I purchased this exact vehicle three weeks ago - absolutely love it. Great review - I learned a few things about my car that I hadn't figured out yet - thank you. I have a huge dog kennel that takes up a good portion of the rear cargo area, that rarely comes out of the car, so having the digital rear view mirror that provides perfect rear view vision as if nothing is there is such a great feature. I am confident that I got a lot of bang for my buck and the great safety ratings for Subaru are a big plus.
It has a stop start ignition but not the auto stop engine where it cuts the engine off at a stop (which I dislike anyways). The awd system is continuous providing power to all wheels and distributes torque ratio to each wheel as necessary to compensate for slippage.
I had the first year model Ascent after leasing two Outback models. I absolutely loved it. It was so roomy and had just enough power from the turbo. I had no complaints other than it being so much bigger than my Outbacks. I went right back to my Outback after the Ascent lease was up, but now thanks to your review I may go back to the newer Ascent model. Good review.
Thank you for a great review, you probably convinced me to go with this car, do you know how much mileage it will be for a full tank of gas? Do you have other reviews for a 3 row SUV with a captain chair such as this one with the price range, also with a high mileage. I thought about Mazda CX90 hybrid, which one would you pick? My wife is not ready for an electric car regarding the range, thus looking for a great SUV such as Subaru touring with a great mileage option and quality, your assistance is highly welcome! Thank you!
I’d recommend checking out both depending on what exactly you’re looking for. The Ascent is a little more spacious and you don’t have to worry about charging it, but the CX-90 is quicker and has more sporty driving dynamics. I know Jeep is doing BIG Discounts on their Grand Cherokees too and it’s also available as a PHEV 👍🏼
Hi, I just traded in a 2022 Outback Touring XT for the 2024 Ascent Touring and personally, I would recommend the Ascent for the cabin quietness and smoother driving experience. Unless you prefer a smaller overall car, then the Outback may be the better choice for you.
@@christineboone8373We have 2 medium (40 lb) Labradoodles, and are going to choose between the Outback and Ascent. Already test drove (without dogs) the Outback and loved it, but wonder if we should just go ahead and get the roomier Ascent. 🤷🏻♂️
my 2023 ascent 3rd row seat are a Joke worst when installn car seats.. wireless carplay disconnects every 10min,, 260hp 7 people goin up hills CVT screams for HELP.. front seats a/c fan gets LOUDER the more you use it,, no sport mode option button ,, when pressing pedal to go has a big turbo lag.. 3rd row headrest cant adjust for kids heads.. a/c full blast is really LOUD .. keyfob dont have remote start,,
That drives me crazy that there is USB charging ports etc on one side of the third row but not the other side? For all of that money you couldn’t put chargers on both sides so kids in the third row can argue over the charger lol.
It’s surprisingly indistinguishable from a usual automatic. Subaru also warrantied mine for 100k. I don’t know if that (the warranty) is still running though.
It's not just a matter of performance and efficiency. Reliability and repair costs is what matters the most for me. With koreans and chinese makers putting AISIN and DCT transmissions in their vehicles, and still offering very competitive prices and mileage even though the higher costs of those transmissions, it becomes hard to understand why top Japanese brands insist on that path.

Couldn’t agree more sounds like you have an awesome new ride! Good luck with it for years to come 👍🏼
My mother in law just brought this. Does the AWD kick auto when driving in snow?
Does it have the start stop button?
@@stevedott715 yes!

Insane new 2024 Subaru Accent I can buy.

Great review! I've been watching you for a while now, but you really do a great job with these. Keep up the good work!

I like that white Accord Coupe in the parking lot :)
Thanks for going through that!
In terms of cabin quietness and the refined driving experience, which one would you prefer, Ascent Touring or the Outback Touring XT ?

Amazing review bro.
Much appreciated! 👍🏼
My 2020 ascent does not have the start stop feature, does the2024?
I hear a ton of road noise.
I have a 2020,it’s luxury car quiet and ride.
Thanks for the information! 〽️👊🏼
How does the road noise and wind noise compare to the 2024 Ascent Onyx? The Onyx does not have the double pane windows sound insulation.
I guess even the base trim is quiete
Diesel is also at least $1 per gallon more....
Does it have the dang start stop feature?
yes, but I disengage mine and you don't have to do it each time you start the car
NO
Does it have heads up display on it?
No

He's the yummiest reviewer on TH-cam!
You lost me at "CVT transmission"
Toyota is putting them in many models, with turbo 4 engines. They are much better than Nissans. But, they may not give you the 200,000 miles!

Lol a diesel 4 banger would be lot efficient and enjoyable than gas Suv's.
Diesel is also more expensive
Cvt horrible
Is that why Toyota and Honda are using them?
Only 1 big MINUS is this fking display without physical buttons.
