I did a similar setup with the JBL 306 MKII ... Speakers were 129 each and jbl subwoofer was 239 ... on ebay. Haven't hooked up the subwoofer yet, but the speakers are amazing. I'm hearing instruments in songs I never heard before. I have them hooked up to a KLARK TeChnik Bluetooth unit so that I can switch instantly between my TV, Imac, Sony MP3 players, phone or internet radio .... They're amazing. I'm listening to stuff I heard and loved as a kid like they're new versions. Thanks for your video.
Great job on the video man. You've bought some of the best speakers you can buy for this price range and what you're using them for. The people that know something about audio can clearly see that you're new to audio don't mind what the others say! You'll learn more about audio in time once you study
Thank you so much for this! I've been using headphones for years & finally got these JBLs as my first real monitors/sub. Your video and links to the cables needed really helped me out! Much appreciated!

Yep, full volume will not work. Flip side i no wondered how loud this thing hits the decibels read "" Oh Hell NO"! So I am no audiophile yet but let me explain, My teens my friends ford bronco had 4 kicker competitions with 1500 watts a piece from the 4 amplifiers. This Bronco's bass hit so hard it caused the bolts holding the topper down to rattle loose and like a scene from Fast and Furious the eject occurred and down the road the topper flew. So yeah when one single 10 inch woofer hits and brought this moment immediately to mind. . So............... I would suggest if your into music production to use the daw to set your sound levels. Outside that this video was the draw point for me buying this magnificent decibel destroying cave mongrel from a wet dream. Cheers and best of luck.
Thanks for the review. My 20+ year old ProMedia subwoofer finally blew out the other day and I’ve been looking for a replacement. I was so disappointed to learn the new version is neutered. Found a great deal on some used 305P MKII speakers and plan to add the sub when I find a deal on it.
So, I think it's pretty obvious you don't have a history in audio, and you're just giving your personal review of your new speaker setup in the only way that you can, with the frames of reference that make sense to you. In which case I can take this and applaud you for giving it a go. For the rest of us who may understand a little more about the intended use of these speakers and the environment they'd be used in, I too was expecting a little more clarity (pun intended) but give the guy a break, he obviously hasn't learned about acoustics and perhaps never been shown. hi, i agree, these speakers are the best thing ive purchased in the past couple years. its like going from a 40 yr old black and white tv to a 4k HDR OLED.
AnimationBubble Haha, right? It's funny cause i still have an old tube tv for my gamecube and my brother just bought a 4k oled hdr tv. So I've seen the comparison.

Hey FunBubble, you can eliminate this hiss by using balanced inputs. I have an audio interface and use balanced inputs and get no hiss even at max volume. I use the Focusrite Scarlet Solo personally
Thank you for your review! In your opinion, do you think that only the two speakers (without the subwoofer) are give enough bass for movies and general music? (Obviously, the bass will not be the same without the subwoofer, but is it acceptable)
hey good video! clean setup. Is your stereo effectively added by outputs L and R on subwoofer to the satellites then, since its only 1 3.5 out on laptop? maybe it kinda looks like 3.5 to 2-1/4 splitter cable?
Hi! How are you? I just bought the same ones. They sound great, but have a lot of hiss noise, without even plugging in anything. Simply by plugging it into the power. Do you have a similar problem? can you do something? greetings and thanks! .
You need a balanced cable connection. I use XLR cables, which are best all round for use when DJing, IMO. If you are using your laptop, there are different ways for your cable connections. If you look online for balanced cables, it should help you.
Bet your neighbors love the live battle war sound coming from the vibrations wall. All you need are head phones or poke centerline audio speaker in front and a 20 buck 15” sub used.
Hello. Thank you very much for the video. What is the input sensitivity option in the back of the speakers for? I have the Scarlett 18i8. How should I set this feature? Thank you.
Thanks for this video. I love how you compare the actual size of the JBLs to the Klipsch PM 2.1. I've had two PM 5.1, and both amps lost the center channel, and one having annoying buzzing noise that gets louder as you turn up the volume. Installing a cooling mod didn't help either. I'm thinking about going with the JBL MK308s but I'm still undecided. I love the sound of the Klipsch PMs but the build quality/reliability is very poor.
I don’t know if you still have the PM speakers, but you can repair the problem with the volume knob. Just need to disassemble the controller and spray some deoxit on the volume knob contacts. Fixed mine right up. Too bad the subwoofer blew out!
