Let's put it this way: an anthropologist surveyed a group of people giving them options to change their lifestyle to improve their health and to save their lives. Only 20% were willing to change their behavior to improve their health and save their lives. 80% would go on with their life killing behavior, KNOWING it was killing them.
    We're toast.

Here it is, 2023. We have just recorded the hottest average world temperature for 3 days in a row. 70% of all species on earth are dead. Mass human migration from the equator to the north due to crop failures. The entire country of Uruguay has only 10 days of water left. Recently South Africa had the same problem. Wet bulb temperatures have appeared on the planet. Permafrost is melting, releasing massive amounts of methane. I pray that we all have grace and understanding for our fellow living beings. As we move forward.

Oil production is topping out, renewable energy has come down in price by a lot, China installed more solar energy in 2023 than the US has its entire history, some countries are running 100% on renewable, global temperatures are at record high levels, major cities like Mexico City are running out of water, and Guy McPherson is still going pointing out that we’re living in a mass extinction event as global warming feedback loops have begun and there is little hope to turn around this ship going off a waterfall around.

Alot of these problems stem from our terrible political system. How could someone with influence in government (a panel) or the United Nations not see this coming 10 years ago? Who actually thought we could increase oil consumption every year (at 86 million/day) and continue forever at that pace? Who actually thought our society and suburbs would continue to grow forever?

At the current rate of development there isnt enough electricity to replace the energy and products created from oil by a long shot. But its true that a serious restructuring of life to a less energy dependent one can make the transition easier. But that requires leadership and as Guy McPherson states, its nowhere to be seen. Its business as usual. This kind of behaviour will make the fall so much higher than it should be. Lets hope people wise up long before that, time is running out.

He's clearly very intelligent, but his chronic instinct of wanting to explain how the future will pan out, when the overwhelming majority of humanity only wants to hear fairytale stories, amounts to self-psychological torture. Guy: forget your teacher's instincts, forget your fellow human beings. Humanity will have to deal with its collapse in real time sooner or later.

McPherson didn't allow for new technology, for example, fracking. But without a crystal ball, how could one do that.
McPherson's other insights into climate change are also susceptible to technological discoveries / improvements. But he addresses this concept when he allows for miracles, i.e., game changing technological discoveries.

Yes, "peak oil" has been debunked. Also in 2009, the year after this video was made, wikileaks released the leaked the climategate emails which proved that the top climate scientists associated with the IPCC conspired to mislead the public and published fake climate data.
Like Peak oil, Catastrophic global warming is a hoax. You've been duped by dishonest climate alarmists and the Democratic party. They are greedy kleptocrats who promise you utopian socialism but really just seek to make energy prices skyrocket by scaring the hell out of everyone and get filthy rich doing it while you get poorer.

Well that 80s style Republics president Obama (yep he flat out said his policies are Republican in the 80s. Jimmy Dore video shows it) opened the Arctic up for drilling multiple times. That wasn't feasible before because the Arctic was bigger.
And yes fracking has increased production. Of course you better not have any flammable material near your running faucet because it might catch fire. Small price to pay though to keep oil production high.

We survived before oil and we'll survive again after it, common sense. Our lives won't go back to the Stone Ages either because alternate energy will replace SOME "necessities" we rely on that need oil. I don't understand how some of you people can live thinking like this. Are you trying to make yourselves depressed? You'll be just fine, maybe a little bit over extended for awhile, as long as you switch to electronic cars, solar energy, and try to grow your own food and stock up on water+seeds.
