- The biggest storm in memory slams into the Maltese Islands just south of Sicily in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. Hurricane force winds carried sand in the rain all the way from the Sahara as the tiny islands were besieged by 15-30 ft waves.
One of the most perfect storms I've ever seen - on this side of the island. Cirkewwa gets some good waves too.
Luckily, everytime i was on that ferry, it was always calm for me. Malta's shores can be badassed
I was in Gozo, October 2006. At the Inland Sea. All of a sudden, from Tunisia, came this amazing rain storm. When i got to the car i saw i had somehow been splashed by bright golden sandy mud. I'm wondering if it was from the earth or if it came from Africa.

What a natural show but at the same time impressive and scary. I've never saw such a turbulent sea before in my entire life!

You aint seen nothin yet, between february and march can be miserable here in malta, this year we had a wave that ate up an entire bus stop, destroyed 14 fishing boats, and even killed 34 tunas...VIVA MALTA 😅
This was a solid ass kicking. Never forget it.
