Completely agree! I can't believe that people say he is whiny in this book, and are so judgmental. Like, put yourself in his position and be a bit empathetic, he has freakin' PTSD! There are literally only two scenes where Harry loses his temper, in an 870 page book, and people constantly whine about how whiny HARRY is being. It's ridiculous. Personally, I actually thought we get an extra helping of Harry's sass in this one.
It's actually my favorite HP film. It is finely directed, very intense and dramatic, has expanded the lore and history, new characters. And has the best magic scene in the series: DUMBLEDORE vs VODEMORT in the ministry of magic. I re-watch that one religiously.
The progressively darker tone of the movies is also the way Harry is watching the world change and how he views the world in general. A child versus a traumatized teen has a different perspective and more so as realism becomes more prominent as we grow up. The color palette of the movies reflects this. When Harry gets into Hogwarts and sees magic for the first time everything is like a fairytale for him. He is a little boy and color explodes in his eyes and as he grows up darker colors and grey blends in and he starts viewing the world differently. His perspective shifts as he grows into a teen and an adult and with everything that keeps happening to him the world becomes a bleak place and the direction of the movies reflect that.
Well said and the films don't merely progress once or twice, the tone and visual progrssion happens throughout all eight films, it's quite beautifully done
She got a fate worse than death. After Kingsley became Minister after Voldemort's death, he gave her a life sentence in Azkaban. Although the Dementors we're Disbanded for their affiliation with Voldemort.
I wish that every time a Harry Potter movie has its 10th or 20th etc anniversary, that all theatres around the world would play the movie again. That would be so nostalgic, make it happen.
Jeremy, you have been by far one of my favorite TH-cam or's for years now. I always stop what I'm doing when you upload and I love hearing a personal thank you like that to the viewers! Thanks for all that you do, also where do you live? I'm just curious…keep up the excellent work!
1. Goblet of Fire 2. Prisoner of Azkaban 3. Deathly Hallows Part 2 4. Philosopher's Stone 5. Order of the Pheonix 6. Chamber of Secrets 7. Half Blood Prince 8. Deathly Hallows Part 1 9. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
I think Sirius' death in the movie was one of the most emotional scenes for me. Since I have read and reread the books countless times, it really was tragic. And the scene itself... how Dan Radcliffe screams and crumples in Lupin's arms as Lupin holds him back... all without any sound... gets me every time.
I love this movie! I have heard from a ton of people that it is their least favorite and I can understand that to a degree. For me this is my favorite book and movie because it is the first time I felt truly connected to the war and struggle against Voldemort during his first rise to power. The previous years focused mostly on how the struggle effected the Potter family but now you realize that they were a part of something much bigger than themselves. It always made sense that Hagrid, Minerva, and Albus would look after Harry because they are caring, but now you realize how connected they were to the Potter family. The Order is Dumbledore's Army. He created it to keep an eye on the Longbottom's and the Potter's in case their son was the one that Sibil made the prophecy about. As Harry realizes that the war is starting and that his family is at the forefront of the resistance he starts to wonder what his place in the world will be. This is when he grows up. The O.W.L.S. are exciting and the way that he resists Umbridge is parallel to the Order of the Phoenix's resistance against Voldemort.
It's my most favourite. I think it has one of the most effective arcs for Harry in all of the movies, and I love the way it culminates: When he's fighting Voldemort in his mind. Other series might have found a scene like that to be corny or overly sentimental, but Harry Potter commits to it and it makes it work. It also contains a lot of my favourite scenes in the series, and I do think Sirius's death in it works tremendously. For me, this is the prefect culmination of the two tones of the series, and it has some excellent dark and lighter moments. My second favourite is Deathly Hallows Part 1.
personally this is my favourite film in the series, I felt the characters developed most in this film of all of them and I found myself enjoying the series as a whole a lot more as a result of this film, It definitely isn't the most exciting or action packed, but I enjoyed it more than any other
I'm totally in with that. Except maybe sorc stone and chamber of secrets would be less enjoyable to me on the basis of me being an adult while those were aimed at a younger generation. Order of the Phoenix was the first time we really got to see the students throw down in a life and death fight. It will probably always be my favourite.
Taylor Robinson I have mixed feelings with Order and the Phoenix, definitely pissed me off when Sirius died. I really wish he hadn't died by bellatrix lestrange maybe a more iconic protagonist. Some parts of the book really dragged on, but other than that and the fact that Harry is pissed for more than half of the book it's enjoyable like he others.
So, basically only Voldemort was worthy of killing Sirius because no one else is more iconic with the possible exception of Lucius Malfoy, who I would say is on par with Bella.
