Since 2005, only Nalbandian (from guys like Hewitt, Roddick, Safin,....) can consistently challenge Federer everytime they met. For example the 05 Masters Final, this match, French Open semi later, 07 Madrid Final (beat the Big 3),.... tennis fans today should know more about him
@수시로 바뀌는 닉네임 Talent is your ability to do things no one else can, think about Federer and how he can make shots that seem impossible. Nalbandian is really talented but to say the most talented ever is an exageration. His serve is not that good, his slice and dropshot could be better and his volleys are not as good as Federer.
@@juanestebankruhsanmguel1960 ?When his game was on his volleys net play and drop shots were just as good and thats with him trainng less and his body being way worse.
Nalbandian was a great mover with incredible hand eye coordination. He swung that big ole spin friendly Yonnex weighted up to nearly 14 ounces. When he would get himself into position, he would crack that ball. A sweet ballstriker.
Those were the days of amazing tennis from both top players in every match, the long hair and bandana which showed the superiority of Roger over the rest, and the bull market of the world before Zidane's headbutt.
Thanks for posting. A great match. I forgot how strong & powerful Nalbandian was. Players like him and Nadal really ushered in the era of power clay tennis. Very exciting to watch.
Federer past his prime ( from age 33 onwards upto age 39 years) was very dangerous to prime Nadal of age 27 years to 33 years, winning 7 matches ( thrashed claydal) out of 8 matches . If federer had been playing after 39 years ( after year 2019) nadal can never win 3 slams , australian, wimbledon, us open at all. Imagine if most talented player fed had been same age as claydal/ djoker or 2-3 years younger to them, these 2 would not have won many slams, particularly australian open, wimbledon, us open. These 2 fellows slam count would have been less than 8 slams each
I remember this match mainly because Roger was so frustrated with himself that he lost his cool and threw his racket. It's also one of those Nalbandian matches where I feel like his, shall we say, less than stellar fitness cost him the match.. The match was almost 3 hours. And of course the next day Roger went out and lost a 5 hour 5-set classic to Nadal 5-7 in the 5th set tie-breaker.
One wonders how Federer's career and rivalry would have turned out differently if he had lost this match to Nalbandian to avoid losing a heartbreaker to Nadal the next day.
In my opinion, if the heartbreaker against Nadal didn't happen on that occasion, it would have happened the next time they met, or the time after that. Nadal nearly always got inside Federer's head when they were young.
I don't think 'disbelief' is the right word. More like frustration because he was spraying his own FH all match long and Nalbandian kept hitting wicked BHs. Roger has always said that Nalbandian had one of the best 2HB in tennis and you can see it in this match.
@@jollymolly2521 I believe it was something about the lines. It bounced weird to me, and it happened quite a lot in this match (16:15 for example). He was frustrated.
Nalbandian it's the only player ive seen outplay Federer and make him look ordinary, Even in matches he Lost like this one he conducted the rythim of the Game most of the times, it looks like he read Federer Game easily
David should have changed the Yonex to Head or Wilson or Babolat because the frame is not letting him do volley well yes the drop shot are good with Yonex Frame.
I really wish I had a better understanding of just what it was that kept Nalbandian at arms length from championship caliber tennis. I mean, his ability level was just scary, and for some time, he was the closest thing Nadal had to Kryptonite. It's just a shame, because it also kind of feeds into the whole "weak era" nonsense argument, because it leads many to underestimate Nalby. Any thoughts on this? Did he lack discipline? Consistency? Or, was Fed just too dominant? Naturally, that's my favorite argument. But, any other insights?
Federer biggest weakness is his arrogance , he always thought that he could beat anyone with his talent alone, if he had been more humble, he would've problaby created a plan in how to beat Nadal in clay but instead he thought he was too good and that with talent alone he could win
What a great find! . The Fed Nalbandian matches of this era are some of the most stylish tennis every played:)

What a tennis masterclass, from both.

@수시로 바뀌는 닉네임 I miss 2006 because I was an infant and didn't have to worry about anything 😂😂
@수시로 바뀌는 닉네임 I know I was joking around lol and 8th grade isn't really important to be honest.
9:44 The rarest gem in tennis 🤣👑
Guess you're talking about 10:01
Nalbandian did Federer get angry so many times, that speaks very well of Nalbandian actually..

Brilliant work again Raz. Epic battles between them since their junior days...
What a beautiful backhand that of Nalbandian.
Davide had equally lethal Fore/backhands....Gave Fed fits in Jr's too....Never got in phenomenal shape....Great player...underachiever...Great video..Thx!
Superb Tennis GOAT ROGER!
The fourth game of the third set is just a pure masterclass!
Thanks for posting. What a talent Nalbandian was. Best player never to win a slam.
For once you are right, I've really never seen this one!! Great job. :)
I loved Nalby. What a player.
An era when a #1 could be tested on multiple surfaces by more than one player.
Nalby was as dangerous to Fed as Rafa.
Definitely. Nalbandian had it all except a good serve
Old, fat and injured Nalby toyed with prime Nadal in 2009 and 2012.
That says it all.

Not sure it would have changed all that much but it would have spared us the agony of another 40-15 defeat I suppose.

Sir Roger federer golden legend in universal love you so much ❤❤❤
Roger's disbelieving hyena laugh at Nalbandian's amazing BH is hilarious

What a nervy, unsure, and at times fiery Federer 😅
David nalbandian when he played his best game was killer !
Be it against Nadal Federer or djokovic

Increíble lo que jugo Nalbandian también

I have a suggestion for new video. Make a compilation of weird, unique and different celebrations of players.
Good one

Not sure if it the video speed but even the clay court looks faster back in the day
I wish Nalbandian had won this match and met Nadal in the final. Rafa would've won the final but we could've seen some great points.

He lacked the discipline and he didn't like practicing, that's the reason for his inconsistency. He was just extremely talented
Nalbandian what a monster
Thats prime Federer. Beating Nalbandian in good form, on an off day
Rogerrr
I wanted nalb vs Nadal 2005-06 on clay
