Nine Sols - Not the biggest fan of metroidvania but this looks like they've dialled-in the tightness of controls with precise (but pretty) visual feedback and looks like a combo of skill, spontaneous reaction and tight moves to execute and overcome the challenges all within an imaginative world that looks the part. Wow. Eg as you say, "don't bumrush the bosses!" Animal Well - Probably the best-looking indie game I've seen this year: Those visuals, if it can pack in the content in the metroidvania exploration style then it could be right up there with the best indie games of the year.
Abiotic Factor was quite fun and I had a good time with it, I look forward to them finishing and continuing the story. Duck Detective was also quite good, cute game and fun.
6:32 TRUE!!! Games like Dark Cloud 2 and Rogue Galaxy (just to name two games with cell shaded graphics) live rent free in my head decades after their releases. I wish more games especially AAA games focused more on art style than who can have the most realistic looking ppl and setting.
You have to decide if you want to put the games on the list when they release on early access or when they release the 1.0 version. Songs of Conquest is 1.0, Hades 2 is EA. It's one or the other.
Awesome content as per usual! But, just checking: no best May trailers? I thought every month there was both best releases video and best trailers video.
I almost completely love the original hades but theres something about that keeps me from agreeing with everyone thats its the greatest ever. I just find it...good. not the best. Do you think the second one would do a better job at impressijg me? Im just hesitant about buying it if its the same thing as the first one...
plays and cotrols like a tank in a super market Cat game Maybe don't compare Nine Sols with Dark Souls, that nearly made me miss it in the first place. I like it, but I'm not sure if I want to get it right from the start. The only complains so far seem to be it's hard, so not to bad.
Hades II winning game of THIS year while in early access would be even better, to show you how big the gap truly is between the great games and whatever trash AAA studios come up with next.
@@hua.. Balatro is crazy, but a card game built around Poker isn't winning game of the year lets be real, "think of the children" mouthbreathers won't allow it.
Just shows how packed it was, thought I was done buying games around at the end of the month and got hit with Umbraclaw, Overbowed and SKALD releses back to back. 😭
@@peterc504 i hope you enjoy it mate, its not hollow knight or ori levels of greatness but its close to blasphemous and grime in my eyes. And i guess underrated is the wrong word but no one seems to be playing it or talking about it
This month is absolutely stacked
its actually too much 😅
When a game like crow country is number 7 you know this month was amazing! Animal well was a great surprise.

Animal Well is like Donny Darko and Twin Peaks had a child but it was a video game.
Hollow knight better
I have a uncomfortable amount of hours in hades 2 already. Worth every moment of my time. Animal well will be next up for me
Curious that you didn't mention 1000xRESIST. Couldn't blame you, the last month's been insane in terms of release quality and quantity.
Abiotic Factor was quite fun and I had a good time with it, I look forward to them finishing and continuing the story. Duck Detective was also quite good, cute game and fun.
Fastest click i've done

Animal Well is my game of the year so far. So creative and new. Such a fresh take on the Metroidvania (Metroidbrainia) Genre.
Thanks for showing us 😀🤘🏼
I had hoped to see 'Skald: Against the Black Priory' make the top ten. I am playing through it and it's absolutely amazing.

Nine Sol is the absolute awesome game!
Hollow knight better
9 and 10 are the only games I haven't tried yet.
Everything else is good in their own right.
Read a little on songs of conquests.
Locking game progression "on-rails" and then comparing themselves to HoMM 3 is such a bait-and-switch.
Ohhh, sounds wonderful @4:40 🎵🎶
duck detective isnt that one show that gruncle stan likes in gravity fall🤣
songs of conquest is in a class of its own
Hades 2 is a great game. I bought it the first day and I can't stop playing it. But is it really an indie game? What is meant by indie game?
Bunny & Steel its awesome, hard as nails
A lot of good stuff this month

Animal Well indy game of the year so far. it's layers and layers of gaming. It's not going to be for everyone. it's puzzles and searching a lot
People need to compare LKBC to the proper game: A Short Hike. It has nothing to do with Stray and very little with Untitled Goose Game.
Abiotic Factor is my favourite. Half Life mixed with survival
Hades*eye roll*

well it's not even the best indie game of the year, which, so far, has been Balatro
@@hua.. Balatro is crazy, but a card game built around Poker isn't winning game of the year lets be real, "think of the children" mouthbreathers won't allow it.
No Lorelei and the laser eyes or Isles of Sea and Sky? Those are my highlights of the month along side Animal Well.
Just shows how packed it was, thought I was done buying games around at the end of the month and got hit with Umbraclaw, Overbowed and SKALD releses back to back. 😭
Just waiting on Hades 2 dropping on Switch. Im playing that while pooping
Good for you
Dread delusion is not even on the list?
So kinda only Hades 2 huh...
Is anyone else concerned that his number 5 best game of the month he has barely played? It almost seems like this whole video is total bullshit
Why are games coming out on early access? What happened to the good old day of a finished game then buy lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Money. Try to make one game and you will probably understand lol.
Early acces is great in concept, developing a game with constant feedback and big changes
I heard they ruined Hades 2
Animal Well 8000 reviews on steam, Nine Sols 800, this is Unsighted all over again
What do you mean by that
@@peterc504 good game overrated, great game underrated
@@l0rdfr3nchy7 are you saying nine sols is underrated? I only played the demo but it was amazing and can't wait to get the full game

@@l0rdfr3nchy7 yeah it's more action oriented vs exploration like hollow knight. If it's like the demo in sure I'll enjoy it.
Naah this is crazy, incredible month, indie games own AAA companies so much, its not even funny anymore xD
hades 2 is propaganda
What tf are you on about