Taylor Robinson it's so amazing that all these 8 films are so fucking amazing that one can choose anyone as their most fav or least fav! people's opinions even match and can be totally opposite on that! these are fucking great set of films and I'm glad they just stick with the progressively increasing dark tone as people grew up(I grew up along with these movies right from child to adult) rather than just pandering to kids for every movie!! and thank God WB made these! even LOTR!! Disney would never have made these as good as they are!! even Apes trilogy is made by WB!! ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥👌👌👍
Yeah, the fact that Sirius died was incredibly heartbreaking, and it almost seemed unnecessary. Harry is incredibly moody in this book, but one of my favorite aspects of both the book and the movie was Dumbledore's Army. Seeing Harry as a teacher and reading about the beautiful bonds of friendship develop among the characters was great! And also, Dolores Umbridge has to be one of the most despicable villains ever, so seeing Fred and George best her was also a plus:)
I love that you are doing these reviews right now. I'm reading the books through for the third time now, and just did a marathon of the first 4 movies and will do the next 4 soon. The last movie is my favorite. It is epic and wraps everything up in a bow.
The moment Harry crypticly told Snape that Sirius Black was in danger, while being interrogated by Umbridge.. that's the scene that I'll remember from this movie. Umbridge was great too as a villainous teacher....
Literally just sat down this month and decided to read all the books. I have never read them before, but have probably watched each of the HP movies a few dozen times. And I will say that I enjoyed the books so much more than the movies and I LOVED the movies. There is just SO much detail into every little thing that the movies just can't possibly touch on that you can only get in book form. This video is what convinced me that I should read them and I am glad I did. You are absolutely right about Sirius and not giving a toss about him in the movies. Anyways, I now need to find a book to fill the void HP left after I finished ha ha.
"I know its not a real Harry Potter centric time right now" Uhm Jeremy, you do know that harry's birthday is on July so it is a Harry Potter centric month right now.
ootp is the longest book yet its the shortest movie and that;s pissed me off so much for so long because theres so much they shouldve put in yet didnt really
Is it really significant? I’ve read books 4, 6, and 7 only btw. OOTP, the film, felt a little bit like filler. Sure, it expanded on some key lore, but I don’t really feel it went anywhere.
I don't care about them, I'm just happy that the Weasley twins exist in the Harry Potter universe. Both are so awesome, too awesome to die as wimps like Dobby & Dumbledore.
Jeremy, I just happened to decide to reread the HP books at the beginning of this summer, and coincidentally I've been reading each book as your reviews for their movies came out. And you keep beating me! I thought I might get you becuz of the long break btwn reviews of 4 and 5, but since it's the biggest book in the series, I was just shy of getting it. Keep the content coming, man! We love hearing you prattle on about anything. Especially Harry Potter
It's funny, it's probably my least favorite book but one of my favorite movies. I think the dark tone matches what Harry was feeling without being so angsty like in the book
It's my favourite one to be honest. Don't know why people dislike it. Has the only good battle/dual, only villain I really hated (umbridge), every character is well balanced and the only good death scene (Sirius) except from Dumbledore and Snape of course that mattered. Most importantly though, it's the only movie that stands on its own, I can go in to it having not seen any other and still like it.
The only reason I watch you is that I like how you talk about things. I'm not big into movie reviews but I like your approach. It's like listening to a friend.
Harry Potter and the Order Of The Phoenix, is my very favourite I think it breaches the topic of loneliness and knowing your not alone even when you think you are, really loved that. I love how even through the dark parts there are still people like Fred and George or Luna trying to fight back. I'm not sure why but when in films/books there's that dark depressed tone, then it starts getting better a slow trickling of light entering the dark I just love it. Even though the dark was still there continuing throughout the other films, it seemed that this film really made viewers and the characters and readers ready for what's to come.
I never really thought about how much the books helped cover up some of the movies flaws for me. I read the books as they came out, so I was deeply attached to everything, including Serious. When I watched the movies I never felt like his development was poor because the books filled in all of the gaps. Interesting to see what you thought of it Jeremy since you didn't read the books first.
saskue357 you cried? Hmm. I didn't seem to care when he died. I was wondering why Harry took his death so hard but then I had to read about their relationship in the books to understand
Kinda wish you had touched on Dumbledore's duel with Voldemort, there's a lot going on there. When he first appears, Voldemort's smile fades for a second, his demeanor changes. He's still afraid of his old Headmaster. Then I love how Dumbledore addresses him. "It was foolish of you to come here tonight, Tom." Tom. Not big, bad, scary Voldemort, Tom. Calling him Tom to his face is the ultimate way of letting him know, you're not afraid of him. They even call back to it in Deathly Hallows Part 2. When Harry's fighting him in the tower he says, "Come on, Tom. Let's finish this the way we started it." It's great moment in the series and one of my favorites for sure.