? Do they sound good for listening to music becouse people are saying they have a flat tone response I have the klipch 2.1 pros and on my 3rd set and you are right about the earlier models being better with more power and punch. But I am looking for something with more power plus quality stereo sound for listening to music on my computer. And with a flat tone im shure I could use a EQ on my onboard sound card which has been upgraded are do you recommend a DAC.
I don’t think I would buy this setup just for gaming. I have a pair of JBL 305p and they are amazing quality for their price. They are not meant to be used for gaming but for producing music and mixing.

Made me laugh, but thanks for giving it a go I cant even start saying you're doing that wrong, it would sound better if you did this, Keep up the good work. 😉
I used an NHT PVC Mini passive preamp in my initial setup. Computer to Preamp to Speakers and Sub. I'm assuming JBL suggested to come out of the sub to the 305's. On a side note the 305's are sooo good that I pulled out my old Lexicon DC-1 Pre Processor. As of this writing my Lenovo Computer, Sony CD/DVD, and Sangean digital FM into Lexicon DC1 out to the JBL's. Wowee.
Consider building your own PC for gaming. It's easier than one may think & the benefits far exceed mere gaming - there are many sites/channels to aid one's build but I too would be happy to assist in any area if required. I'm sidetracking myself; I too have JBL305s (great little speakers) & I was plagued by EMI/RMI for some time. I spent quite a few quid on cables, unnecessarily expensive MOBO (Japanese capacitors/shielding) Etc. but ultimately, least for me, the problem was solved by upgrading my DAC (SMSL M300 MKII) - Night & Day. I wish someone had pointed this out to me or that'd gleamed this information myself but after purchasing a DAC initially, I wrongly presumed my problems lay elsewhere & there are many audio rabbit holes for those of us who aren't familiar with the world of Audio. So, in conclusion, I recommend you try out a few DACs from Amazon & you can easily return ones that don't eliminate the EMI but you'll also appreciate what they'll do to your system overall.
hi, im not sure if theyre sheilded. But ive got them right next to a 34" curved alienware IPS LCD and everything works fine. I think the magnets only effect old style CRT monitors.
I was thinking about the Yamaha or a Sceptre monitors but JBL is also a good monitors but I like it facing upside down so that my tweeter aims to my ears and not the woofer. According to cinema sound.
I bought a pair of JBL 306 MKII studio monitor 3 days ago, i find speakers volume is too low even after keeping 100% volume in my computer and sound card. To be exact, i got 0 to 10 gain level in each speaker . So in my speakers volume is starting only after 2 gain level in each speaker below that its mute and good volume is coming only after 6+ gain level. So is that a manufacturing defect ? Do i need to replace it from the seller ?
i keep the 305pmkii volume set at 8 on each speakers back panel. then i adjust volume thru computer. I have laptop audio jack set as 'line out' and keep pc volume around 22%. Experiment some more, mess around with your pc audio settings, maybe cables arent setup right, try a different computer. There probably isnt a good chance 2 studio monitors are defective. let us know if you sort it out, it could help someone else that runs into the same prob. thanks.
hello, a question, I'm interested in jbl lsr 305, the previous model to yours, and I would like to know if you can connect directly to the pc, or if you have to connect some audio dac or some external device is that I do not know if connecting them directly to the pc, there are some problems of metallic noise or some kind of problem, I do not understand a lot of audio .... do you recommend them? Greetings
yes u can connect them directly to the pc audio jack. that is how im currently doing it. it sounds great and i dont hear any noise problems. im using a UGREEN 3.5mm 1/8" TRS to dual 6.35mm 1/4" TS cable to connect speakers to the laptop. eventually i'll get an external usb dac, supposedly the audio quality should improve about 10% compared to the computers internal dac. thanks, i'll make a video review when i get the new usb dac, im still deciding between a few models.
@@AlbiWiedersberg bought same steingberg dac and same batch of lsr305 speaker as my friend. His went from slight hiss to zero hiss, mine went from medium hiss to slight hiss with use of the us of the dac.
hiss is from the internal electronics. ive seen a video from electrical engineer do tear downs of powered monitors and explain why they all hiss. some monitors (not JVC) have added circuit that eliminates hiss but it can also create side effects like a slight mute fade in and out if watching a movie and the audio goes silent for a bit. The hiss from my jvcs isnt a problem for me, its undetectable sitting 3 feet away.
