  • Are You ADDICTED? | Fr. Joseph-Anthony Kress & Fr. Gregory Pine
It's not only drugs, alcohol, or pornography that we may be addicted to... it may also be our phones, social media, and others' opinions... Are you addicted?
On this week's episode, Fr. Joseph-Anthony and Fr. Gregory discuss all things addiction, such as dependency vs. independency, ordering your life for good, dependency vs. attachment, how daily routines and rituals are a good thing, different types of addiction, reliance on our Lord, and even steps in overcoming addiction.
If you or someone you know desires freedom from addiction, consider the 12-Step Program and Catholics in Recovery: catholicinreco...

Perhaps not the forum for this question but any thoughts, input or advice on becoming a third order Dominican? Maybe even a future godsplaining video

When I was home raising my four children, I would sometimes get a little tired and cranky (imagine that?) and the children would say, "Mommy needs a little time under the Maple tree." They knew that if I didn't have my regular time outside with Jesus, I would get a little twitchy. 😵‍💫I'm dependent on Jesus for everything.

I don't know if you guys will see this question since this video was a couple of weeks ago, but do you think it might be possible to address the issue of understanding Cluster B personality disorders in the context of Christianity?
I guess it would depend on the knowledge you guys have of psychology. I used to think psychology was nonsense until I became engaged to a woman who was diagnosed with BPD, and basically switched into a new person over several months after being amazing for the previous three years.
I understood after that, that these conditions are real. But the more I learned about them, the more I feel it has undermined my understanding of the spiritual component of evil, and I began to attribute all evil as originating from trauma and genetics, rather than original sin, or being in mortal sin or under demonic influence.
It's odd to me because I feel this understanding did more to harm my faith than anything the atheist biologists like Dawkins said, even though they were overtly anti Christian, yet psychology as a whole to my knowledge has never been overtly anti Christian. It undermines the faith in a much more subtle way.
So even though I have been and always will be Catholic, I've noticed myself thinking in more material terms regarding evil and don't think these views can really co exist very well. If you delve into the psychology side of TH-cam, videos on narcissism have exploded over the last few years, even though, arguably BPD and psychopathy are more dangerous to be around and are part of the same grouping along with HPD.
So just curious if you guys have any thoughts on it, since I don't really have access to spiritual direction in my area that I know of, thank you for the show, and the guidance, praying for you all.

Don’t know if this may help. Borderline personality is a disease. It is secondary to trauma.
Yes, many borderlines have no insight, but some of us do (yup, I am one of them🤣).
I am in therapy. I have improved a lot. Only once in a while will I have toxic behaviors.
But** I am willing to be criticized and open to improvement.

Sometimes there’s fear of the baby getting thrown out with the bath water. Fr. Anthony’s mention of right order is a comfort to hear in regard to that. What’s the good in what’s going on, and how do we untwist/restore it (or play a part in doing so while God does the heavy lifting).