Phoenix was my favorite book. When Dumbledore showed up at the Ministry, I really felt the relief the kids were feeling. I was truly terrified when Voldemort possessed Harry, and I really felt Harry's rage when Dumbledore said, "I know how you feel" after Sirius died. Having said that, I do have to agree that none to little of that transferred to the movie. My love for the book means I just can't call this my least favorite HP movie, though I will call it the least successful. That might be a weird distinction, I know. But my least favorite movie has to be Half Blood Prince. In the book, it's explained why Snape is the title character and in the movie it's not. When he reveals himself at the end, I thought. "Well, yeah I knew that because I read the book, but taking this movie by itself, who cares? What does it mean?" There's just nothing there to latch onto. Without that explanation, the words "Half Blood Prince" are just some words and I think the explanation should have been given. That makes it more flawed than Order of the Phoenix in my opinion.
not surprising it's your least favorite. Its my least favorite too.... they did the emotions WAY better in the book. like when Harry Potter is SCREAMING at Sirius' death...heartbreaking shit
TheMRStudio the problem is the spells aren't consistent from film to film. Cedric dies instantly when hit with the AC curse. Here Sirius has time to draw one last breath and look at Harry. Also the spells aren't discernable. They all look alike visually and have the same effect. Just knocking people over or unconscious. In the book each of the DA who went to the ministry more or less have their own favorite spell making it a "fun" read because the effects are described.
the spells thing makes sense since CGI wasn't up to where it is now, and the editing process would take MUCH MUCH longer if they were completely consistent with the spells. What went wrong, is the character. In the book Harry's relationship with Sirius is much more developed. Sirius doesn't get nearly as much screen time, and every second he's in frame you just don't get that familiar sense you do in the book. Now don't get me wrong he soaks up all the timecode on screen but it just wasn't enough to sell "this is Harry's last living family member, someone he sees as a father figure and if he died harry would lose it". They also didn't show Harry's emotional breakdown, which really could have helped Harry's character as well. Showing he's just a kid. A kid who's experienced literal hell.
I absolutely love the score for the Order of the Phoenix. It really is quite different from the rest of the movies, so it does stick out, but I honestly couldn't care less. It's actually probably one of my favorite movie scores in general, not just in the series.
I know this is not a common opinion, but honestly, this one is _my_ favourite. (I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I had a very Umbridge-like teacher in Grade 7, and as such the hate for her character was tenfold, as was the satisfaction with Harry's "But I must not tell lies" line.)
I think the ones who find it the worst are readers who actually read the book just like me.... I mean the movie stands apart but I am dissapointed to see they didn't include many factors in the movie:- 1. Ron and Hermione becoming prefect. 2. Ron becoming Gryffindor keeper. Hell there were no Quidditch matches. 3. Gryffindor winning Quidditch. I mean they are the things that really showcased that Ron is not just a side-kick. 4. Then there was that part where Hagrid was attacked by Umbridge a d Mcgonagall was stupefied. We readers want to see these scenes projected on the screen in real. 5. It was Dobby who showed them the Room of Requirement. It was Dobby who gave Harry gillyweed in the Goblet of fire. Dobby worked in the school but it wasnt shown. Why???? Winky was not even shown. Goblet of Fire last scene where Barty Crouch Junior was investigated then he said so many things but guess what nothing was shown clearly, as if the movue was on a rush. Biggest blunder was the Department of Mysteries. J.K. Rowling wrote the whole two chapters describing how they fought the Death eaters and the lot didn't end up in the Prophecy room just like that. Those scenes create tension, excitement and I was disappointed to see that Harry got to hear the prophecy and even handed it to Lucious Malfoy. God!!!! Dumbledore himself said that in his office. I am not at all satisfied with the movie.
For everyone who wishes they were Harry Potter... Get raised by terrible people for almost 11 years Get bullied by a blonde kid Get almost choked by a guy who's got the man who killed your parents on the other side of his head Have people think he's secretly the heir of slytherin Get bitten by a giant snake Learn that one of his parents friends betrayed them Have dementora constantly attacking you Get attacked by huge spiders Ultimately cause the rebirth of lord Voldemort Get placed in a tournament that he's unprepared and not ready for Get attacked by a dragon Get attacked by sea creatures Get attacked by Voldemort See a fellow classmate/friend die Have the man who killed your parents reborn in front of you Have nightmares every night Get attacked by Voldemort in your mind Get tortured by toad face Have people not believe in you Have Voldemort attack your mind See the only family you have left killed See the man you trusted and were close to killed Get attacked by some weird ass lake people things Have to got out and destroy the horcruxes See your parents grave and destroyed house See the house elf who saved you and you grew to be close too die in your arms See friends and family attacked and killed The place you called home for so long gets destroyed Not to mention all the other people that died like moody And the most important one, not being able to kiSS EMMA WATSON Except in that weird horcrux vision...