@@FunBubble after this video I saw a video of someone suggesting that removing the 3rd prong of the plug(the ground) would remove the hiss of similar looking speakers. No idea if it works or if you're at risk of getting shocked, but worth looking into if anyone really cares.
yes, i have been perfectly satisfied with plugging the speakers into the headphone jack on my laptop. i was going to buy a usb external DAC but right now i dont see the need. the computer audio out sounds great. some people talk like a phone or laptop audio out sounds like a 40 year old AM radio but thats truly not the case.
The sound is excellent from the laptops audio jack. General users like myself probably wouldnt need an external audio interface. Im comparing this from the klipsch promedia speakers i was using. I'd say the sound now is 10x better. A few things i should add... my laptop lets u choose what the audio jack outputs. i set it for Line Out but i cant really tell a difference if i set it as Headphones. I adjust the volume in Windows, it generally stays between 15 and 40% depending on the content. Ive heard an external usb dac will improve the sound quality about 10% because they use a better sound processor. A 10% increase is pretty substantial and i might as well get the best audio the speakers can output so i'll buy one eventually. thanks
How did I end up here?? I was looking for studio reviews on powered monitor systems, not gaming LOL. BTW.. there's much better speakers for gaming out there.
again another person that is wrong you can use studio monitors for gaming and listening to music infact you should because then you will be hearing what is intended as they are for the most part flat.
StarSn1per it’s really not, and it’s really not that amazing for the price either. These things could easily be paired up to an svs or hsu sub and sound amazing
You're getting the hiss because you have all 3 speakers are all plugged into the same power circuit. I eliminated mine by buying those 3 prong to 2 prong power adaptors which eliminates the ground prong, or a ghetto move would be to yank out the ground prong all together. Try that.
thats ground loop. not the small hiss he is hearing ive done that to remove ground loop and now i can only hear the hiss if im 5inches away from the spekaer
He's getting the hiss because he has unbalanced ts cable instead of balanced trs. I see trs to ts in to the speaker. I have mine connected to the scarlett.......and I use balanced cable. Absolute zero noise. However you must tweak your levels. Cheers
mate, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favour and get yourself a Yamaha AG03 Mixer w/ USB Audio Interface. Speakers plug into the mixer through XLR cables, then subwoofer plugs into mixer/USB Audio Interface with TRS cables, and then mixer/USB Audio Interface plugs into your PC/laptop via USB. The soundcard on your laptop is sooo very subpar to be driving that setup!!
Bacevs, thanks for the info bro, by the way, is there a mixer similar you mention with Bluetooth or wifi interface so that I can directly using Spotify???
i could hear rain drops with the klipsch 2.1 but these JBL speakers are on a whole different level. the JBL's are the perfect PC speaker setup, u get what u pay for.

hello, a question, I'm interested in jbl lsr 305, the previous model to yours, and I would like to know if you can connect directly to the pc, or if you have to connect some audio dac or some external device
is that I do not know if connecting them directly to the pc, there are some problems of metallic noise or some kind of problem, I do not understand a lot of audio .... do you recommend them?
Greetings
yes u can connect them directly to the pc audio jack. that is how im currently doing it. it sounds great and i dont hear any noise problems. im using a UGREEN 3.5mm 1/8" TRS to dual 6.35mm 1/4" TS cable to connect speakers to the laptop. eventually i'll get an external usb dac, supposedly the audio quality should improve about 10% compared to the computers internal dac. thanks, i'll make a video review when i get the new usb dac, im still deciding between a few models.
Will be good the Jbl 305 mark II (without woofer) to listen tidal master from my pc with my dac ifi black label (external) in my bedroom?
Excellent
that classic mouse! logitech mx518
Thankssss so much!!!😁😁😁😊
Thank you
You should never daisy-chain surge protectors.
My f****** apartment burned down because my roommate did the daisy chain thang! Dumbass!!
Double the surge protection!
I heard you can't mix with Klipsch (Spelled right ion)
Nice job.. thank you
Use a DAC to remove or significantly reduce the 'Hiss'
I'm doing that but it doesn't help much. Hiss comes from speaker internal wiring, put it in Google and you'll see ..
@@AlbiWiedersberg bought same steingberg dac and same batch of lsr305 speaker as my friend. His went from slight hiss to zero hiss, mine went from medium hiss to slight hiss with use of the us of the dac.
Thanks for this.
if i buy the jbl speakers do i need to buy any cable to connect them to pc?
