Dam $120 for a ti hardware kit. Hinderer definitely bends over their customers.

The big design difference, the Eklipse has no way to attach a lanyard. I forgot to point it out.

I've got to comment... I buy knives for using, not just carrying. Maybe my lifestyle is a lot different than yours, I live in my Xterra and have a Harley Road King that I love to travel on, but yeah... I'm hoping you're only joking about only using your knife for such a menial task. I just was lucky enough to purchase an Eklipse Swedged Spear Point in Magnacut blue G10 and Anodized blue... wanted FDE, Bronze anodized but I didn't even get to finish checking out and I got a notification that the quantity I ordered was not available, (SOLD OUT) so blue was a good fallback. Anyway, before this Swedged Spear Point Magnacut blade I would usually have either a Gail Bradley 2, Manix 2 XL or Grey and blue Griptilian, Super Freak or Contego in my pocket. Lucky I had just made this purchase because I don't know of any other blade I would have been able to use for something that happened to me lately. I locked myself out of my vehicle and I used the Eklipse for prying down the window and then cutting the window gasket to be able to get a coat hanger in the vehicle to trigger the lock button!!! Like I said, I don't know any other blade shape or knife I own that I would have thought of to even try that!!! It & I had our minor initial differences but we worked through them and now it's definitely a love affair. I totally agree with you on the ergo of the handle... the only other knife I have that comes close to being in the same category for handle versatility is my Spyderco Manix 2 XL. But now I love my Eklipse as it's just so much hardier construction let's me think I can do just about anything with it.

I think eklipse is way better looking than xm18 especially with the bowie which is the most attractive blade shape. Id assume eklipse is the flagship of hinderer because the design is more sophisticated. XM18 always look goofy to me maybe because there are more pictures of xm18 you are conditioned to think they are better looking.

Meh, beauty is in the eye and all that. The XM18 is the flagship because it was their first popular knife design, it probably still outsells the Eklipse 10-1. Having said that, the Eklipse has replaced both XM18s in my EDC rotation. I still think it’s no where near as good looking as the XM18. Now if I lived in a cold State, I would carry the XM18 over the Eklipse, at least during the cold months, I think the grip ergos of the XM are much better with cold / numb hands as it’s a more “locked in” grip.
