These guys are just fucking unbelievable. I hope we hear a lot more from them - And anyone in NY can still get tickets to see them July 15th at the bowery...
How does that voice possibly come from that frame???!!! I just saw him at Rothbury w/his band and it was quite possibly my favorite set I saw. Dude's setlist was basically him standing up there and saying: "You liked that one? Lemme show you what I can do to THIS song or THAT genre," with a big ol' Cheshire cat grin on him the entire time. Dude is one of the best performers of this generation.
Had the pleasure of being front row when BDS opened for Gov't Mule in Cincinnati. Short set, wish they could have gone longer. Just got the Bonnaroo CD to hold me over until the new CD this summer. Best music to come out in a long time.
I met this kid in March 2007 at the SxSW festival in Austin. just an honest humble kid, then he picked up the guitar and blew us all away. BDS are very good.
He's had a childhood worthy of the blues more than most people ever experience in their life. His father abandoned him as a child, and he grew up thinking his grandparents were his parents and his mother was his sister.
An incredible amount of old soul in that voice. Wonderful. Please keep him away from helicopters and motorcycles. And get him a manager who can get him noticed in the US. He should be giving Lang and Mayer a run for their money.
To clear up any confusion, this is not the end of the road for any of us... and whilst Adam and Ross are pursuing their own music careers outside this band, I can confirm I will be continuing as Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam. I am currently writing and preparing songs for the follow up to Roll Away, and I will be touring later in the year to support its release. Can't wait for that, and I really look forward to seeing you out there on the road ! More news very soon, Cheers, Davy :) "
Yo he def is the best to come out in awhile i saw him at bonnaroo last year and he was fuckin amazing i fell in love instantly such a good show man one of the great memories
I saw them on Tuesday. This kid plays so comfortably and is a nice guy (based on the 20 second interaction I had with him haha). He's definitely very talented and I hope the best for them.
Comin' Up for Air is finally goin on Davy's new album! Coming out in June, I'm sayin the best album release this year along with their Live at Bonaroo comin out.
Just saw them do Come Home on Jimmy Kimmel Wed Apr 2-08 episode. One of the hottest live performances I've seen. This guy is a killer Strat player. I predict a very bright future.
thats exactly what i was thinking! the album is pretty incredible, and davy is ridiculously amazing, but i think comin' up for air would have been a great addition
this is from their site "Thanks to everyone who has sent messages since we announced earlier this week that myself Adam, and Ross would not be continuing together as a trio. The response we've received has been incredible and very supportive for us all. Thanks again !
WAKARUSA...JUNE 5th 6th 7th 8th ? 2008. They'll be there. I saw them in KC at the Grand Emporium, and it was the best show I'd seen in a very long time..but sadly only about 20 of us (in all KC aera) were smart eneough to know to go??? What a shame...but I enjoyed the room in the bar :)
I don't speak french, but you, Sir, have a fine taste for music. Ich spreche kein Französisch, aber Du hast einen feinen Musikgeschmack. Mule, Skynyrd, Gallagher, Bonamassa.. Try these, too: Hör' mal rein: The Answer, Free, Robin Trower
Peter Frampton produced the new Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam CD "Coming Up For Air". Knowles, from Isle of Man is now touring the US promoting the new CD. "There is enough swagger, anguish and fiery chops in this Peter Frampton-produced set to qualify 22-year-old British guitarist Knowles for mainstream blues-rock cred." (USA Today review of 'Coming Up For Air') For more information see: davyknowlesdotcom
Hell yeah he needs a better manager! Something I like 'bout him is his look. I mean he got no care for how he looks, he could be a simple nerdy guy from any school and when he plays, he became one a hell of a bluesman!
OMG is he talented, I don’t think he sounds like Clapton, but someday I believe that he’ll be mentioned in the same breath as Clapton, Buddy Guy, and Hendrix.
His electric tone is all distortion, no natural tube gain. It's sounds like metal tone for gods sake. That's just my opinion. I think every other aspect of his playing is amazing, I'm just a stickler for tone, what can I say. But shitty tone really can ruin a great player for me. I just stick the acoustic vids and I'm happy :)
first of all, just because I think he has shitty guitar tone, doesn't mean I don't like his band and his playing. He's a great player. everyone needs to fucking calm down and accept that not everyone who has some impressive videos on youtube is the next clapton, srv, hendrix, or whatever. fuck
I have just been blown against the wall by this man.
These guys are just fucking unbelievable. I hope we hear a lot more from them - And anyone in NY can still get tickets to see them July 15th at the bowery...
i saw him at stubbs last night best show ive ever seen in my life
god damn what i would give for a voice like that!

