I think the Green River full proof is an interesting profile that doesn’t taste like anything else, including the single barrel picks. Just a brilliant strategy they have used to build their brand.
Just went to the Nashville barrel distillery, it's definitely worth picking up a bottle. All the green rivers are a must as well. Some more good ones are baby Jane, barrel foundation and kings bourbon and James e pepper BIB
Yep, this is why I try to get a bottle each time I go to CT, which is about once a month. I have only ever seen one bottle in upstate (Since it was first released) that was around MSRP.
Buffalo Trace is hard to beat with all that they offer, but. I'm really enjoying Baby Jane. JD SB BP. Elijah Craig BP B524. OF 117 high angels share. Ezra Brooks Cask Strength store pic.
13th Colony Rye has not lasted long on my shelf. It’s bottom shelf here in Texas, but my wife and I are running through the bottle quick. I still like OF 100 rye better though.
There are 6 stores in my area I know off the top of my head that have JD Barrel Proof, one of them being a pick. I have never once seen a JD Rye Barrel Proof. I've looked in many stores in three states. Had to order one online.
Just had my first sip of GRFP….was not impressed. BUT will give it another go. I had a knob store pick 120 proof and to ME they had similar taste. Keep up the great work fellas. Totally agree with all the other picks in this video.
Past on JDSBBP the other day here in Denver Colorado $59 bottle date 7/8/24 if it wasn't 100 ° here I would have pulled the trigger. Love the JD Bonded and JD Single Barrel Select
JD barrel proof bourbon is frequently on the shelves in the PA State Stores. Rye is seldom seen. I found one a couple of months ago and agree that it is better than the bourbon. One of the best bottles I currently have is not the best.
Yeah either of the jd sbbp bottles are an absolute must no matter the proof if it's your first one even. I put them off for bought a year but really it's so so much better than Ole number 7 as a neat pour!
This is a solid list. My problem is with Utah DABS. The only ones they offer us the privilege /s of buying is the JDSBBP rye and bourbon. Those two are fantastic!
Utah had Benchmark Bonded for a few months - now they quit carrying it ?? Love the discontinued items they have occasionally.....45% off msrp. Love Lee's Discount Liquor right across the border.....
I have a two-part question. Which one of these three ryes would you get, the Bardstown Origin, Still Austin, or Green River? If it's the Bardstown, am I better off sticking with the JDSBBP Rye, which I love and is about the same price?
That JDSBBP Rye is nowhere in Massachusetts or New Hampshire. I had to go to Maine to find mine. Thankfully you can drive to other states in 45 minutes in New England 😂😂 Also,I totally agree with you that the rye is better than the bourbon. I gave my buddy who only drinks beer a pour of the bourbon and he was ready to try it in his lawn mower.
The JDBP Bourbon is super easy to find in PA. JDBP Rye isn't only because they've only requested Stock for it once. Everyone got theirs and they've been sold out ever since. I've already killed two bottles of it and need a new one bad lmao
What was that last special ed bottle he pulled out at the end? Looks like Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. but I'm guessing you can't find that limited edition anywhere?
Michters rye and small batch…my daily reach. Priced right and very drinkable pours. Anyone I share with runs out and buys it. Woodford Reserve double Oaked another easy pick.
Distribution is a weird thing, and being a cynic, I tend to think it is borderline criminal. In my area of N Georgia, the JDBP and BP Rye are readily available, frequently barrel picks and always good. The Benchmark is getting hard to find, though the price isn't going up (here's a rumor to start ... last week the owner of a shop I frequent told me that he thinks they're going to be allocated next year. Maybe he was just trying to get me to buy more, but that's what he said). Two that I like that I don't know if you two have ever done a review on is Blue Note Juke Joint Whiskey and Riverset Rye, both from a Memphis bottler ... the bourbon is Kentucky distilled and the rye is Tennessee. They're often single barrel store picks in this area and almost always worth the roughly $40 price.
The JD Single Barrel Barrel Proofs are my favorite bottle that I can go to a store anytime and pick up
Sagamore, New Riff, Redwood Empire, Ben Holladay
I’ve got a Nashville Barrel 6 year old. I don’t think anyone would guess the juice is only 6 years. It tastes at least 10. Fantastic bottle.
Smoke Wagon Rye is one of my favorites. If you like cinnamon and pepper notes you’ll love this bottle.
Great video and recommendations. I've been lucky enough to try the majority of the bottles and you two are spot on.
I think the Green River full proof is an interesting profile that doesn’t taste like anything else, including the single barrel picks. Just a brilliant strategy they have used to build their brand.
Interesting list guys! Personally, I love the Pepper Decanter. All budget friendly picks too too - cheers 🥃
Just picked up JTS Brown Bonded. Wow for under $20 bucks it is pretty nice.

