I think genetics has little to do with longevity of life, it is more about lifestyle: strong relationship bonds, exercise, healthy diet and cutting out the sources of stress.
@@Jon-dh3kiWhen Ikarians, Nicoyans, Okinawans --- especially the younger generation --- move away from their communities and, or adopt modern lifestyles, their health and longevity deteriorate and mirror that of their new neighbors. Likewise, when people move to Loma Linda, CA, and adopt the 7th Day Adventist lifestyle there, they live longer and better than they otherwise would.
These old people, at least in central Sardinia, don't need young people; they can feed, support and take care of themselves. It's all these city dwellers who are helpless.
I live in Sardinia, my aunt died at 101, my mother at 98 and my other aunt at 97 from covid, my sister's father-in-law died at 101, he went to the vineyard in the morning, came home, went up to his room to rest and never woke up. Never been in hospital, drank 2 litres of wine from his vineyard and three cigars a day. Cost to the national health system: 0, not a single euro.

Not really, they are self-sufficient families, they eat meat regularly, but they also raise rabbits and chickens, they are not a vegetarian sect. Meat was eaten once a week, either white meat or beef, all accompanied by fresh vegetables from the garden. Pork was slaughtered in mid-December, and nothing was thrown away. They made excellent cold cuts, hams, bacon, cheeks, lard, and put them out to dry in the kitchen where there was a fireplace. As a child, my mother would send me to buy fresh milk or cottage cheese with three eggs, since there was no cash money and barter was used. In June and July we would cut wheat, barley, broad beans, chickpeas, and with the durum wheat flour every week we would make bread in the wood-fired oven, a delicious bread, and for a snack my mother would take a freshly made focaccina, put some of our olive oil on it and a crushed tomato on top, and it was the end of the world. That was life until the 1960s, and I spent a beautiful childhood in the midst of nature. Then civilisation arrived with money and everything changed.

No, genetics has A LOT to do with it. This is scientifically proven true.

@@oakridgemall-8jl2h9f lifestyle and environment are important factors too. but genetics ARE very significant statistically as well. Right?
Has quite a lot. What an air headed comment 😂
Italy has too many old people, which if fine but they don't have enough young people to keep their system going to support all these old people.
They don't have too many old people, but too few young people. You seem very inconsiderate.

Why isn’t this area one of the Blue Zones?
@@ddino1271it is in the blue zone
I can imagine living an isolated life - away from the sick, entitled, selfish society we live in - can cause longevity. Sounds good to me.

Fake news, they have made many investigations and checked the area, the radiation does not exceed the natural radiation of the soil.
Lmao, the first scene of this video is of an old and sprightly pig farmer. But Dan Beutter be like Blue Zone people rarely, if ever, eat meat
