      *@Adam Alexander* , don't be a racist and a bigot! Mr. Douglas Murray is a gentleman, and Candace Owens is an amazing Lady. Both are very brave bright persons.
      The Western countries need more people with their mindset.
      Hopefully the western peoples (inclusively in EU-rope) will wake up for the actual disgraceful reality being aggressively imposed on us by the Marxist/Leftist plague & their allied unlawful invaders.
      You're obviously a Leftist virus infistrated in this Channel to poison the environment.
      Go home. Mad Marx & Allah & Hitler await you in their joint paradise.

      *@Adam Alexander* , Incorrect. If you want to talk about "copy-paste", it's enough to see your replies attacking all the comments around here, both in this thread and allover the comments' section. Everyone can see where your copy-paste is, everywhere.
      Mad Marx & Allah & Hitler await you in their joint paradise. Go swim in that lake of piranhas always crying like crocodiles with open mouth replete with long sharp teeth ready to bite the infidels who refuse joining that molotov&ribbentrop&SSharia intertwined sect.
      Go home.

      I think America is lost at this point because the seed has already been planted. Look how fast things are accelerating. As long as the left is profiting off racism it won’t end. As long as they can get votes by telling blacks that whites are racist it won’t end. We already know whites are getting the crap beat out of them by groups of racist blacks but it’s not reported. Imagine how terrible it’ll get as the white population shrinks. The left have turned every race against whites and when whites don’t hold the majority of government offices every race with a grievance against whites will swoop in to get their revenge and no one will stop them. People forget that America was called the “great experiment” and I think it’s safe to say the experiment has failed. It’s clear that a diverse society will never have the cohesion that a non diverse one has. The trade off just isn’t in any way beneficial.

    • @electricdreams8237
      @electricdreams8237 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Yeah, amazing how racist those times were.
      Thankfully, we are much better off now with measuring each other's skin melamine content and determining privileges and handicaps based on that metric.
      I hope they institute some kind of marker that can be worn on clothing for example that would signal to everyone exactly how much respect or scorn that person is entitled to, also what kind of institutional reception that individual can expect.
      While we're at it, everyone should have their ancestry analyzed so we can determine the exact percentage of privilege and categorize the population into classes accordingly.
      I am so glad we live in such enlightened, non-racist times.

      I'm halfway through it already! It really is an illuminating read. Like in 'The Strange Death of Europe', Murray has the ability to solidify those nebulous concepts that we all think and feel, but for whatever reason struggle to articulate. I don't doubt that it will become a bestseller, and deservedly so.

      yea.. even when such topics were approached, they were done... tastefully? like.. with an authenticity. Not plastered over to appear woke. There was this film... Enola Holmes? the acting was good but the writing.. oh dear.. it was soo cringey. I'm a woman, I couldn't take it. It was so in the face. As if.. women weren't capable of competence or strength unless they were stripped off their femininity.

    *As a 44-year-old, middle-class, white Brit, with a Masters degree in psychiatry, I reluctantly have to confess my lack of knowledge about Candace Owens' career until now. On the other hand, I have followed Douglas Murray's career with interest since I read a copy of his book; **_"Neoconservatism: Why We Need It"_** in early 2006. What an engrossing and excellent interview this is. I love the fact that regardless of the risk of the usual online ((and offline) cretinous abuse, these two people simply choose to speak the truth. I find it so refreshing in current times, for two (clearly) intelligent people, to say out loud, what I suspect a lot of people think on such topics. I very much look forward to watching a lot more of Candace Owens' output on TH-cam. It's just a pity that her show hasn't been picked up by the national BBC, ITV or Channel 4 networks here in the UK. I'll see what I can do! Best wishes to all x.*

    "It's something to do."; "It gives meaning." Such a deep, deep point. In the absence of religion or structured spirituality; in the absence of philosophy and the humbleness of the seeker being exaulted as crucial to a good life; this is a very important point.

