  • This DIY 270 degree awning is a no holes, no poles awning that sets up in ONE minute and withstands 25 mph wind gusts. It attaches to the camper jack flanges so it is really suitable for any slide-in truck camper with standard jack flanges. Common power tools only -- no welding.
Areas of improvement are discussed and we hope viewers have suggestions. If we build a 2nd generation awning we will share the construction in a later video.

I am inspired - love the idea of making it "Your Own" and it fits what you want and need for your situation. The only alternative is to buy an overpriced fabricated batwing awning that isn't really what you wanted in the first place. The idea of not welds is a HUGE perk for me as well. Thanks !!

Thanks @arcola107! Yes, without welding this is really doable for most. A rivet tool is cheap and if you have a drill, saw and sewing machine you are just about set.

I'm willing to bet your parents bought you an erector set as a child, and probably subscribed to Popular Mechanics. 😊

No. Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys but no Erector Set ;-( But I always wished I had one. And I loved Popular Mechanics, when old enough to pick one up here and there. Thanks so much for appreciating my tinkerings.
