Spinnerbaits have been around for a long, long time and for good reason. They do work. Plain and simple. I rarely throw a spinnerbait on anything faster than 6.5:1. I prefer to keep that retrieve down to almost a crawl in the early spring. Even though my area has mostly moved into the post spawn, a lot of those big bass are still a bit sluggish and reluctant to commit to something that's zooming by.
Yesterday, I found out what you are describing quite by "Accident"...! Lost my "Fav" spinnerbait, and tied on a 1/2 oz. one that had a small Colorado Orange blade with a #5 Brass Colored Willow blade. Started getting hits ("Short-Strikes", as I call'em), and put a little 3" soft paddle-tail grub on behind. WoW...! What a difference THAT made...! Water is stained pretty much year around, so spinners and chatters are usually the "Go-To" here. Thanks so much for contributing to the Bass Fishing Community, and taking the time to make these "How-To" Videos. (We learn a LOT from them!).
Sound advice, especially for my situation. I'm fishin a series of backwoods Appalachian ponds, very muddy and a totally different environment than what I'm used to
Great video. Caught my first spinner bait bass couple days ago. Fire craw red with two willow blades. Red does work. .... never thought of using the spinnerbait like a jig. I’ll have to start flipping it into cover
Great video and very much what I have discovered as well. Bonus points for knowing what "pitching" is vs "flipping". There are well know pros out there who don't know the difference or refuse to use the terms correctly.
Another great video Tyler! Your knowledge and explanations really helpful to me. Living in Michigan and ready to get out on the water your videos helps me out a lot.
Awesome video Tyler! Using a spinner bait in spring is my number one Lureto throw!!! Even my son and daughter come spring can’t wait to throw the old safekeeping.
Would like to see you go a little more in depth or as they say down the rabbit hole and go through a lot more tips and techniques for early spring. The longer the better that just makes us even more Efficient this time of year. Keep the great stuff coming
Excellent easy to understand and implement content Spring time when water temps are still below 50* I constantly vary the retrieves of both my SP and chatterbaits and fish both as slow as I can and still get a feeling of vibration but will speed it up then slow it down 2-3x every cast as well as pop up my rod tip about 1' 6-8× during my retrieves My son using a war eagle wake bait double Colorado spinner bait 10 days ago caught back to back in five casts two bass that tied for his personal best large mouth using the above retrieve methods I use and taught him that I learned from Matt Stefan Unfortunately he lost that spinnerbait and War Eagle no longer makes it. My son also neglected to tell me while he and his friends went fishing with my gear they lost my other two War Eagle wake bsit spinnerbaits.I had also caught in three previous trips this spring over a dozen bass on that same War Eagle spinnerbait all over 3lbs largest was 5.6lbs was my best performing spinner bait but what made this War Eagle spinnerbait so effective IMO was also what attracted it to me to begin with as it had the two largest Colorado blades (talking HUGE with one #7 and one #5 Colorado blade) I've ever seen on a spinnerbait and Colorado bladed SP's have always for what ever reason I do not know worked best in my local lakes for bass and have done so for over 30 years now Colorado bladed SP's always have out caught both Indiana and willow leaf bladed SP's in my local lakes and I have over 40 spinnerbaits with all kinds of differently configured willow leaf and Indiana blade spinnerbaits that sit unused on my basement fishing tackle bench because I tried tride my best to find one type that worked but none ever came close to catching bass like my Colorado spinnerbaits do And I have absolutely no idea whatsoever why this is I can not express more forcefully how absolutely PO'd I am that War Eagle stopped making thier Wake Bait series of double Colorado bladed spinnerbaits. Seriously thinking of making my own tha ones we lost worked so darn good
A spinnerbait has been a confidence bait for me for years. For spring fishing my Dad taught me back in the late 70's to keep my rod tip up (at about 45 degrees) and reel just fast enough to feel the thumping of the spinnerbait in the tip of the rod. I usually throw a 3/8 ounce bait with a single colorado blade on it. My color of choice is almost always white. I kill it in the spring with that setup. I used to never use a trailer but I'll add a paddletail swimbait and use one of those dye pens to add some red to it.
Great video as usual. I got a lot spinner baits ( and pretty much everything). Just had first day in Michigan. Only had a little time. They got my home lake really low for a while. Only pike found so far. Been faithful with my stuff and the ones you told me about. I will find them and let you know.
I’m fishing a bass tournament on lake Santee next Saturday. And just made my first Purchase from Sportsmans outfitters purchase all the gear I think I’m gonna need thanks for all your help
Spinner baits for me in here in SoCal is probably in my top 3 baits for years. Definitely speed is the main thing. 3/8 oz is the go to. War eagle is the only brand I use as well. One willow one Colorado blade is solid, thump and flash. I like the bottom blade painted for muddy windy days red or chartreuse. Great video brew.
Another great video 📹 👏 Really like the way you explain everything. Spinnerbait & Chatterbaits are my favorite baits. I probably use to big blades sometimes. Thanks.
Actually watch a video where Jimmy Houston recommended the covert series. Happened to see one at my local Dunn's Sporting Goods the next time I was in there. Picked one up and caught my PB on it my next trip out. Absolutely love that spinner bait.
Sup Tyler. Great points. Have perfect spot for Saturday 9th,, when fishing season opens in RI. It's sportsmans club pond so fish from bank. Will apply to spinnerbait and chatterbait I planned on using. It's going to be heavily pressured because we stock trout, will these baits still work under those conditions? Or should I fish a different lure? Tyvm
That war eagle is money for sure. If you reel over a log close to 90 degrees you can slow down and bump the log and fish will swim 15 ft along that cover to the spinnerbait even in tight lipped conditions. I would add a 6th mistake of not finishing a cast to the boat. A spinnerbait is the most followed lure I've seen besides a swimbait or topwater and I've caught close to a third of my spinnerbait fish within a rod from the boat or bank
Spinnerbaits are great for slow rolling our natives in Australia. You just about need to be bouncing them off timber to be getting the fish. I like watching your videos there are many similarities and differences between our fisheries. I just watched your video on fishing red too. I like to think of the color spectrum underwater with Red being the first color lost at around 15 feet. Sometimes what looks very strange to our eyes is the first thing to go missing underwater. What looks like a vibrant red blade could be quite subtle at 10-15 feet, where a dark green or blue is probably the most visible color at that depth.
when I look at the spinnerbait section at Cabellas or wherever, I don't like most of them. Too many of them have the same colored, smooth willow blades. i like big, single hammered blades and even hammered willows. They give much more vibration. I am a fan of war eagles, I like eyes on my spinnerbaits bit those heads are almost too pretty to put eyes on lol.
People don't like to be told they're making mistakes. They have been fishing for many years the same way and catching fish. Perhaps you can call it five suggestions instead of five mistakes
A good learner or fisherman is always attempting to be aware of shortcomings. Reason I video myself is to catch mistakes that could bring myself more enjoyment of catching bass
During summer months with all the weeds all I throw is soft plastics, top water frogs. Before heavy weeds in spring or during fall is when I throw spinnerbaits, floating rapala. Going to try the good old fashioned Rat-L- Trap too. Fishing from the bank is a challenge for sure especially pressured waters. Tight lines my friend.
Not all of us have a boat. Not all of us have thousands of dollars to spend on the "right" gear for every lure. Some of us just want to know if it's possible to catch one or two fish a year without spending our life savings. Unsubscribed.

