No, the X-T30II is a brilliant camera. I got the X-T30 when I started out in digital photography and it’s an amazing camera. I’ve done everything from travel and portraits to landscapes and Astro. You don’t need the IBIS, use your ISO to allow you to use faster shutter speeds, and you can fine tune the performance of your Autofocus - pal2tech has some fantastic videos on that. I got to try the X-T50 at the X Summit and it’s a lovely camera but upgrading is completely unnecessary. It’s a step up, but none of the improvements will make much of a difference to your photos and there’s nothing that the new camera does that your X-T30II can’t do, except for a bit of an improvement in autofocus and IBIS, which will only matter if you want to take photos of birds with massive telephoto lenses.
Well it is actually something like 360mm in FF terms. Also the camera can only do 7 fps. It is cool, but wildly overpriced compared to what you can do with wildlife setups from Nikon, Canon and Sony which all blow Fuji out of the water when it comes to AI AF for wildlife.
@@spencergiles72 couldn't agree more . Rather than branding the gfx as a wildlife setup they could have announced a 500 mm prime f4 for the X series. They have high fps light to carry and are being used in wildlife . but the MFT gfx won't be able to fight with the sony a9 and the Nikon z series which are like stalwarts of bird photography.. the x series can take on. The z series but fuji is trying to boost gfx now
@@spencergiles72 That’s not the point. Medium format is, and always been, and likely always will be niche, with a specific set of things that it dies well above and beyond what other formats do. They all have their niches. Yes, 135 format is the most versatile platform, the platform that does the most things. But we’re not talking about that platform. We’re talking about medium format. We’re talking about expanding what medium format uniquely does, and doing the new thing for it in its own way. No one who shoots medium format would ever buy medium format to do what one would normally buy 135 format for. It’s not meant to compete in that way, or even compete at all. Hello, I have always been very satisfied with the autofocus and eye-tracking for animals on my XH2S. I am an animal photographer specializing in dogs. Unfortunately, since the last update for the XH2S, the autofocus has become very poor. It often misses the mark by several centimeters. When I check where the focus point (green square) was, which was on the eye, I see in the picture that the autofocus unfortunately focused on the tip of the nose instead. I am more than disappointed. Currently, I have a 2/3 rejection rate, just like in the old Fuji days. I haven't changed any settings, but what has happened since the last update?
I think it was a mistake from lack of sleep, It's not listed as combined on fujis websites and specifications and no indication on photos (as far as i know, the only cameras with a combined SS & ISO are the X-Pro range and the X100)

Looking forward to the 500 f/5.6 coming to XF mount in the future. Basically the same size as the Nikon 500 PF and slightly lighter, which means it will be incredibly portable for a lens of its kind. Should work well with a smaller kit.
How is the shutter speed dial combining the ISO dial? News to me and I cannot see from the picture how this would be. Can you explain it a bit more please?
I really wish they would update the 16-55 zoom to be more compact. Sony's new 24-50 is perfect for my needs and I'm about to pull the trigger on switching to an A7CII and that lens.
New AUTOFOCUS features? My xh2s can't focus after the 6.0 firmware. They've broken the camera. It's beyond bad..i'm really disappointed and i loved the camera, but now it's manual focus only...what should i do?
Appreciate this is not a top end release, however can anyone advise if, after a lifetime of the X series, Fujifilm has at last joined the modern photographic world with AF ?
It would have been nice to have the 16-50mm still be f4 on the long end for portraits. But this it's okay I suppose, 18mm was never wide enough for me.
Why Pal2Tech does not have those prepuction Fuji XT50 for testing? I saw fuji gave a 2K subscribed channel its pre-production xt50 for testing. Common Fuji
The X-T50 is a complete no-go for me. A non-reconfigurable film sim dial, a stupid q-button placement, don't like the slanted top design and it still uses the old ancient batteries, which have to handle the new sensor and IBIS... And the price is sooo high, might as well get a much better X-T5. Imho, the X-T50 is bonkers camera... Thankfully, my x-t20 still works :)
What a weird release the x-t50 is. Here in the Uk with the price reduction on the x-t5 there is not much in it, and the x-t50 loses on pretty much all counts. Yeah it is a bit smaller and lighter, but not that much. Yeah if there was more of a price differential fair enough. But this is a crazy release.
