I believe Manwithavan is an account Magnus uses while on the move, playing on his phone. (which would explain both the rating and some of the plays he makes in this video and on earlier Titled Arenas. And the Dr. Nykterstein and Dr.Drunkenstein are pretty self-explanatory....
@@Pintkonan Can you explain? Alireza beat Magnus in that Marathon match did he not? And he also won the Titled arena before that. So you're saying it doesn't matter if Magnus's best competition is there or not?
kasparov9 His best competition is someone rated hundreds of points lower than him whose only notable victories against Magnus have come in a banter blitz competition (not the most serious play whatsoever) and a Lichess Titled Arena in which the players are matched together with those next to them in the standings? A tournament in which Alireza was nowhere near the top (aka not playing the top players) until about half hour from the end? A tournament that Magnus won so many times in a row that he donates all his money back to the site to go towards the next tournament? You middle-eastern fan boys are some fucking weirdos tbh. Delusional bunch.
kasparov9 Also Magnus played him two days ago and adopted him, in bullet. I’d be interested to see another top player get adopted even in bullet, even by Magnus. Especially since you consider Alireza his “strongest competition”.
At 7.35, when you were assessing the position of one of the Penguin's early games, wasn't. ...Bxb4 an option for Black? If axb4 then Qxa1+ and after the king moves to f2, White's Q can go to f6 to defend the mate threat with a block. I know this is bullet and hard to analyze too deeply however would this sequence have worked? Love your commentary btw Jerry! David from Australia. 😉👍
Supposedly, Carlsen was traveling in a van the first time he played on that account. I was never able to confirm that at all and logically that wouldn't make any sense, but it's fun to imagine whenever he's playing on that account he's actually traveling.
Carlsens performance in these tournaments vary a lot for several reasons. Sometimes he's serious, sometimes he's not. Sometimes he's streaming himself. Sometimes he's drinking while playing. Sometimes he's with friends. Sometimes he's in a car playing on a phone. And sometimes he's simply having a bad day 🙃 But being the best, he can allow himself some of the above handicaps. And then there are the Lichess rules about win-streaks and double points after you win 2 games in a row. That rule can lead to some wildly varying results.
My feeling is Carlsen isn't as on point as he was a year or so ago. He seems rattled lately, and not just on Lichess, just look at the banter blitz cup and his loss to Giri yesterday
Dillon, there’s something else: This model of tournament seems to pair a player with someone near him at the standings. Carlsen usually assumes the top spot early in the tournament I and keeps it that way for most of the time. The result is that he is often paired with the top five players while others face lower ranked players and work their way up, that’s what happened last arena when Alireza won. I’m not complaining it’s unfair, just stating what I noticed. If the tournament was divided in equal rounds where everyone played a same amount of times with the same players I suppose the outcome would be more clearly in Carlsen’s favor.

I know DrNykterstein and Drunkenstein is Carlsen cause I’ve seen him stream with both of those. How sure are we that manwithavan is Carlsen?
He has played with this account too once but he lost the arena. It is said that he was travelling at that time and had various connection issues.
well unless he's hiding another monster chess player in his van capable of defeating the best bullet players in the universe, it's pretty much 100%
He made that account "maninavan" when he was a passenger driving
Lichess Titled Arena 7
1:41:15 why is this a draw?
white didnt have enough material for checkmate
Heres a complete explaination. Black lost on time, but white didn’t have enough material to IN THEORY mate.

Red Kirby Yes it’s true, he was on his phone in a van. But it was the first time, not this one. He was way too fast here to be on his phone.

The way Carlsen played at the start of the tournament, I am surprised he actually won this...
Could be that he played while doing something else at first, he often does when its casual, and then decided to play more serious.
Greetings from Argentina
how come carlsen used to be able to win these seemingly so easily? did people start practicing bullet more?

Overstatement
indeed

white would have a forced mate with Qh5 and Qh7
Timo Joosten h5 is covered by the queen
Not sure, but looks like c5 could be a sick reply. Interference move. Black can prevent the mate but think I like white better.
