For the people wondering where they can buy authentic Preloved or secondhand items I’ve heard several times that buying from Japan from Japanese resellers is a very good idea because in Japan you are not allowed to sell counterfeit items because they will get prosecuted to a very high extent in Japan, it’s against the law. You can find the most Japanese retailers on eBay. I hope this helps. I have never, bought secondhand myself. I always buy my items from the store. Please be sure to do your own research before buying anything online.😊❤
HELP! I recently sold my YSL toy loulou with VC and it got cancelled because it was 'non-compliant'. I sent it with the original authenticity card though. Now, they are keeping my bag in their possession!!! OMG they are stealing from me! I contacted them gazillion times via chat and email and they are not responding. I want to make my payment of 12USD in order to get my bag back but CHASE requires their address. They are not giving me their address for me to complete my payment and have my bag sent. I'm completely shocked now and I don't know what to do. Please help!!! Should I make a police report?
it seems so weird that they'll accuse sellers of not describing the condition correctly but then they also ship out products to buyers that did not match the description at all. they're clearly inconsistent so i wouldn't even bother... p.s. i laughed at the kering pun. have a great weekend, dacob.
Thank you Caleb! You too have a great weekend! Hope to see you in the chats in my livestream tomorrow! oh and its funny how a seller sends in a shoe from one brand in one size and then Vestiaire tells them its the wrong size and sends the shoe back to the seller but the seller receives a different brand of shoe and size all together... uhm.... chile... anyway...
An excellent vid - I have bought a few things from VC and so far, hasn’t had a problem. Though I will be super careful after hearing the comments from your audience.
Bought chanel sunglasses they are a new model therefore they should have the serial number engraved into the lense. The sunglasses did not have this and it was obvious from quality of item it was fake. I immediately flagged it to them and posted it back they have rechecked and again told me it is genuine which is absolutely not true and now they are relisting item for sale under my account. I have just sent them an email objecting to this. Furious!!!!
Hello Dacob, I just wanted to share my experience with VC so far, as a vintage collector: I would say that 85% of my purchases were positive. I have had issues with items reviewed as "very good" and they were in fact not in very good condition and sellers that were not sending the items. However, 2 notes: I collect designers that although famous and genious are not so sought after (so less or no fakes); second, because I am a collector for years in different platforms, etc, I am knowledgeable about the pieces, I know the sellers, and I speak French and Italian, etc, so it helps a lot. The advice I give to your audience is: do your homework, study, research, ask for extra photos, details, tags, etc. All the best! ❤️
I am exactly the same and I already shared my experience during the video. I've been a customer of formerly Vestiaire de Copines since 2009 or 2010 and I rarely had any problems. I had bought fakes once or twice but in both cases, the control service managed to find it on time before sending the purchase to me , got refunded + got a 15-30€ voucher. Me too, I had bought some items which were supposed to be "very good" but were actually "good". Every time I sent my request to the customer service, I got my reply in no time + a discount. I mostly buy menswear from less "mainstream" labels such as Ann Demeulmeester, Dries Van noten, Rick Owens, Yojhi Yamamoto, Paul Haardens, Sacai... Seriously who would waste time copying those? I also avoid buying coveted pieces, although got a Birkin once with a wonderful seller whom I am still physically in touch with. And you are right, everything relies on the communication with the seller. If he's not cooperative and on the defensive, I usually give up right away! BTW, what is your username on Vestiaire???? However, I have never tried to sell anything through Vestiaire, nor on any other type of platforms....
I received a Maison Margiela bag I bought via Vestiaire Collective last week. I paid for Vestiaire authentication for my own peace of mind. However when I received the item I have concerns, e.g. Name of company name printed on the inner tag is not the registered Margiela co name, but one which has import export trade with Russia (!) I contacted Vestiaire and they found no record of the authentication process and asked me to return it for a re-check. The item is a counterfeit and they should not be re-selling it (!)
Wow! Thats insane! They really don’t do their job properly do they? And to think you even paid extra for them to authenticate it… very unprofessional of them…
Hi Dacob, although I used To sell on Vc for a couple of years I cannot trust them anymore. Nowadays They are not able to acknowledge fake items from the real ones. The customer service is not existent , e-mail address are inactive, it takes forever to reach for somebody in a chat and they have no other answer than “sorry for the inconvenience.” On the other side the selling fees are rising.
Great video, thank you for sharing. I have left my comments on the first video actually. Anyway, from what it has been said and shared and also speaking from my own experience with VC, I would say that the most important thing is to know your products, to do your homework and to do extensive research before purchasing and don't trust the influencers because they might have been paid by VC.
I sold my saint laurent bag, the box was delivered to quality control center and after few hours they wrote me that authenticity card is missing. But it was not. I had picture of my box before I sent it. I sent photo to the agent and he wrote me that I need to wait 72 hours and if they will not find authenticity card, they will send my my bag to my adress. Terrible and very frustrating situation
Thanks Dacob for this very informative vid. I have purchased from VC a few times so far and have had positive experiences with these few purchases. However, from the feedback from your vid, I’ll certainly be super careful. Cheers
VC started out well but got too big and started introducing questionable practices. One that really turns me off is when they send me notifications that someone else has made an offer for a particular item, the seller has accepted the offer, and now they are asking me (who never made any offer for this particular bag) if I want to make a better offer (than that first person) and grab the bag. I feel that this is unfair to the person whose offer has allegedly already been accepted by the seller. If I put myself in that person's shoes, it means that once I suggest a buying price, VC goes fishing among other people who have viewed or liked that item, and proposes that they top my offer and grab the bag right out of my cart. I find that really bad business practice.