As Jeremy put it, yes i do indeed enjoy watching him prattle on about the stuff he likes. But I also enjoy these Harry Potter reviews because of the nostalgia. And also I think they are good for the channel; it's been really nice to have a series of reviews to look forward to alongside the reviews for the current movies in cinema. Pretty nice! I hope he does another "side-series" of reviews once he's finished Harry Potter :) Thanks Jeremy!
Its actually my second fav behind Azkaban. It goes for me 1: Prisoner of Azkaban 2: Order of the Phoenix 3: Chamber of Secrets 4: Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 5: Half-Blood Prince 6: Goblet of Fire 7: Sorcerers Stone 8: Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 Still love them all regardless of ranking and I would throw Fantastic Beasts somewhere in there but I have not seen it yet.
This movie has a special place in my heart. My parents gave me the movie On DVD for Christmas along with 1-4. This one has always been my favorite, I don't really care how different it is from the book.
Hum, what you said about Fudge's reaction, I actually never thought of it that way... Although, come on, he still sent Umbridge, that's unforgivable..!
Prisoner of Azkaban Deathly Hallows pt. 2 Half Blood Prince Order of the Phenix Chamber of Secrets Sorcerer's Stone Goblet of Fire Deathly Hallows pt 1 Not that DH pt. 1 is bad or anything it's just not the movie I jump to when I say I want to watch Harry Potter.
I agree. I do genially like to hear you pratol on. Your videos are great! Your well spoken, your timing and editing is really spot on. I am not a big Harry Potter fan, but I enjoy watching your videos. PS: Can’t wait for more Star Wars movies. Love your reviews and spoiler reviews.
Sir Smiles probably because they were, at least imo, shoe horned in without really setting up why they were needed nor illustrating properly how big an ordeal they are for Harry.
Pott-head for life! I'm so happy you're reviewing this franchise and that they inspired you to read the books. Book/Movie rank: 3, 1, 5, 6, 4 , 7 and 2.
Favorite to least favorite (movies not books): 1. The Prisoner of Azkaban 2. The Deathly Hollows: Part 2 3. The Order of the Phoenix 4. The Sorcerer's Stone 5. The Chamber of Secrets 6. The Deathly Hollows: Part 1 7. The Goblet of Fire 8. The Half-Blood Prince Come at me haters 😝
InBedGamer 1.Half Blood Prince 2.Deathly Hollows part 2 3.Goblet of Fire 4.Deathly Hollows Part 1 5.Prisoner of Azkaban 6.Order of the Phoenix 7.Chamber of Secrets 8.Sorcerer's Stone They're all great movies.
1. Goblet Of Fire 2. Chamber Of Secrets 3. The Deathly Hallows Part 2 4. Sorcerer's Stone 5. Order Of The Phoenix 6. The Deathly Hallows Part 1 7. Half Blood Prince 8. Prisoner Of Azkaban (yes you read that right)
Trolling Jukesmaster How can you do that to _Prisoner of Azkaban_ ??!! I see a lot of people who really like _The Goblet of Fire_ and yes, the book is PHENOMENAL but the movie... meh. The absence of John Williams' score, the Dursley's, Serious Black, and Dobby were my biggest gripes with the film. Also, the fact that the other Tri-Wizard Champions didn't get enough screen time and the final maze trial was gutted for time.
InBedGamer it's so amazing that all these 8 films are so fucking amazing that one can choose anyone as their most fav or least fav! people's opinions even match and can be totally opposite on that! these are fucking great set of films and I'm glad they just stick with the progressively increasing dark tone as people grew up(I grew up along with these movies right from child to adult) rather than just pandering to kids for every movie!! and thank God WB made these! even LOTR!! Disney would never have made these as good as they are!! even Apes trilogy is made by WB!! ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥👌👌👍
For me, the part that always pulled me in the most was life at Hogwarts. Goblet - Half-Blood Prince are the movies that depict this the best and the most, so for me, these 3 are the best movies. As for Sirius' death, totally agree, the book gives them more time and opportunities to build up their relationship, whilst in the movie, what little there is of it doesn't quite make it have the same impact. If I had to rank them myself, I'd probably go, in descending order: -Half-Blood Prince -Order of the Phoenix -Goblet of Fire == Part 2 -Part1 -Prisoner of Azkaban -Chamber of Secrets -Philosopher's Stone
I'm gonna be honest, Jeremy, Harry Potter had me from the first Movie. Maybe it's because I'm younger than you and back then I was around Harry's age, so... RELATABILITY!! And reading the books and watching the films, I could tell the differences were there, but I loved the movies because I'm a visual person. Put something in a picture format and I can see what the 1000 words were trying to say. More to the point, I loved the fact that the Movie despite keeping close to the books diverged just enough to make this feel like it's own version of events, sort of an AU that's very close to the actual timeline of events. I loved this series. And thanks for sharing your love of these films as well.
