Ive always heard of him as the bad filmmaker and the weird comments he makes on people. But watching him now I feel him so much ! I just understand everything he says and he is actually so interesting ! I guess people dont like him because he's not a conventional person, he's really weird and this is what I'loving about him ! That's a bonus that he doesnt care at all about the fact that loads of people judge him and hate him, he actually enjoys it ! What a better lesson than "enjoy your life the way you want and dont give a shit about what people will say, just be yourself" !

Bobby Mina well said. I too previously used to hate him because society use to hate him. But after this interview I think he is one of the most practical guys. At least he practices what he preaches. He is not a hypocrite unlike others in the industry who live with a mask. Man this was one of the most hilarious interviews I have ever seen.
I think you haven't seen Satya, Shool, Company. These are the best movies of Bollywood and Satya is the best gangster movie after Wasseypur
RGV is much much ahead of his time. Fantastic person. Genuinely genuine. He said nothing worst about woman. This man can't be narrow in mind. He is a very very broad minded person . You can't compare with KJO. KJO is a human being and perfectly fit in the present era, but RGV is truly a MAN, a Genius.

Ramu has an insane level of understanding on life and philosophy. It will take us years to reach there. 50 to 60 years from now, when the world would have become a much smarter place, we will look back at his thoughts and realize that he was right all along. Until then, he will just be a laughing stock for all of us.

I have only seen RGV Sir's two movies so I don't know enough about his films though I heard that he was at another level and did lot for the industry but from his interview and whatever he is saying, I can say, the level of thinking this Man has that can't be understood by everyone. So, it's obvious for people to call him, Mad, Pervert or Whatever but his level of thinking and way of saying is quite straight forward and free from social norms and all.
I love this man. If anyone analyzes his body work, one can see honesty and fearlessness and that goes a long way . One can see elements of Takeshi Miike, Tarantino and Kitano in him.
I like Ramu ..... He is unique. That was a great interview.

Thank you Anupama for another great insightful interview! I wonder if Ramu's earlier movies (where he succeeded in articulating an inspiring cinematic vision) were less about him and more about the subject matter and actors than today. He seems so full of himself now that it seeps into everything around him. Ramu got people like me (commerce graduates) to think about making movies. He was the Anurag Kashyap of my generation. Such a shame that all he thinks about today is amusing, irritating than working on creating brilliant cinema. I guess he would argue that this is all a part of his personality.

When he says he likes to irritate, he means he wants people to think before following anything blindly, whether it is a person or religion. Of course, he is not going to say he is a philosopher who wants to reform the society. That's his attitude. Whatever he says, it is coming out of extremely clear understanding and clarity of the said topic. And if you closely follow his life, films and his interviews it will completely change your perspective towards life. It is sad that his Ramuism episodes are in Telugu. Somebody should redo it in English. I am sure he would love it. How about you Anupama?

The most entertaining interview ever on Film companion!!! Also,i must say,though he may be eccentric and mad,but Ram Gopal Verma is the only director in Indian cinema who brought about a mini revolution with path breaking films like Shiva,Satya,Company,Bhoot,Kaun,Shool,Ab tak chappan etc.Most of the realistic filmmakers today like Anurag kashyap,Vishal bharadwaj,Shimit amin,Sriram raghavan have all come from his camp.
8:46 just learn telugu and watch ramuism. Your perception towards life will change for sure. You can handle the things rationally. It is worth doing.

Anupama's got used to taking interviews that everyone's evoked to create say soemthing at least once which is an "ahaa, what brilliance, what passion!" moment of wonder. And here comes the twist of all interviews in her career, the one with this nonchalantly 'bindaas" guy evoking a lots of "ahaa" moments filled with shock and careless fun! Anupama being an experienced interviewer be like let me not prolong upon what he says that I don't have to regret more listening to stuff! LOL

Not really. Anurag Kashyap is the Quentin Tarantino of Bollywood. Ramuji is the mentor of Kashyap and many legendary filmmakers but Ramuji started making shitty movies after Aag. Ramuji has no doubt made masterpiece movies like Shiva, Satya and Company but Kashyap has made better movies like Gulaal, Dev D, Gangs Of Wasseypur, Black Friday, Paanch, No Smoking, Ugly and Raman Raghav 2.0