For all the complaining about the film sim dial…Omar tested it and liked it. Said it came in pretty handy. And his second video with the coffee was hilarious.
Omar is a great content creator but does that mean he represents the majority of the fuji community? Most people wont find the film sim with base sims useful at all
@@davidpearson3304 because most people do not use base film sims, they use film recipes. Go back here once you find a single comment in any social media platform asking "What is the base film simulation?". Everyone is asking for the recipe which you cannot save in the film simulation dial and that makes it useless 99% of the time. You dont use usually use the same white balance and tone curve for different film simulations because they render differently.
X-T50 looking really good and the price is great as well! Price in kit is still significantly lower than X-T5 body only. Can't wrap my head around people bragging about such good price over value.
I would like Fujifilm to produce a medium format camera with a new 75 megapixel sensor, more compact than the A5000 pocket (maximum 275 gr with battery and card) with a quality fixed lens with a focal range of 25-150 f0. 95 and keep optical viewfinder and generous grip and digital ND filters.
Have you viewed other videos complaining about the XT5 ... I'm a new photographer and have been wanting an XT5 from the XT20. I don't have time to dig up hidden issues. I was hoping you could address the issues about 40 mp not resolving on most lenses but instead only on some of the most expensive lenses when shooting raw files...I must admit at the cost of XT5 this has scared me kind of, a little. I don't mind paying more for great things but paying more only to find dead ends that should not be there is a problem. Also he was saying the build quality was lagging on XT cameras because it's no longer a premium line. All the premium focus is going to the XH line series
All good but when you buy an xt3 and then an xt4 with a focus behind the other brands and when they improve the focus it turns out that they leave your xt4 the same to continue selling other new cameras. Sorry Fuji, we're not idiots.
I'm wondering what the demand is for the x-t50 is.... It would have been way more interesting as the new x-pro to pair with the x100vi imho. 😵💫 Also if they are just looking to put that sensor in any "retro" body it would be amazing to have film simulations and the ibis of the x100vi to the camcorder format. Haha so sad that style of camera had been perfected for video and then abandoned for the likes of the T3i for content creators t__t especially in the age where video content reigns supreme having a more comfortable and convenient form factor and all the I/o that was being offered it's just silly that it was lost to time.
Sorry but this is about the XT5 not the new camera. I find that when I set the level setting to 2d it switches to 3D, nit what I want. is there a way to correct this?- Thanks inh advance.
Men... A lens doing F4.8 is not a great lens, specially for a all round service like they assume. During low light photographers will have to crank the ISO so much for getting a decent shot. F4 should be kept as the previous one to replace. For me no problem I use the 16-55 F2.8.

Chris please help. May you debunk the new update. Love my XT5 but after the update I went "love of my life" to looking at sony and canon today because my Auto Focus is null and void now.
New kit lens is 1/2 stop slower at f4.8 vs f4 and 7.5mm shorter at long end. Extra 3mm at wide end is great plus much better close focusing. Seems like a great lens for landscape / street but less versatile… overall kinda, meh. Was expecting a bit more.
Would love if Fuji focused on a new art type camera, very nichè, with some bald moves to separate them from the pixel and af race. Just make a beautiful camera with lots of film sim customisations and accessories. Stand out, be brave.
The 16-50 will retail for $100 less than the 16-55 here in aus. To me that makes absolutely no sense and its a bit dissapointing because the 18-55 offered such an excellent capable bench mark to the fuji ecosystem offering great results for such a reasonable price tag. If the price trend continues that way it is, people will be discouraged and default back to brands such as Sony or Nikon entry to mid tier FF for about the same price, and not have to anticipate the ground breaking firmware updates to improve AF, because AF is already absolutely dialled in on tjose kits
With the amount of followers you have, its a shame that #Fujifilm did not even invite you or sent those cameras to try them out. So many other TH-camrs with a few followers got them ...
