Outstanding REAL WORLD DIY video, complete with an example of a mistake that we all could have made. Thanks.

That was super helpful! Thank you! We also experience high winds so I am looking for ways to keep our umbrella from blowing to the neighbors year

This! TH-cam DIY videos make everything look so easy. I was laying some plastic edging yesterday. Ooops! the original brick patio had a sloping concrete edge, so the new edging would not fit. Throw away the edging I bought? Every single DIY project has been like this. Nothing goes as smooth as the videos. It must be me. 🤣

I'm building plywood Halloween decorations that I don't want to blow over, and this video was really helpful. And honest. And a lot like my projects. :) Thanks!

SAME PROBLEM with those default stands they just blow over and break the umbrella everytime!
I am looking for a way to put an anchor in cement that I can go back to and utilizie when i want to put in an umbralla.
Have found very little help with this so far on the internets. Probably will end up concreating a threaded cap and using a threaded pipe (like your pvc) that the umbrella stand slides either into or over.

Ok thanks for the tip! We purchased the PVC and cut in half at 45 degree angle and we were able to get about 16 inches into the ground. It took an hour. How did you do it? And how do you keep the umbrella from spinning?

I thought it was a good idea and going to try it how long is the pvc you used? When I do mine I'm planning on soaking the ground first to loosen the dirt and hoping it will make it easier to hammer in ..... (I have done this before and seems to work when I plan to do some digging) I thought I use Concrete Block on ground or tent stakes to tie down umbrellas, since I already have tent stakes I'll try them first. (they make different sizes of tent stakes and I have used in the pass construction nails for hard grounds)

Sorry you punctured your irrigation system but the idea is fantastic and I had the same idea. I was wondering how hard it was to get the PVC pipe into the ground. For one of my umbrellas I currently use an old tetherball galvanized pipe that’s already in the ground and flush with the cement so that works out perfectly. Anyway hoping to put this idea to use in a couple of places in my yard.

Just go to the weight section get a 50 lb plate and bolt it to the stand

You are crafty but got hosed on the repair..For about 10 min digging each hole and 2x flex pvc coupler maybe 10-15 ea and glue for 6 would be a simple fix. I got 2 of those pipes now that catch morning and day/ evening sunlight. Now she wants one on the porch so back to the stand. The pipes always weaken and not strong enough. Made a crude form and encased in 1 bag of concrete. Works awesome but now the umbrella isn't strong enough.😢Thinking Grandma's pully rope clothes line makes a lot of sense now😂

Sometimes being cheep will cost you more than if you had just took down the Umbrella when you're not using it.
