    Note that summer rule can be different. Check your permit as there can be camping restrictions.

    Day 1: Happy Isles Trailhead - Clark Point - Nevada Fall - West Quarter Dome
    Day 2: West Quarter Dome - East Quarter Dome - Clouds Rest - Tenaya Lake
    Day 3: Tenaya Lake - Tioga Road - Snow Creek Trail - Mirror Lake Trailhead
    I planed to do this in 4 days but ended up finishing it in 3 days.
    I brought 3 traction devices; microspikes, crampons and snowshoes. All of them were very helpful.
    Based on the winter ranger report, there were 9.5 feet of snow.

    A frozen Tenaya lake under all that snow! A great view of this area that you don't see very often in these conditions. Very beautiful! I'm amazed how brave you are to hike to these remote places in the winter snow. Thanks for taking us along on the adventure.

    Yah, that was good. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure again. I don't normally like "Woo-woo-woo" songs, but that piece is a step above. We'll be visiting home with our daughter and grandsons this summer. Looking forward to showing the boys California. All best regards from Germany

      Do you know how to get to Pywiack Falls?

    • @jcaff6963
      @jcaff6963 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YongsungKim Yes, several routes in--via Tenaya slides route or Airplane canyon (overgrown and very steep). Wouldn't recommend trying to rappel Pywiack, but there is a route down via steep slabs that circles around P. It does require rope and raps further down to exit at Valley. I have the beta if you want it. John Muir ascended from the valley to the top solo. Had a bad fall, but was OK. If you just want pics from a great location, I can send you map--it's on the shoulder of Mt. Wadkins. I hope to do both the slides route and Mt. W, jr. this year.

      @@YongsungKim Hello Sir. I really enjoy your videos for there production value, views and most of all for inspiration. This will be my 1st visit to the Valley of the Yosemite & Sequoia KC NP’s over memorial day weekend plus. I see now that Mist Falls are close to the top of Vernal due to ice. Sequoia’s Genl’s Hwy portion is closed. I do wonder how things will be in a month, besides muddy as the inevitable big melt starts. Still going ‘cause it will be a unique experience. Hope we’re able to get some good hikes in. I'm bringing snow shoes just on case. Cheers, Happy & healthy hiking🏔🌄

      지난주말이었어. 고도가 낮은 지역에 그렇게 많은 물이 떨어질 수 있는 이유는 고도가 높은 지역에 저렇게 많은 눈이 쌓여 있기 때문이지. 지난 겨울에 역대급으로 많은 눈이 와서 올해는 아마 7월달까지도 다 안녹을거야.

    Love to see snow scenery! Wondering how long it took to get from the valley to west quarter dome on day 1. I'm considering doing this as an overnight out-and-back. What do you think? Are crampons/ice axe necessary before that point?

    • @YongsungKim
      @YongsungKim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I started 7am and arrived at west quarter dome 4pm. Highly recommend that you arrive at the park entrance early, like 7am. I heard that it's quite common to take more than an hour to pass the entrance these days highway 140 is the only entrance opened.
      Crampons will be helpful as the snow will be still pretty deep and soft. If you don't plan to climb Clouds Rest, you can leave ice axe behind. I needed ice axe only for the last 100 feet to Clouds Rest.

      @@YongsungKim Any advice where to stay the night before to get to the park entrance that early? Or just leave the Bay Area super early?

    • @YongsungKim
      @YongsungKim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a little secret to share about how I manage to go hiking so often in Yosemite and the Eastern Sierra-I never book a hotel. Instead, I follow a unique routine. On Friday evenings, I indulge in an early dinner accompanied by a glass of wine, and then retire to bed as early as 8pm. I wake up at 2am and hit the road to reach the trailhead. By starting my journey super early, I can shave off at least 30 minutes of travel time. As I pass the park entrance, I simply pause for a quick three seconds. It may sound a bit crazy, but trust me, it's not as bad as it seems.
