You two should start your own Au Pair agency. I learned everything I needed to know pretty much from this channel. You're super informed and informative and no matter what country we're going to, it's really awesome to have a place to find out about things many of us would t even think to ask about until we're already stuck lol
@@aupairohparis6083 thank YOU for taking the time to educate us! 🥰❤ you've made my au pair experience way easier and significantly less scary. Bless you ladies! ❤❤❤❤❤
If you haven't done a video on it already I would love some advice about how to get into a rhythm with your host family. Most of my conversations with them are so awkward rn! I forgot how uncomfortable the first few weeks are. X
Hi there! Thank you so much for your videos. I was an Au Pair previously in Germany and don’t know if it didn’t happen to you guys but for me there was a kind of abuse in respect to the quantity of work and the kind of chores that I had to do. I believe I’m not the only one who had this kind of experience. The problem is that the law is not really specific about that and they just referred to them as light chores. I would like to know your opinion about this matter. Thank you again and good bye!
Your videos have been incredibly helpful for me! Question though: I'm 25 and intend to au pair in Germany in October! However, I'm stressing out about coming back and having no money. I currently have an apartment/job and coming back would mean coming back to nothing. I wouldn't be able to move in with my parents either. All in all, in your experience, when you came back home how did you survive? Did you make enough to feel financially comfortable coming home?
Hi girls! This video was specially helpful for me because I am definitely being taken advantage of and it's been a struggle letting my host family know that certain things are...well...slavery and that I won't do them. However, I have a few questions about things you mentioned that I did not find on au pair world (or anywhere else for that matter). You said we get to have 2 weeks off every 6 weeks but does that apply when you're just staying for 3 and a half months? Because I had 2 week vacations during easter and they said I either get only half the salary or work 60 more hours so I chose the last option. Also, do the babysitting hours add up to the 30 weekly hours? Because I have also been doing it a lot to compensate those extra 60 hours, although my family later added that after 8pm it only counts as half an hour (meaning I would have to do 120 hours to compensate the vacations I did not ask for lol). Thanks a lot!
Hi, thanks for your videos I am a first time aupair and my contract said five hours per day but sometimes I work 8 hours of more. They say please....sometimes they don't but I want to say no or ask for extra money for my time but do not know how, sometimes they invite me to go with them to the beach but when there they ask me to babysit while they go for walk or eat lunch, I am annoyed by this. How can I ask for extra money or say no in a polite way. How much money overtime should I ask for per hour for three children?. I didn't include in aupair contract because I didn't think I needed to. If you have time could you make video about overtime pay and how to say no politely. Hope to hear from you soon. Kay
I’m currently in Portugal with my host mom’s sister and the kids. They have 2 au pairs. So the sister asked if we could do a few hours of babysitting for her (even though the host mom said NO AU PAIR DUTIES on this trip) we said yes, to be nice, and ended up working 11.5 hours straight and then 8 hours straight. My host family claims to be very organized and they make a weekly schedule for us. However, they often ask us to come babysit or do extra hours out of nowhere. And when they forget something, we are somehow responsible for it. It’s tiring, and I’ve only been here 2 weeks. I don’t feel like they see me as a part of their family, but just as a worker. However, we only work like an hour in the morning and then 4 hours in the evening, so I have the whole day off. It’s a good situation in terms of money and location but not in terms of trust and family. Idk what to do. A few times it’s made me cry and want to go back to Canada. Any advice? Is it too early on to decide to quit?
My host family’s kids are also VERY rude, and we’re supposed to wipe their bottoms for them and brush their teeth for them, even though they’re 5. This was never mentioned until I arrived in Berlin.
Hey! I came across your channel and it's really helping me :) I have a question if you don't mind, is it okay to be speaking to several families at once when it comes to searching for the right one? I've never been an au pair but plan on going out to Spain in a few months to pursue it. Thankyou girls! x
Hello, this is probably off topic but I have few really smal handpoke tattoos, 4 on my hand so they can be seen in everyday clothing. Do you think it might occure as a problem to my host family? Thanks in advance, I love your vids, seen them all xx
Hey guys! Love the channel. Found out yesterday I’m going to be an au pair for the first time in Zurich, Switzerland and I’m really excited. There’s about 2 months until I go though , I’m wondering how to maintain contact with the family until then .. do I ask for skype calls or do I just keep it to WhatsApp every now and then or what do I do 😂 I also don’t wanna talk everyday online as that kills the whole first meeting vibe, any tips? :-) xx
Au Pair, Oh Paris thank you! I didn’t want to appear uninterested but I’ll defo just update them when needed :) just googled it oh wow 🤩 I’ll be sure to visit! 😂 thank you girls
Loved watching these videos as I’ve just left my first host family after only a month as I didn’t enjoy it at all but am braving moving with a new family in a different city!! Do you have any number one advice about making au pairing a successful experience? (I felt so awkward with my host family and never felt comfortable around them/in the house)
love your dress edwina!! thanks for the vid xx

Hi, could you please tell me or us on what questions aupairs are asked at the embassy??