Fuji sets these introduction prices very high. The 16-50mm lens could be nice, but it’s not fast and the price in Europe will be € 799. 800 bucks for a kit lens, that’s a joke, really.
That new 16-50 lens is going to be a massive failure for Fuji. Why would I buy it? They increased the aperture range to 4.8, they have decreased the zoom range by 3mm, removed OIS !!! and increased the price! This is not an improvement or replacement for the old lens. If the new lens was 16-55mm f2.8-4 WR OIS lighter with improved optics... then I would buy it maybe 😀
There is no reason for it to be a failure. Fuji camera bodys are getting ibis one by one, ois is not as necessary anymore, they went a bit wider rather then longer which is not going to make the lens a failure by any means. F4 vs f4.8 is an extremely small amount of light difference it only seems important on paper. While the WR, a completely internal zoom and improved focusing are huge wins. That lens is going to sell like crazy and will be as popular as the old one as the image quality will be better with the 40mp sensors. You have no idea what you are talking about.
I think Fuji completely run out of ideas, why do we need same camera as x-t5 just in different body and having still XS 10 XS20 it makes no sense this release. And this lense 16-50, seriously?? It needs updating 16-55 f2.8, also 50-140 and basically needs much more important lenses
what? did you say "combined ISO and shutter speed dial"??? wow that would have been cool, but i am afraid there is no ISO dial, and certainly no "combined ISO and shutter speed dial"
The XT 50 is a disappointment. It may be a disaster. I was waiting for the XT50. A smaller and lightweight XT5. At $300 less than the XT5 it is too expensive. The crazy film simulations dial that is not reassignable. The 126s battery. This is a no go for me. I’ll wait for a used XT5 at the same price as the XT5. I am angry with Fuji. I was on the waiting X100v list for a year when they discontinued manufacturing it. They never officially notified me of the discontinuation of the camera I ordered. They never apologized for discontinuing manufacturing the X100V. They never offered to put me at the head of the line for ordering the X100VI. Nothing. I preordered the X100VI on the 1st day. There are reportedly one million orders for the camera worldwide. After 10 weeks I cancelled the order. I bought a Sony A7C with the 35/1.8 lens. This may be a better setup than the X100VI. It is certainly cheaper. On 2nd thought maybe I’ll use and love the Fuji gear I already own. Clearly Fuji no longer views me as a valued customer. There are other manufacturers that will treat me better, I will continue being subscribed to your channel and watching your videos as long as you don’t focus too much on Fuji’s new gear. It’s a step up, but none of the improvements will make much of a difference to your photos and there’s nothing that the new camera does that your X-T30II can’t do, except for a bit of an improvement in autofocus and IBIS, which will only matter if you want to take photos of birds with massive telephoto lenses.
Hello Cris!!! Have you tested the 18-120 f4 from Fujifilm yet???
Oh my goodness, that 500mm and 100Mp combo for nature photography!!!
Different artistic tools to do different artistic work. This is just another brush for the medium format artist to paint with-it’s not meant to do the same thing as a 135 format artist would.
@@spencergiles72 Well aKcHeWaLly it’s more like 395mm due to its 0.79 crop factor… so comparable to the Nikon 400mm f4.5 for about $250 more. Not a bad deal imo, however an odd choice given the lackluster wildlife options for X mount
@@tygrubb I understand what you are saying but I just think it is a wild choice when tons of X-T5 and H-X2s wildlife shooters are begging for a proper 500mm or 600mm f4 prime or a 180-600 f5.6 to compete with Nikon Z and Sony's offerings...The consumers buying GFX are not at all the same market who is wanting a 400mm tele prime. Why not serve the market that is begging them for teles?