The first time I read this book reminded me of reading about Frodo and Sam plodding through Mordor in Return of the King: depressing, discouraging. I just wanted Harry to come out on the other side. It was my least favorite. The second time I read through them I realized that I loved this part of the overall story arc. It was in my top 3. Dumbledore's Army was friggin awesome!!!
This is actually my favorite of the series. I agree that it is one of the slowest paced of the series, but that’s what I love about it. That makes me feel like I’m actually in the story. It has some of my favorite friendship sequences in any film and I love the relationship between dumbledore and harry in this one: Dumbledore thought that by being emotionally distant from Harry it would keep Voldemort from entering Harry’s mind, however this damaged harry bc he needed a parental figure to help him through all the trauma and confusion he was facing. (Which I wish you had brought up) I love that they actually have a scene where harry yells at dumbledore demanding that he look at him. That shit hits me hard every time, maybe bc I wish that I could stand up to my dad. And I also love how it kind of serves as a Christmas movie (all of them kind of do that, but I think this one is my favorite when it comes to that).
This is my favorite of the Harry Potter movies by far, the only one I can truly call a great film aside from my overwhelming nostalgia for them all. It's fast paced, emotionally gripping, and constantly surprises and excites. The themes of rebellion, isolation and oppression are beautifully drawn, as well as one of the most hateable villains in recent memory (and I'm not talking about Voldemort). Best climax of the series as well, with everything from Sirius' haunting demise to Voldy and Dumbledore's duel to the heart-wrenching psychological confrontation between the Dark Lord and his younger adversary. P.S: Nicholas Hooper's score is on par with John Williams' work on the saga. Just listen to 'The Ministry of Magic', 'Fireworks' and 'Dumbledore's Army'.
Zed Said i thought it had a pretty good balance of light comedic moments and heavier elements of story telling with slughorn. overall, pretty good darn time no alcohol required.
Cho Tube but as Jeremy said, they omitted too much to make for a satisfying set up to 7-8. I felt DH part 1 had a lot of deus ex machina in regards to what Harry was supposed to know. They didn't set that up properly.
Order of the phoenix is actually one of my favourites. I'd say this, prisoner of azkaban and deathly hallows part 2 are probably my favourite of the movies. It's been too long since I read the books to remember how I'd rank the books.
I actually do think its a quite harry potter centric time because the first book came out about 10 years ago from now. But your right I do genuinly enjoy hearing you talk about things you like :)
I actually kind of enjoyed this movie, but it was because I saw this during my teenage years when I was dealing with a lot of stuff in my life. I enjoyed how Harry was trying to juggle all of his duties as a student, the fact that Voldy was back, his relationships with his friends, his frustration at not being able to help or do anything, crappy teachers, crappy school, the lack of direction in his life, his mess-ups, etc. It felt so eerily relatable.
Really interested in what Jeremy has to say about HBP. It's definitely a divisive one but I think it's the most underrated and beautiful film in the series
it’s my least favorite as well. the book was so much more emotional and the film didn’t really capture harry’s internal struggle. it also didn’t explain the prophecy well. i’m rereading the book now because i can’t remember shit about voldemort and the prophecy and the movie just glossed over it after a big lead up.
Another great Harry Potter review. My ranking would be: 1. Prisoner of Azkaban 2. Goblet of Fire 3. Half-Blood Prince 4. Deathly Hallows Part 2 5. Deathly Hallows Part 1 6. Chamber of Secrets 7. Sorcerer's Stone 8. Order of the Phoenix Can you review Back to the Future Part 3 after you finish Harry Potter? Please!
i completely agree with you about the ending. this book was one of my favorites of the series. they screwed up the emotion of the following movie's ending as well, in my opinion.
OotP has always been my favourite book of the series. I didn't have as much attachment t the movie, however. Pretty much because of the lack of emotion in Sirius' death, as you've mentioned. But that wasn't the only thing in the movie that failed to grip me as much as it did in the book. That being said, still appreciate the movie.
I'm sorry professor. But I must not tell lies.
DelToroFlow Harry got some sass
DelToroFlow That scene tho.
I wish every student who suffers at the hands of teachers like her gets an opportunity like that. Repeatedly.
That scene though
DelToroFlow That burn was so sweet
"NIce one James!" chills every single time...
Granted James was a jerk
the sad thing is they both see each other as James, Sirius saw James in Harry, Harry saw James in Sirius... breaks my heart
I hated Umbridge in the book
I hated Umbridge in the film
Still do
So they did well on that!
dflowers30 haha true! In a micro sense anyway ;)
She's the sole purpose of why I hated this movie
*Dead* Hitori haha really? I kinda get that ;)
She's a great character that you just love to hate.
