    Excellent review. I have the old school vacuum sealer. The bag cost breakdown would be interesting; but, I have learned how to use the bags more efficiently.

      Yeah I cut mine down a lot of times and reuse the scraps if I can. Gotta make the best use of those things.

      I also have the food saver aka the old school model bought at the second hand store. It is not as nice as this Vevor model but it does the job. I would like to get Vevor someday.

    I've got an attachment for my old school Food Saver for sealing jars. That comes in handy. Also pro tip, don't forget to dehydrate your water before sealing. 😂🇺🇸✌️

    Cool unit! I am a vacuum sealer zealot but the size/weight/expense rule it out for me, and I've got my Foodsaver game dialed in. The HUGE advantage of that unit (other than sealing liquids) is the ability to seal your Mylar bags. You can really make a much longer-lived homemade MRE, and the fact that it is sealed also means the individual items aren't rattling around loose in the Mylar bag, and becoming damaged or opened.

    • @dadbudgetadventures
      @dadbudgetadventures  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Absolutely! It’s definitely not something for everyone but for the purposes you just stated it is perfect.

    The ability to vacuum seal liquids is very cool. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to seal fresh meat and other moist items and had the seal fail because of moisture

    • @dadbudgetadventures
      @dadbudgetadventures  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Same. It’s the single biggest frustration of vacuum sealing. And the idea of freezing it first can really be impractical.

    That is so cool! I love how you highlighted all the things non food related as well to make it more relevant. We have a Vevor 10 inch professional, stainless steel meat slicer, I have made my own bacon, smoked turkey and smoked ham and it’s a great product. I can only imagine this is just as well built.

    As we butcher the majority of our own meat and alot of other products I think this will be on my list as my next purchase. The smaller sealers just won't keep up when doing large batches of stuff. Thanks for the video!

      You won't regret it. Our last batch of 10lbs. of hamburger took only 45 minutes versus 4 times that with a foodsaver. Plus you can get thicker bags for 1/4 the price of the embossed bags necessary for the foodsaver type units. And you can still use it like a foodsaver if you want to assuming you still have the embossed type plastic. But the only reason I can think of to do that is for something that doesn't fit inside the chamber.

    I don't really need one, but the idea of sealing socks in a mylar bag just in case...so tempting. And their website is a rabbit hole I'm afraid to go down. I spent 10 minutes looking at their other stuff before I looked at the vacuum sealers.

    I have a difference vacuum chamber brand. I used it a lot the first couple of years, along with my freeze dryer. I need to start using it again, though. It's not as big as yours, so I keep it in the corner of the kitchen on top of a counter and it's there when I need it.

    Looks too big for my current apartment, and with my mom recently passing I don't have as much of a need for vacuum sealing, but I'll keep it in mind if I ever shack up with a special someone. I currently have a Ziploc vacuum sealer and the heat strips are closer to the edge, allowing me to get really fine and precise with the sealing lines. I also just get the rolls and cut and seal them into whatever size back I need.
    However, I have noticed that it doesn't vacuum well with bags that don't have two textured sides. So, I can see how the Vevor would do better by vacuuming outside the bag. It was fun to watch Boyle's Law in action.

      @@dadbudgetadventures you do have to research. Some say nothing but the big vacmaster... BUT... people are doing it just fine with the vevor. If the contents go off... the package will bulge. So... give it a couple weeks or a month before you pack it up. All food is precooked and chilled first... so leftovers may work.
