Even when I regularly pulled all day and all nighters for hand-ins for university (and I had a pretty long period where I only drank caffeinated soda and not coffe) I max drank half that amount in 24 hours. 1,8 liters of soda in a day is just crazy. After a while, drinking too much sugar it just gets so unappealing. And those nights after like a liters worth my body basically craved anything but sugar, salt, protein, some crunchy veggies or salad leaves. Idk. 1,8 liters that to me, is the size of a bottle I would consider a weeks worth of soda. Or for a family to share over multiple days. I don’t understand why you would sell it in a container that can’t contain the carbonation. And is a to go cup you would be expected to drink relatively quickly in the same day.

Those cups are great for road trips. Here in North Dakota the big population centers are about 2 hours apart so it's nice to be able to get a drink and have it last the 6 or so hours it takes to get from one side of the state to the other

A lot of it has to do with the driving culture in the US and Canada where people actually drive to reach places. You might be driving for most of a day, and want something to drink through it. And it is also common to fill them half with ice, to keep it cool for the full day, so you are only drinking maybe 1L, instead of 1.8L. We also have great access to free public bathrooms and rest stops on our highways, so you won't often be buying from multiple convenience stores in a single many hour trip.

I can't say this is why America does it, buy I know I appreciate it. I was born with this hydration issue that makes me basically drink fluids constantly. Getting a huge cup from a fast food place to cart ice water or some other sugarless drink in is hella convinient for longer periods. Especially since restaurants don't seem to appreciate you bringing your own drinks.
I don't have a condition, but I drink a ton. I'm about 6'1" and I'll drink 2 gallons of water a day if it's available. A 1.8 liter drink lasts me about 30 minutes at best.

Those cups are great for road trips. Here in North Dakota the big population centers are about 2 hours apart so it's nice to be able to get a drink and have it last the 6 or so hours it takes to get from one side of the state to the other

I can't say this is why America does it, buy I know I appreciate it. I was born with this hydration issue that makes me basically drink fluids constantly. Getting a huge cup from a fast food place to cart ice water or some other sugarless drink in is hella convinient for longer periods. Especially since restaurants don't seem to appreciate you bringing your own drinks.
I don't have a condition, but I drink a ton. I'm about 6'1" and I'll drink 2 gallons of water a day if it's available. A 1.8 liter drink lasts me about 30 minutes at best.