Alexander Trenfield wow...
Same
To everyone who hates the fact that Harry is angry all the time in the 5th book / movie, ask yourself the question: Can you really blame him?
Completely agree! I can't believe that people say he is whiny in this book, and are so judgmental. Like, put yourself in his position and be a bit empathetic, he has freakin' PTSD! There are literally only two scenes where Harry loses his temper, in an 870 page book, and people constantly whine about how whiny HARRY is being. It's ridiculous. Personally, I actually thought we get an extra helping of Harry's sass in this one.
Maclean Samis 💯💯
Yes, the little shithead
He’s going through A lot
exactly it is actually an achievement for Rowling as she managed to make her readers feel as frustrated as Harry was in the book.
It's actually my favorite HP film. It is finely directed, very intense and dramatic, has expanded the lore and history, new characters. And has the best magic scene in the series: DUMBLEDORE vs VODEMORT in the ministry of magic. I re-watch that one religiously.
That fight with Dumbledore and Voldemort was good.💯💯👏🏽👏🏽
You are tripping. You’ve clearly never read the books because they destroyed the content
@@zclan4130 i've read the books thrice(all of them) and order of phoenix is my fav too..and i think you don't understand the point of the book
@@thereader6527 it’s my favorite book, least favorite movie. The adaptation was horrible and ruined the “point” of the book
Actually the half blood prince is also amazing it might be my favorite
The progressively darker tone of the movies is also the way Harry is watching the world change and how he views the world in general. A child versus a traumatized teen has a different perspective and more so as realism becomes more prominent as we grow up. The color palette of the movies reflects this. When Harry gets into Hogwarts and sees magic for the first time everything is like a fairytale for him. He is a little boy and color explodes in his eyes and as he grows up darker colors and grey blends in and he starts viewing the world differently. His perspective shifts as he grows into a teen and an adult and with everything that keeps happening to him the world becomes a bleak place and the direction of the movies reflect that.
maevelin agreed 💯💯👏🏽👏🏽
Well said and the films don't merely progress once or twice, the tone and visual progrssion happens throughout all eight films, it's quite beautifully done
Cannot wait to watch this in 2007!
Ebaula Bola seriously underrated comment
The one movie when you wanted Doris to die more than Voldemort 😂
Joshua Boyd I love that you got her name wrong
Dolores
She got a fate worse than death. After Kingsley became Minister after Voldemort's death, he gave her a life sentence in Azkaban. Although the Dementors we're Disbanded for their affiliation with Voldemort.
Dolores
Dumbledore avoided Harry in this about as much as Valve avoids the number 3.
Marc O'Connor 😅😅😅 Good one
"we have three new hats for TF2"
But he eventually comes back. SO HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the floor is harry
I wish that every time a Harry Potter movie has its 10th or 20th etc anniversary, that all theatres around the world would play the movie again. That would be so nostalgic, make it happen.
Enya The Rainbow I like the way your mind thinks
I've always thought of this movie as one of my favorites in the series.
Jeremy as usual your impressions are on point.
SPOILER
I think Harry's muted scream is what made Sirius's death more impactful and made it more heartbreaking.
Ryan smith apparently, it made Helena Bonham Carter and Emma Watson cry.
Jeremy, you have been by far one of my favorite TH-cam or's for years now. I always stop what I'm doing when you upload and I love hearing a personal thank you like that to the viewers! Thanks for all that you do, also where do you live? I'm just curious…keep up the excellent work!
1. Goblet of Fire
2. Prisoner of Azkaban
3. Deathly Hallows Part 2
4. Philosopher's Stone
5. Order of the Pheonix
6. Chamber of Secrets
7. Half Blood Prince
8. Deathly Hallows Part 1
9. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Haven't seen 9 but of the 8 this is a very accurate assessment
You must be Canadian
I think Sirius' death in the movie was one of the most emotional scenes for me. Since I have read and reread the books countless times, it really was tragic. And the scene itself... how Dan Radcliffe screams and crumples in Lupin's arms as Lupin holds him back... all without any sound... gets me every time.
It is always a Harry Potter centric time.
Plus, July is Harry Potter's birth month!
More like "Harry Potter and the Order of the Bureaucracy"
This movie looks really good! When is it coming out? Can't wait to see it!
;)
BattleUp Saber No release date yet
BattleUp Saber I heard it's coming out in September. Jeremy just somehow got to see a super early screening for it.
BattleUp Saber in 14 years ago
+GamingSis 14 years? LOL Holy shit dude, don't make me feel even older than I already do.
It's 10th anniversary is actually coming up in a couple of days.