I have an experience as seller (three items) it makes sense of you are in a country for which shipping is sponsored. I am not and this caused many troubles. Customer care is a nightmare. Only by chat and they deflect dealing with the matter, offer a solution. Instead you get a standard “we understand and we are sorry” message over and over again. Customer care is not qualified. Sad because the idea behind is good, it’s just not working well. I was hoping that Kering buying a stake would improve customer service, until now it did not.
I bought from VC just a month ago, but I tested the waters first by buying something that was not all that popular, I treated it like I was buying from Ebay and I offered to the seller, a little bit lower than asking price. there is a Burberry coat that I am thinking of buying but I might not anymore after all these claims.
I will never understand why people trust these "Pre-loved" sites. I also don't understand why they trust these so called authenticators. Save your coins and go to the boutique. Half of the joy in purchasing luxury is the in-store experience. PERIOD !
I never had a bad experience with VC but I get INSANE deals from the RR. I NEVER buy pre loved CC because the dupes are near identical, for me it’s too difficult to authenticate
Yeah guys avoid the site at all costs.. they are sketchy AF. Had loads of bad experience with one being they took a new item I had sold and sent it back to me dirty and used… , but the last experience topped it all! Bought an item as new and unworn and clearly it was used and even the measurements didn’t match- I told them, but they dismissed me and said the item is in perfect condition and matches their quality standards. I uploaded my own pictures of the item to the site with my own description stating it as in good condition - not new- but 24 hours later they rejected the item now saying it is not authentic!! They are highly unprofessional and ridiculously arrogant.
I wanted to read all the comments so we all get a chance to share our experiences with each other and raise awareness as well as build a community together :)
@@SuperDacob very cool :) but sorry if my english isnt perfect when you had to read it, its not my main language cause im from germany ;) but i try my best ;)
I got an ankle length wool coat for 40£. It was listed as 'unsigned' so imagine my surprise when the tag said Sisley! You should have seen the state of the box it arrived in, I really thought I got scammed... The return/reselling process does NOT appeal to me, so I wanted to limit the spending to an amount I would not mind not recouping. All in all I'm very happy with my experience but I would be very wary of spending large amounts
This is so weird. I bought many bags from VC. I live in Europe. Usually it was totally fine. Only one time received a bag which didn't match the description, but the price was still fine. The authentication was fast, too.
Hi! I’m having an experience with them that’s becoming really annoying and stressful for me. If you want, somehow I could explain to you. I’m so disappointed!
I was browsing on VC yesterday and spotted an unworn Fendi baguette in fuchsia. I got so excited but the low price (950€ -> Original price is 2.200€) was already kind of a red flag. I then compared the photos on VC with the photos of the same model from the official Fendi website . I'm not a bag expert but even I could see straight away that the bag was fake because the stitching in the front and back was completely off and the logo inside the bag was missing as well. I then contacted customer service since there is no 'fake report' button and was hoping for them to take the bag down. It seemed like they didn't care because the bag is still up..I also tried to leave comments underneath the bag to warn people but they weren't even published by VC. The seller of the bag is still listed as 'trustworthy seller'...definitely won't be buying from them
So I know I am late to the Party but here are my two Cents on VC: my experiences on there have either been good or so so. In my opinion they are quite lenient when it comes to their definitions of "very good" or "unworn" items. They pass even when the condition is objectively more just "good" (Aka with visible signs of wear) or only acceptable. Fortunately I haven't run into any fakes yet or lost Money in other ways. That being said I only buy products I am knowledgeable on at VC, set a certain price limit, look out for reputable second Hand/Commission Shops that sell on there and only use PayPal.
Hi Super Dacob, very good point to discuss. I am an expert seller on Vestiare collective (VC), sold over 100 items I bought in boutiques. I was unfortunately scammed by a buyer (direct shipping), who told I shipped a fake. It was a nightmare to fix it with robot experts of VC, but I got money back and my expert badge. Since, I am not shipping directly anymore, sometimes I have to cancel sales, but do not want to have it repeated. I am as well a buyer with VC and never let it ship directly. Even if people question authentication process with VC, the latter still found not authentic around 20% of some items I bought!!!! Generally, I do not see any good alternatives yet to them. Unfortunately, I am still making buying mistakes...and have to sell.
I had a chat with VC ab direct shipment recently. I asked them how they could protect me, as a Seller, from the potential scams in case of direct shipment. Never got an answer. A lady (support) was repeating herself without looking into the essence of my question. With this direct shipment feature I don’t actually see any benefit on selling on VC as they don’t bear any responsibility and take a very high commission for literally doing nothing. I don’t want to sell any valuable item if it can be potentially substituted and the mediator (VC) will not even stand behind you.
@@pathos9864 I think they compensated me only because I had strong profile and I insisted during whole month that I was scammed and I had a copy of the original invoice, but I would not like to repeat this stress
Really late to this video. I've only came across vestiaire recently and was intrigued. However I've also noticed they price items way above actual retail price. A headband I was eyeing goes for 300+ in my currency, but the site is selling at 1.1k. that's 3x!! I've seen it on multiple occasions. Coupled with the fakes, I'm really disappointed

Sounds like a different world from my experience, seems that it will suck if you intend to buy luxury. Personally I use it to buy way more inexpensive stuff, and clothes more than I do bags, and it's wonderful for that, much more so that eBay or other random sites which are not specialized in clothes. In VC it's mostly stylish items because that's where the people who dress well flock.
Wow, VC must have changed in recent years. I bought from them twice many years ago, and although authentication and shipping took a long time, my two purchases arrived in original packaging and with original receipts. I would have loved to sell the Celine Luggage as it is too big for me. I have my eyes on a Hermès belt that they don’t make any more, but now I’m a bit scared. What I hate with VC is few and lousy photos and hard to get response from sellers that only gives a bare minimum of item information.
