel you never know. I can’t have any nice things, keep breaking everything 😂
@@GetOutGO 😂
Christoff Thank you for an objective closure to this grueling adventure you and the rest of OE had ... All in all this trip will be in the top 5 of my bucket list
The state of the camps is not good .... your photo and camera work and presentation are absolutely MAGIC!!
Thanks Adriaan, glad you enjoyed it!
Another amazing video, what is the music used 8:58, it perfectly matches the images and is just gorgeous to listen to
Awesome post. great videography and drone footage.
Thank you!
Good day. Great adventure and production though there were up and downs👌🤙
Thank you!
Great Episode! On my bucket list to come here one day...
Thanks Henk!
The terrain is tough on your vehicles. Another great video. Thank you
Another great video and amazing series! Namibia seems to be rather rough on vehicles, glad it didn’t end the adventure, but just added a few days to it.
Thanks! My damage ended up at around R85k ($4800) total but fortunately that was covered by my insurance!
Beautiful place/ Country, going there end of September 😍
Thanks Christoff, enjoyably informative as always.
Thanks Michael!
Nice work 👍🏻. Unfortunate to have those vehicle issues but you guys definitely soldiered on!
Thanks Robert! All part of the adventure (although it might not feel fun in the moment)
Fantastic episode Chris.
Thanks Zacks!
Greetings from Austria🇦🇹 . Thanks for the lovely episode.
Griaß di! My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you
Thanks Chrisyoff epic episode
Thanks Shaun!
Great job, Chris n your teammates😊
Thanks!
I am stunned we did a similar camping trip in Etosha in 2017 and the campsites and roads were pristine can only think that covid took its toll but no excuse.NWR pull out your finger
Good ol Afrika..
Run down, expensive and then the attitude you get at many places.
We visited SA from Canada for 2 months in 2022. Traveled all over as we have in the past.. not sure that we’ll be going back ever. The steep decline is evident and frustrating.
That being said. You guys handle it well and I enjoy following along, keep up the great work guys! Safe travels!
I’m sorry that was your overall experience. I still love this place and will always call it home but it does come with a few challenges. Have you been to Botswana? If not, that, I can highly recommend!
Hi Chrisof. Top content as usual and really tastefully done. I have exactly the same Fortuner like you have. Had it for 5 years now. Only on 90k on odo. Busy with a few mods of my own. I think the d4d is somewhat bulletproof apart from my stock suspension. It's very unsettled on rough stuff or slightly bumpy roads. Too much steering feel as well. Any tips on the suspension perhaps
I’ve upgraded to heavier coils (needed for the extra weight I carry) and foamcell pro shocks from Ironman 4x4.
Thanks Christoff for sharing all of your adventures on such an epic trip! The campsite reviews are great pieces of information.
I've been considering getting a 4x4 for a while now so that I can get to places I've never been able to see. I'm starting to think that maybe a manual Fortuner d4d like yours might be a good option for me as it would meet my daily driver, space and reliability needs. Just wondering if you think they are still a good used option now in 2023 and what year/mileage would you look for if you went for one now?
Thanks for watching! You can still find reasonable d4d’s. Over 200k they sometimes need new injectors but otherwise they’re good for 500k km 😉
Thanks for getting back to me! I'll keep an eye out for one with good mileage. Looking forward to watching more of your adventures🙂
Damnit Chris. This was so good it made me burn dinner
😂 sorry!
This was a great video Christoff! Namibia is great! We did a similar trip in 2014 (wow, almost 10 years ago.) and NWR were all terrible. Okaukuejo, in the state you saw it was 5 star compared to Namatomi that time. It was disgusting. What a lot of people do is they go stay at Gondwana Collection's Etosha Safari Camp. Might be worth looking at that next time you go. But to be honest, if I want to see arid area wildlife I would much rather go to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
Thank you! Some of the bush camps we camped at in Namibia were great and I would recommend those to people but definitely not NWR as it stands at the moment.
@@GetOutGO Agreed! Ai-Ais in the south was the absolute worst! We did Gondwana Collection with the discount card. That was an absolute win for most of Namibia. Where to next?

thank you for sharing your adventures…..how often do you engage 4 wheel mode ?
My pleasure 👍 My Fortuner is permanent 4 wheel drive with low range, center and rear lockers. I will usually engage center locker in sand and low-range in thick sand and tough obstacles.
NWR are terrible!
My wife and I have done 2, one month trips around Namibia, mostly camping at NWR. The worst customer service we recieved was at Namutoni, Estosha.
As for Nambia being hard on vehicles... this can be very true. But, our first trip to Namibia we had no problems at all. The second trip we we broke a shock mount, could'nt get it repaired in Namibia we "limped" for 2 days to Springbok to have it repaired. Wild adventure!
It’s a real pity about NWR, common theme nowadays unfortunately though. Yup, if it’s adventure you’re after this place definitely delivers!
It’s a pity to hear your experience with the NWR staff, generally they don’t have great customer service despite having some of the best spots in the parks. Thank you for visiting our country and contributing financially and also by sharing your stories with the world.
I did report all of this to NWR at the time but they didn’t seem interested. I don’t like to share negative reviews but if you take the amount of international visitors Etosha receives and that they are charged N$500+ pppd just for camping (excl. park fees), I don’t think this is acceptable.
@@GetOutGO totally understood Chris. Even as locals, we tend to stay away from NWR just because they do not care about their facilities and customer service at all. I just hope this won’t put you off from visiting us again.
I will definitely be back and encourage others to visit as well!
Hi Chris. Great episode. Is there extra costs involved when organizing fuel through Collin at Puros?
Thanks! Collin or Manchester United trading post in Puros charges around N$30/l so it is quite a bit more than what you would pay at the pump. I couldn’t get hold of Collin last month either so not sure if he is still operating or not.
Ok thanks for info@@GetOutGO
Thanks for the amazing videos, have you ever done a trip to Angola?
My pleasure! No, it is high on my bucket list!
@@GetOutGO please try for Angola, it would be incredible to see and experience even via your channel.
When is the show going to Zimbabwe?
Maybe soon… 😉
Great vid!
Music is a bit loud, and itd be nice to hear more of the natural sounds and less music.. I keep having to turn my volume up and down..
Thanks for the feedback, I’m in the process of moving away from Adobe Premiere to DaVinci so I probably got the audio levels wrong on this one. Ps. What device were you watching on?
Disappointing stae of affairs in Etosha camps.
How were the Honey Badgers in camp at Halali (at night).
We did not see one strangely
Thanks for a great video. Can you please share Colin's contact details in Purros with us?
Thanks Andy! I've added his number to the description +264 81 671 0310. He is really difficult to get hold of though so keep trying. The little shop in Puros (Manchester United Trading on Tracks4Africa) also sells fuel sometimes but not guaranteed.
overlanding and tourism is destroying that place, they dont have the resources to keep things clean and protect the environment not for me
I would think that over-landing and tourism would be the source of their revenue to provide resources for upkeep and maintenance. Badly maintained facilities = less tourism = less revenue = less money to protect the environment.
Mismanagement and corruption is what ‘s destroying it…