The One with the Teenage Hormones
MyName is Jeff Your Honest reference is much appreciated
chandan palle thank u sir
Man honestly your reviews are pretty much spot on.Having fun with the Potter reviews and rewatching.Keep up the great work.
Harry Potter Forever
It's my most favourite. I think it has one of the most effective arcs for Harry in all of the movies, and I love the way it culminates: When he's fighting Voldemort in his mind. Other series might have found a scene like that to be corny or overly sentimental, but Harry Potter commits to it and it makes it work. It also contains a lot of my favourite scenes in the series, and I do think Sirius's death in it works tremendously. For me, this is the prefect culmination of the two tones of the series, and it has some excellent dark and lighter moments. My second favourite is Deathly Hallows Part 1.
Jeremy, summer break in the UK is 6-7 weeks, so it's not even a few months since Cedric died.
That's almost 2 months so that is kinda a few months
mk6rfc1 1 month
+OhSnap321 6-7 weeks is nearly 2 months
personally this is my favourite film in the series, I felt the characters developed most in this film of all of them and I found myself enjoying the series as a whole a lot more as a result of this film, It definitely isn't the most exciting or action packed, but I enjoyed it more than any other
Personally Order of the Phoenix is my favorite whilst Half-blood Prince is the one I like the least.
Same!

KrólMaciuśPierwszy-KingoftheSlavs Same
Death Gate cycle live action. When.
I actually really enjoy The Order of the Phoenix as a movie, and the book is my second favorite in the series behind The Deathly Hallows.
Emile Vinesh 💯💯
They don’t tell you in the movie, but snape told the order right after leaving her office. Instead the movie just makes him seem like a villain
Just because it's a birthday month does not mean people are going to give a shit about Harry Potter lol.
Gdadder
I always give a shit about Harry Potter
In september it will be "19 years later"
Fantastic monsters and where to find them movie came out recently so he followed up that by doing harry potter reviews
ootp is the longest book yet its the shortest movie and that;s pissed me off so much for so long because theres so much they shouldve put in yet didnt really
Grahm Frank they really cut out a lot
Is it really significant? I’ve read books 4, 6, and 7 only btw.
OOTP, the film, felt a little bit like filler. Sure, it expanded on some key lore, but I don’t really feel it went anywhere.
@@milton5417 you have to read them all. You are missing out
I can't believe Snape killed Dumbledore!
Oh shit too early.
At least Dobby hasn't died yet
um...about that...
But he was a free elf😢😢😢😢😢
I don't care about them, I'm just happy that the Weasley twins exist in the Harry Potter universe. Both are so awesome, too awesome to die as wimps like Dobby & Dumbledore.
But Dobby does...
I remember this being my favourite Harry Potter film. Can't recall why; gonna have to rewatch them
The only reason I watch you is that I like how you talk about things. I'm not big into movie reviews but I like your approach. It's like listening to a friend.
"Nice one, James!"
Honestly bored me to death as a kid but is one of my favourites now (second to Deathly Hallows pt.2), great movie!
I cried like a bitch at Black's death and i didn't read the books.
saskue357 Why haven't you?????? They are fucking 50x better than the movies. sharringan!
saskue357 you cried? Hmm. I didn't seem to care when he died. I was wondering why Harry took his death so hard but then I had to read about their relationship in the books to understand
saskue357 oh it hurts in the books
Every time I start thinking, "Man it's been a while since his last Harry Potter review," he uploads another one.
The scene with Harry screaming when Sirius died with no sound (of the screaming) STILL gives me goosebumps. Such a well done scene.
review Watchmen 😘
Vishwas.S. P Yadav Yesss!!!
Says some guy
I think the ones who find it the worst are readers who actually read the book just like me.... I mean the movie stands apart but I am dissapointed to see they didn't include many factors in the movie:-
I am not at all satisfied with the movie.
every day is harry potter day. i would talk about this series even on my deathbed.
3:44-4:20 perfect logic...makes me sympathetic to ministry of magic...something that jk rowling failed to do with me and I love her

(e.g. maybe he could work through all of the Ghibli movies?... I dunno)
You liked The Half Blood Prince more than this?
Joseph Dutra i did
Its actually my second fav behind Azkaban. It goes for me
1: Prisoner of Azkaban
2: Order of the Phoenix
3: Chamber of Secrets
4: Deathly Hallows Pt. 2
5: Half-Blood Prince
6: Goblet of Fire
7: Sorcerers Stone
8: Deathly Hallows Pt. 1
Still love them all regardless of ranking and I would throw Fantastic Beasts somewhere in there but I have not seen it yet.
order of phoenix is actually one of my top 3 or top 4 fav HP movies i dont get why it was jeremy's least fav
sanket adke haven't read the books have you?
not talking about the books m talking about the movie
Bated _ I've read the books multiple times and Order of the Phoenix is my favorite book and movie in HP
sanket adke exactly if you had read the books your views would probably be far different
This movie has a special place in my heart. My parents gave me the movie On DVD for Christmas along with 1-4. This one has always been my favorite, I don't really care how different it is from the book.
its my second favorite Harry Potter movie, right below the 8th one.