I love fuji and my X-T5 has been a great do everything well camera. But I am also a bird photographer and I am leaving for Nikon Z8 + 180-600mm + 500mm 5.6 pf. Way better IQ and AF in the lenses and bodies. I would prefer to stay with Fuji but they just seem misguided when it comes to wildlife (and that is fine, it isnt their lane but it would make more sense without odd choice like releasing this lens for GFX...)
3:02 You sure that's a combined shutter speed and ISO dial? How is that gonna work as an ISO dial?
I think it was a mistake from lack of sleep, It's not listed as combined on fujis websites and specifications and no indication on photos (as far as i know, the only cameras with a combined SS & ISO are the X-Pro range and the X100)
would you think that the new fujinon 500mm not suitable for the older gfx 100s
Fuji: What if we made the XT50 less serious AND massively raised the price? It's genius!
Fujirumors is reporting better pre order numbers than any previous X-Txx camera 😭😭😭
@@jerclarkedotorg yay for fuji? Shitty products sell well all the time. Bad for us though, unless.you enjoy having way fewer choices in the lineup and paying far more for the few there are.
@@jerclarkedotorg That doesn't mean a lot. I am a RAW shooter who has never used film sims...but I am getting this camera because I want it as my everday carry and little brother to my XT5. As dismayed as I am about the addition of this gimmicky preset dial, the rest of the camera is just what I want and I will get used to ignoring that dial!!! I wish it was cusomisable though
Awesome video, Chris!
By the time , it comes to getting a new camera it might be xt6 coming out you think 🤔 ...
Looking forward to getting the 100s ii ..beast
I wish the 500mm was available for the XH2.
New AUTOFOCUS features? My xh2s can't focus after the 6.0 firmware. They've broken the camera. It's beyond bad..i'm really disappointed and i loved the camera, but now it's manual focus only...what should i do?
Welcome to sony😅
That’s a bummer no xpro 4 that’s what everybody’s waiting for
It would be welcomed if Fuji decided to update the 50-140mm
soon we can do sports and wildlife on GFX cameras. Absolutely nuts :D
Aw man the x-t50 looks great! But i just got the x-t3 in today..
Appreciate this is not a top end release, however can anyone advise if, after a lifetime of the X series, Fujifilm has at last joined the modern photographic world with AF ?
If that XF16-50 was constant F4, it would be a perfect kit lens for sure. What an weird strategy of Fujifilm that I really don't understand.
Just add this to Fuji’s weirdness.

More gear? Yes please!
Common Fuji
Pal has obviously pissed off someone at Fuji
The 1.4 TC will convert this 500mm lens to 700mm, not 900mm as you stated. But otherwise a great video as usual!
Are you sure the 1.4x teleconverter takes the 500mm up to 900mm? My admittedly poor math skills calculate the result to be 700mm. 😊
Thank you
For all the complaining about the film sim dial…Omar tested it and liked it. Said it came in pretty handy. And his second video with the coffee was hilarious.
Omar is a great content creator but does that mean he represents the majority of the fuji community? Most people wont find the film sim with base sims useful at all

X-T50 looking really good and the price is great as well! Price in kit is still significantly lower than X-T5 body only. Can't wrap my head around people bragging about such good price over value.
It's $1500 with the 15-45mm... or $1800 with the 16-50mm.
Not that "great" of a price...
No OIS on this new standard zoom? What a shame.
The xt50 has stabilization so who cares fella?

Had an issue called them and received great support. All fixed. Then I went Sony and micro 4/3. Have a nice day
My autofocus works just fine with the latest firmware update on my X-T5. Maybe it’s a you problem
@@davidpearson3304 astute observation. You really helped lol
It's like a XS-20 pro
Oh fuji didn’t send you a sample device huh.. weird, considering you are one of the bigger fuji content makers.
Hey Pal how come you're the only vlogger that didn't get a pre-release to test? Are you persona non grata now? 🤔
There are other manufacturers that will treat me better,
I will continue being subscribed to your channel and watching your videos as long as you don’t focus too much on Fuji’s new gear.