Old Dominick Cask Strength for $45 is fantastic
Haven’t seen the JD BP Rye yet in NJ but can find the BP Bourbon relatively easy now
Sagamore Double Oaked Rye, Baker's 7, and Peerless Double Oaked are all staples on the shelf now.
That Sagamores better than the Peerless imo.

Great review y'all!
Great list guys! Dig it!
Crittenden's Cut Above BIB out of south Mississippi, around $45-50.
JDBP rye & bourbon are two of the best bang for your buck products out there right now. They absolutely kill allocated bottles in blinds.
I got a bottle of tumbling dice 6 year old high rye barrel proof store pick that was fantastic. I would also recommend bardstown bib
upstate NY....rarely see JDBP rye, and when we do stores treat it as an allocated product and try selling it for 2x MSRP.
Yep, this is why I try to get a bottle each time I go to CT, which is about once a month. I have only ever seen one bottle in upstate (Since it was first released) that was around MSRP.
I found a little shop in Massachusetts that I frequent on my business trips.
Yeah, my go-to store in upstate NY only had a few JDBP Rye. I was fortunate to grab a few in VA at msrp.
Buffalo Trace is hard to beat with all that they offer, but. I'm really enjoying Baby Jane. JD SB BP. Elijah Craig BP B524. OF 117 high angels share. Ezra Brooks Cask Strength store pic.

In upstate NY, it's easier to find the JDBP Bourbon than the rye. But I agree, while they are both great, the rye is even better.
There are 6 stores in my area I know off the top of my head that have JD Barrel Proof, one of them being a pick. I have never once seen a JD Rye Barrel Proof. I've looked in many stores in three states. Had to order one online.
They go faster than the regular barrel proof by a wide margin, but they do sit in certain states.
@@noworldforeric thankfully I prefer the regular JDBP 😀
@@techarch1795 I haven't had it yet. The Rye is A++
The Benchmark bonded is my favorite of the lineup
James Pepper is my favorite hands down.
I am on the hunt for a Coy Hill, so I’m wondering which state I’d be more apt to finding it.
Just had my first sip of GRFP….was not impressed. BUT will give it another go. I had a knob store pick 120 proof and to ME they had similar taste. Keep up the great work fellas. Totally agree with all the other picks in this video.

I would add Old Forrester 1910
Still Austin Cask Strength is one of the best bangs for the Buck I’ve ever experienced.

This is why i buy most of my bourbon out of state. Occasionally will have a good deal like last month the Russell's reserve 10 year for $40.
Utah had Benchmark Bonded for a few months - now they quit carrying it ?? Love the discontinued items they have occasionally.....45% off msrp. Love Lee's Discount Liquor right across the border.....

In colorado jd bp bourb is everywhere, but the rye is still really uncommon
Green River full proof is phenomenal

Knob Creek Rye 10 is a now a shelf bourbon in my bar
great list
Costco in Florence couple weeks ago had Green River Full Proof for 39.99. I would pay the 60$ MSRP they ask of it in Ohio. It's that good.
The JDBP Bourbon is super easy to find in PA. JDBP Rye isn't only because they've only requested Stock for it once. Everyone got theirs and they've been sold out ever since. I've already killed two bottles of it and need a new one bad lmao
The JDSBBS rye is an excellent rye for the price and beats out the HH GG rye IMO
What was that last special ed bottle he pulled out at the end? Looks like Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. but I'm guessing you can't find that limited edition anywhere?
I think it was an old collectible decanter series from Old Crow.
In Wisconsin, the JDBP Rye is non existent. JDBPB is everywhere.
Really??? I was in Milwaukee two months ago and saw it everywhere. That's where I picked up my first bottle.
Michters rye and small batch…my daily reach. Priced right and very drinkable pours. Anyone I share with runs out and buys it. Woodford Reserve double Oaked another easy pick.
Anyone know anything about the decanter at the end of the vid?
It is not easier to find the JD rye in most places

Still debating a fake Robbie B account for trolling in the comments 😂
Didn’t you just make a ‘most disappointing bourbons’ video featuring 13 colony bourbon???
Yes what about it?
@@bourbonkingdomhow’s it on both lists, best and most disappointing?
@@osamashatat we are talking about the basic bourbon in this video. We actually say you should buy both of these over the allocated cask strength
@ thanks for clearing that up 👍
@osamashatat always sorry for any confusion on our part 🍻
Hey Zach - how many 23' Mitchers 10 B did you get total last year? Thanks!