So glad to see the spinner bait coming back it definitely catches fish

My favorite bass lure always been a spinnerbait! Good video, and solid advice!
Once again, you are pitching the good and sensible info out to us …. And I for one appreciate it greatly!!!
I'm a big spinnerbait user. Slow rolling a spinnerbait works any time of year. They are my go to for Largemouth bass and Pike.
I would like to say thanks for the informative videos. You helping a lot of people become better fisherman.
Thanks Kenneth, I appreciate the kind words
Awesome video Keep up the good work !!!!
Awesome Tyler the info is always great Sir! Love the channel man thank you for all the help you give!
I love War Eagle spinnerbaits!
All year long during the spring? :) Nice video

Great video and thanks for the tips!
Great vids dude. Useful

Awesome and informative video as always bro!!
Hey thanks for this, threw a trailer on a red painted Booyah Pond Magic Spinnerbait and got my first spring bass today 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for another great video
Very Informative! Thanks for another great content! 👌😎
April/May are the best months for spinnerbaits!
Caught a 6.10 on the booyah first thing this morning, same blade pattern and swimbait. Of all my spinners the only one i use
Try out the pleasant hill dam in Ohio if you haven’t tried it before. Try the spill way there too.

Excellent video really enjoyed it thanks , what brand is the spinnerbait with the orange blade you held in your hand ?
That was homemade ;)
I thought so 😊

What’s the Arcs Rod warranty like?

Are the bass moving up or spawning in your area Tyler? I live in Southeastern Ohio

All year long….during the spring. Lol
Anyone ever caught a bass in the middle of the pond

Well I would suggest you put those feelings back in a box and stow them away if the words hurt you! 🙄😳😉😎
You actually catch bass on a spinnerbait in Ohio?? 🤔
Absolutely my man!!
I'm in Northest Ohio yes you can
@@Cornelius798 I'm in SE Ohio, its hard to get bites on anything other than a squarebill, ned rig, shaky head, senko, or Texas rig.