Yes you will need the stereo 3.5mm to XLR left and right to go from your computer to each speaker.
Is this Woody Harrelson? ;-)
Is the hiss unrelated to the cable? that would drive me crazy
hiss is from the internal electronics. ive seen a video from electrical engineer do tear downs of powered monitors and explain why they all hiss. some monitors (not JVC) have added circuit that eliminates hiss but it can also create side effects like a slight mute fade in and out if watching a movie and the audio goes silent for a bit.
You can afford a whole jbl setup but not a pc
Get yourself a UPS battery backup to protect your investment...
balanced 1/4".
Could I plug my phone into these speakers or do I need professional equipment?
yes, i have been perfectly satisfied with plugging the speakers into the headphone jack on my laptop. i was going to buy a usb external DAC but right now i dont see the need. the computer audio out sounds great. some people talk like a phone or laptop audio out sounds like a 40 year old AM radio but thats truly not the case.
Just buy a 3.5 to 1/4 in cable
only onoe speajer works when i set it up this way
You have the same speakers as me both the klipsh and jbls lol
If you wanna elimenate hiss, get some balanced trs cables with a proper balanced dac. No hiss lol
Hii!! I have a question. The subw makes noise when it is on, ins’t it? Thanks
You have a same comment on a different channel inst it?
@@dr.python It's posible
anyway, finally I bought krk subw and it doesn't do any noise
Arrrggghhh, that setup only to demo games ? These gears are meant for pro or at least enthusiast use.
Lmao the hiss part
if the sound is so good via the laptop headphone jack, you wouldn't really need an audio interface right ?
The sound is excellent from the laptops audio jack. General users like myself probably wouldnt need an external audio interface. Im comparing this from the klipsch promedia speakers i was using. I'd say the sound now is 10x better. A few things i should add... my laptop lets u choose what the audio jack outputs. i set it for Line Out but i cant really tell a difference if i set it as Headphones. I adjust the volume in Windows, it generally stays between 15 and 40% depending on the content. Ive heard an external usb dac will improve the sound quality about 10% because they use a better sound processor. A 10% increase is pretty substantial and i might as well get the best audio the speakers can output so i'll buy one eventually. thanks
Actually, you do not need any interface or monitors. All you need is baseball bat connected via usb to bang your dumb head :))
you dont need a audio interface for studio monitors but you should get one the +4dbu setting is for pro audio gear aka audio interfaces.
This video is halarious.
It's spelled hilarious. I'm happy you found the video entertaining.
Bro you should get an external monitor
How did I end up here?? I was looking for studio reviews on powered monitor systems, not gaming LOL. BTW.. there's much better speakers for gaming out there.
again another person that is wrong you can use studio monitors for gaming and listening to music infact you should because then you will be hearing what is intended as they are for the most part flat.
What are those exactly? JBL 305s are about the best gaming/cpu speakers you can get under a grand without amps etc. S
The 310s sub is just too damm expensive for these monitors.. I got a 220$ monoprice 10" sub to pair up with the 305's and it sounds great!!
StarSn1per it’s really not, and it’s really not that amazing for the price either. These things could easily be paired up to an svs or hsu sub and sound amazing
Are you saying the monoprice doesn't sound good? For 220$ its very good.
Even BIC and Dayton sound good with these.
That shit bump or what I’m trying to make some cuts cuz
How do you have everything plugged in?
Bacevs, thanks for the info bro, by the way, is there a mixer similar you mention with Bluetooth or wifi interface so that I can directly using Spotify???
mine dont have the hiss at all
you're using the laptops in built sound card? damn what a joke
You're more of an asshole than that is a joke.
sound cards in computers are pretty good nowadays. your knowledge on audio equipment is a joke.
Don't. Hate at the end of the day you can make.good music how ever
he said he would get an audio interface at some point...
Raj Ghosh
You’ve tested all laptop’s dac/amps? I thought so.
Most internal audio is fine and the uploader even said he’ll get an external one.
Get yourself a power conditioner it takes the ground loop away
Love from INDIA
Youve never heard raindrops?
i could hear rain drops with the klipsch 2.1 but these JBL speakers are on a whole different level. the JBL's are the perfect PC speaker setup, u get what u pay for.
@@FunBubble i was just messing with you g. Set up look awesome man!
Sounds like trump sometimes lol
not the tbag!!!
LoL using it for gaming.
really ????
jesus
Congratulations everything you did was wrong for making music 😂