      I think tha'ts what us older people miss. When we had traditional times like Easter and may day ,it was a part of our lives, that we did together and there was a continuity, although we probably didn't think about that while it was happening,I certainly regret that we have nothing much to bind us now as a community. We don't know our place in the world so much, and young people are making their own tribes now to make up for the lack perhaps.

      undefined freedom Murray's argument that I believe he makes is correct, that just when the West had never had it so good in terms of freedoms and rights for all, it bizarrely started to unpick all that through sudden self-recrimination and self-loathing. The beacon that the West had until recently been to the world is now no longer such a strong and bright light. How can this be so? With people around the world still gravitating towards the West? Well, the tendency of those Westerners who are not so proud of their particular country's achievements, of those who think their country still 'has far to go', and of those who seek to enter the West to live, is, these days, to demand their rights rather than broadcast their freedoms or cheer for freedom. There is a never-ending demand for rights in the West: it's one of the West's major weaknesses.
      The 2001 Durban conference, held in early September 2001, was a big pointer towards the way the West would be quickly perceived in the future. There, there were calls from Third World delegates and from left-wing Westerners for reparations to be paid by Western countries towards other countries that were once colonies of theirs. It was as if a statement had been made that the Third World should not have to try to help raise itself: it was the duty of the West to help it. (This conference has been largely and mistakenly forgotten about by the West because it was overshadowed by the events of 9/11 in NY a few days after it ended).
      The upshot of all this lecturing of the West is that the leaders of, and their followers in, the big and powerful authoritarian countries or nations around the world have become more emboldened and see the West as increasingly dissolute, weak, even morally decayed.
      Yet, even though back in 1982 Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder once sat down at a piano together to sing 'Ebony And Ivory', even though the recent Ebola crisis in 2011 or so was extinguished with massive help from the West (with Western doctors and nurses risking their lives to treat those afflicted whilst Boko Haram was on the rampage somewhere else not too far away), the West's smug and selfish detractors, many Westerners themselves, harp on and on today about the West's continued failings, and even its 'abominations'.
      Has anyone of black and white heritage (or of other different heritages), for example, sat down at a piano together to sing on television in any of the authoritarian countries of the world? To sing of racial harmony? Of a better future together? I doubt it. Is there even, in some of the authoritarian countries of the world, a single shop that sells pianos?
      The poor, poor West. Nobody gives the West a break. It's tried so hard to not just spread freedom around the world, but to entertain the world. We have the technology today, in this world, but so little fun and joy to derive from it all. In comparison to all the anger and cynicism anyway.
      Now it has been described, the West has, as the Christian West. And Western civilisation would not have been possible without a Judeo-Christian origin. I don't imagine an Elvis Presley now emerging from under the pagodas, temples, or minarets. Do you? Only in a land that has church spires dotting the horizon, I think. So not only does the West get a hard time, but Christianity, too.
      Where many of the West's great singing performers (artists if you like) emerged from is from a gospel choir.

    • @Dustshoe
      @Dustshoe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Just to add, you'd think Western society today is inclined to believe that the Disney movie Mary Poppins (from 1963) could be just as much a product of the entertainment industry of Kazakhstan as the one of the USA. Such is the appreciation we in the West have for our own great little cultural achievements, you know!

      @resigned liberal , this guy was a big history buff as a kid since tv was not an option living on a farm in the 80s. Rome was destroyed for a good reason. What did survive was the ideology of how to enslave people. We are seeing the volentary enslavement of persons by segragating themselves into a group that can be isolated and subjectated. As the romans did this to prevent a revolt, the UN is pushing it as the same context. Look at how the roman slave trade was structured then compare it to now.

    I'm the same age as Douglas and moved around several times when I went to school and race was never an issue. I went to a mostly white school and also to a minority white school in Philadelphia and the race of my friends had never acured to me. It was a better time in this country when character and behavior mattered more.

    She swings... it's a hit... and it's out of the park. What a great conversation. I long for sanity to return to the public square.

    The concept of furthering the lie, of lying under pressure which then functions to demoralize the person and make truth weak nailed it for me. That was Douglas Murray’s key statement.

    The opening jokes were brilliant!!
    Douglas Murray is one of my favourite debators. I agree with his points, especially his debates on Islam, skin colour, identity issues etc. Hope he comes to debate in Oslo again!! ❤❤