Hum, what you said about Fudge's reaction, I actually never thought of it that way... Although, come on, he still sent Umbridge, that's unforgivable..!
i feel you with the haircut shit ahhaah
you are welcome, Jeremy. It's great to hear your thought on Harry Potter's saga and THANK YOU for being an awesome movie reviewer!
Can't wait when this film comes out
Lool
MarinZajmi Still not funny imo
Hey Jeremy, you should talk about the Doomfist trailer.
I do genuinely love to hear your opinion, you got us jahns
This has the scariest villain ever if you have seen the movie
Hermione isn't legal yet
She is
zBruda na she's 17
Nicholas Borg in the UK you're legal at 16
Nicholas Borg in Estonia legal age is 14.
Lord of mangoes true
Prisoner of Azkaban
Deathly Hallows pt. 2
Half Blood Prince
Order of the Phenix
Chamber of Secrets
Sorcerer's Stone
Goblet of Fire
Deathly Hallows pt 1
Not that DH pt. 1 is bad or anything it's just not the movie I jump to when I say I want to watch Harry Potter.
Be honest Umbridge was the most evil villain of this series
Tadicuslegion78 she certainly is the most hated
Didn't talk about Snapes lesson...um why
Sir Smiles probably because they were, at least imo, shoe horned in without really setting up why they were needed nor illustrating properly how big an ordeal they are for Harry.
Pott-head for life! I'm so happy you're reviewing this franchise and that they inspired you to read the books.
Book/Movie rank:
3, 1, 5, 6, 4 , 7 and 2.
Favorite to least favorite (movies not books):
1. The Prisoner of Azkaban
2. The Deathly Hollows: Part 2
3. The Order of the Phoenix
4. The Sorcerer's Stone
5. The Chamber of Secrets
6. The Deathly Hollows: Part 1
7. The Goblet of Fire
8. The Half-Blood Prince
Come at me haters 😝
InBedGamer
1.Half Blood Prince
2.Deathly Hollows part 2
3.Goblet of Fire
4.Deathly Hollows Part 1
5.Prisoner of Azkaban
6.Order of the Phoenix
7.Chamber of Secrets
8.Sorcerer's Stone
They're all great movies.
CME your favorite is _The Half Blood Prince_ 😶
1. Goblet Of Fire
2. Chamber Of Secrets
3. The Deathly Hallows Part 2
4. Sorcerer's Stone
5. Order Of The Phoenix
6. The Deathly Hallows Part 1
7. Half Blood Prince
If I had to rank them myself, I'd probably go, in descending order:
-Half-Blood Prince
-Order of the Phoenix
-Goblet of Fire == Part 2
-Part1
-Prisoner of Azkaban
-Chamber of Secrets
-Philosopher's Stone
Dude, you gotta review the HP novels.
Not gonna lie this is actually my favorite HP movie
The first time I read this book reminded me of reading about Frodo and Sam plodding through Mordor in Return of the King: depressing, discouraging. I just wanted Harry to come out on the other side. It was my least favorite. The second time I read through them I realized that I loved this part of the overall story arc. It was in my top 3. Dumbledore's Army was friggin awesome!!!
the minister's of magic unbelief in Lord Voldemort is an allegory for the cognitive dissonance of human made climate change deniaers
Dunn Cardona wow lol
Brah this series is about racism. Game of thrones is about climate change
Yes Jeremy! I love watching you talk about old movies! Do more
Wtf? Why is this not on our local cinemas? Fucking shit
Dolores Umbridge == Betsy DeVos
Count Chocula I agree with you!
Thank you very much!
Honestly, Half Blood Prince was a worse movie.
I want a montage of you doing your Minister of Magic impressions at 6:26. Glorious.
Huge fan of your videos. I've been watching them since transformers 2. You've been my favorite TH-camr ever since. Keep up the great work.
My ranking would be:
1. Prisoner of Azkaban
2. Goblet of Fire
3. Half-Blood Prince
4. Deathly Hallows Part 2
5. Deathly Hallows Part 1
6. Chamber of Secrets
7. Sorcerer's Stone
8. Order of the Phoenix
Can you review Back to the Future Part 3 after you finish Harry Potter? Please!
i completely agree with you about the ending. this book was one of my favorites of the series. they screwed up the emotion of the following movie's ending as well, in my opinion.
I do, Jeremy. I enjoy your reviews
It's true that's exactly why I watch these reviews I genuinely like listening to Jeremy's opinions