That would indeed be SICK. Can you imagine those two on stage together?

He's alright...I guess.
Kidding.
He's brilliant. I'm pretty excited to see these guys again tonight.
his voice is sick, add the fact hes the best guitarist of the next generation and thats a great sound.
i definitely tried adding this to my favorites only to remember that i had just picked it from my favorites to watch
an all time great in the making to be sure...
Keep an eye on this one...throaty, mature voice, and the boy can PLAY. Saw him at the Sweetwater last week, he blew all of us away.
What a SICK voice. Amazing talent.

Holy crap! Five stars.
well Davy himself will still be maintaining Back Door Slam. And with his talent it'll be no time till he can get a great drummer and bass player.
Yo he def is the best to come out in awhile i saw him at bonnaroo last year and he was fuckin amazing i fell in love instantly such a good show man one of the great memories
I didn't expect this....

Davy Knowles is an outstanding musician. I wish he can give me acoustic guitar lessons, cuz that would be so awesome :)
Glasses are sexy. And he had me at the opening note.
they are playing in Houston March 10th........
I met him! :3

You got a great blues voice bud.
Damn stright!
Love his style and sound...reminds me alot of the acoustic Zakk Wylde from early in his career...
mmmmhhhh.....This Blues.....this is Blues Folks....
Dude's great, him playin unplugged reminds me of clapton
this guy is good.
Oh shit how old is this guy?????
Great!!!!
I don't speak french, but you, Sir, have a fine taste for music.

Their first album is out- i have a copy
thats what I'm talking about!
Hell yeah he needs a better manager! Something I like 'bout him is his look. I mean he got no care for how he looks, he could be a simple nerdy guy from any school and when he plays, he became one a hell of a bluesman!
круто 😀!!!!! КЛЁВО!!!
every chord he plays has its own purpouse
@RedsoxFan20042007 for sure. youtube is great for small-time musicians getting their due. he's really really young here...
OMG is he talented, I don’t think he sounds like Clapton, but someday I believe that he’ll be mentioned in the same breath as Clapton, Buddy Guy, and Hendrix.
i would like to see davy and joe bonamassa collaborate..... ohhhhhhhhh.
You're right, AC/DC doesn't deserve to be on the same venue as someone as great as Nugent.
What kind of microphone is being used here?
@rundovercat except actually it does sound a lot like Clapton. Musicians will always be compared it's okay, he has his own style too.
Waldomike is right this guy is better than awesome and reminds me a bit of Rory Gallagher 5* ;)
Its strange how he is playing in an office enviroment - an ironic setting for blues!
Wow - Move over Eric Clapton - joke. It's cool to know that we have some-more blues rock to hear.
Go get em boy!
and, you can tell this...how?
@gpmf08 Ted is the reason AC/DC is popular
I'd have to say go to there myspace and maybe send them a msg. Have you tried to google it?
kilt it!
Dave should not be opening for anyone anymore.....can give er on his own!
I disagree pen1232. The more responses we get - the better picture we have of peoples opinions. It's not like the same person posting 100 times...
um...you've obviously never seen him live...
so why don't you?
His electric tone is all distortion, no natural tube gain. It's sounds like metal tone for gods sake.
That's just my opinion. I think every other aspect of his playing is amazing, I'm just a stickler for tone, what can I say. But shitty tone really can ruin a great player for me. I just stick the acoustic vids and I'm happy :)
He's bad to the bone!
He looks like a geek but he is a hell of a musician
Reincarnation..thats all I can say
Sorry, replying to aschlemans comment.
first of all, just because I think he has shitty guitar tone, doesn't mean I don't like his band and his playing. He's a great player. everyone needs to fucking calm down and accept that not everyone who has some impressive videos on youtube is the next clapton, srv, hendrix, or whatever.
fuck
he has obviously sold his soul to the devil.
Wish I had thought of that.
He's a great guitar player...great feel and dynamics. Except his electric guitar stuff his tone sucks
I'll say it again...His acoustic stuff is amazing, but his tone is horrible when he's plugged in.
ted Nugent > AC/DC
his guitar tone isn't even hard rock...it's just bad.
