People who say chess boom happened bcoz of samay, are the ones got to know chess during this covid situation. But chess boom does not only imply to the number of audience but the playing strength of Indian chess i.e, the number of top players which happend only and only bcoz of Vishy Anand. And as far as samay is concerned he is the reason for the boom of audience and he is doing a great job.
Ps: Samay got liking for chess bcoz of agadmator

    • @pranay306

chess got an audience, a seemingly "boring" sport for the common mind, Samay showed us how it can be more entertaining which resulted in more people getting inspired, chess enthusiasts were always there, but samay bought us common non entities(in chess), so he did make a difference, and as you said boom in audience, will result in more viewership and more popularity, why do you think more people aspire to be cricketers then any other sport in India?

@@pranay306 the real question is will the audience stay as it is, when samay leaves streaming after covid. Vishwanathan Anand is the reason chess is present in India. He is the first grandmaster from India and also a five-time World Champion and also a super Grandmaster crossing an Elo rating of 2800. I have heard his name since my childhood. I'm 19 now. When I was in Jr. Kg. I used to read the GK book where I read his name for the first time. He is the reason for inspiring youth to pursue chess as a career. Today the no. Of GMs you can see in India is simply because of him. Samay created a chess boom in India as new people joined in and he was entertaining them. The main reason is that people think Chess is a boring game. But after watching their streams and Sagar Sir's analysis and commentary we get entertainment along with Chess. Grandmasters like Vidit, Adhiban, Srinath, Anish, Radjabov make it more fun for people to understand Chess. This Chess boom is good for India as many kids will start following chess at an early age, so India can produce more chess players in future.

To all of you guys saying it is only Samay :) -->
Umm no. It is not just Samay. I understand Samay introduced a lot of people to chess but there are many people who got inspired by legends like Vishy sir especially most of the IMs ane GMs, they all are inspired mostly by Vishy sir after he became a champion which gave them the motivation to take chess as a career. Vishy really is still such an inspiration for young aspiring players and saying that it is only Samay is umm kinda kiddish. So yeah, this video would be perfect for most of us I guess.
And the influence by both of them is so different too. While Samay introduced a new audience to this beautiful game of chess , Vishy sir mostly inspired all the titled players to take chess a career because of which we have soo many GMs in our nation. Samay Raina has made chess which was not a spectator game and was considered boring as compared to all other sports , fun to watch , made it cool to play when we see our favourite comedian and youtuber playing it
and streaming games on TH-cam has many aspects that the game should be fast paced and interesting graphic so that there is constant engagement with the viewer's but streaming chess none of those things , its only the streamer who maintains the engagement and make it interesting

It is only becuz of samay that chess became hugely popular. If it not were for samay people would have been playing video games and chess's popularity would have actually decreased. Vishy anand might have brought in more chess players but samay raina brought in a huge audience. Again , If it not were for samay, there would only be 500 to maximum 1000 people watching chess. Sagar forgot one of the most important things which helped grow chess in India..you see, India has always had talents, exceptional talents..one major problem was the lack of resources for players and trainers alike, that those talents reach the topmost height...With the information explosion, it so happened that knowledge once privy to chess-heavy areas like the USSR or the USA to an extend, reached everywhere and it was only natural that a talent-heavy state like India benefitted from it..

    • @AnandSivaram22
      @AnandSivaram22 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Virchow Yes, my point was that in a country which has a high population and ergo a larger pool of talent, who wasn't privy to such an influx of information, info explosion definitely will play a bigger role...and it did..also I don't mean internet alone, even the '91 LPG helped grow Indian chess as the borders opened wider..

Samay made me play chess and watch it by making it entertaining. He is the reason that so many people watch the chess tournaments. Now we can watch the chess tournaments just with the commentary.
Samay also made so many GMs stream and he is the main reason for the chess boom according to me.
    Love you samay bhai❤️

    - One more reason is indian attachment with chess is naturally Bcz India is origin of chess
    - Indians are good in Arithmetic and mental games like Chaupar (was in mahabharat and initial stage of ludo. Chaupar -> Pachisi -> Parcheesi -> Ludo ), 12 goti, 16 goti, Chowka bhara, 3 tili etc.
    - I saw many good chess players of 60-70+ age group but they didn't participate in any tournament

Surely GM Viswanathan Anand is the first reason. But here I would like to bring all your attention the main reason for this rise is due to the parents who are supporting their children to realize their dream. Every tournament I visited I saw lot of parents who are patiently waiting outside the stadium while their children playing. The change in attitude of the parents is the main reason in my view. Salute to all mothers and fathers who are all supporting their children. I also saw the active participation and initiative of parents to conduct tournaments also.

All of india's success in the chess community could be traced back to one man and that is ofcourse Anand. Man was the first GM to come out of India in 1988 and is still our best player at the global stage. That says a lot about him. Anyone who makes that first breakthrough in any particular field is more special. Now, chess players have a path they know what they can achieve if they make it in chess. Anand without any chess culture in the country at one point , went on to become the world's best. That too in thr pre internet era
