    Man I just found your channel a couple days ago and man am I glad I did. I really enjoy your content.. I've watched all this year's videos but had to get more so watching your older videos.. thank you for taking such great care of your herd. Your videos are so informative and I've learned a lot by watching. And the calfing video man I wished you could keep them coming but I know only last a few months but could watch for days. Anyway just wanted to say thank you for being so kind. I'm really happy I found your channel..

    Just look at that shelter full of calves. Great at how they all have the instinct to seek shelter. As a kid, I would get in those calf pens and cuddle them. The 101 twin is sure a chunk. I like that your herd is quiet. Hope the storm wasn’t too bad, but your well prepared. Thanks for sharing. Take care.

      Nice, we didn't get much snow but the combination of wind with the snow was horrible. Worst storm this year.

    Sort of new to cattle, this spring will be our first calving season. What are the meds that you are administering to the newborns?

    • @TwinElmFarms
      @TwinElmFarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1ml of vitamin A&D 1ml selon-e. Toltrazurl pill for gut health, N- force 3 sprayed into the nose for respiratory. In saying all this, I'm not sure where you live and climate can play a roll into things. I suggest you talk to a local vet. Good luck,

    I have been feeding after 7pm for three years . Its a pain in the a$$ but the cows calve around 5 am to 7pm gives me a little time to sleep i do all the chores by myself. Maybe it won't work this year have you ever tried it. I'm a charolais breeder my wife bought some simmental cows I breed them to a charolais bull the nices calves . I just bought bought some more simmentals.

      @TwinElmFarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya we had s neighbor say the same thing with when we should feed. I'm not saying your wrong by any means cause we have thought of it, but it seems like we calve at any time of the day, most uncommon time is from 9am to noon. We just think if we have issues with feeding in the morning... we have the rest of the day to figure it out. Charolais and simmental cross, your calves must be beefy!

      @@TwinElmFarms i was a licensed welder for 33 years worked all day . So feeding at night was common but I took early retirement and farm full time . I like the cows better than welding . I sold 14 steers 3 weeks ago that were born in April . There weights were 920 lbs adverage and never had grain .

      @@mikebeattie3910 those are some nice weights. We can not get ours to that in that kinda time frame. We have only been into cattle for 5 years, each year we feel we are getting better. Our weights have definitely improved with crossing our shorthorn with a simmental bull.

    What is mortality rate so far?

    • @TwinElmFarms
      @TwinElmFarms  ปีที่แล้ว

      We had 4 cows abort their calves before calving started. And we had to put 1 calf down, we have had 4 sets of twins and they all made it. So including the cows that aborted, 126 calves out of 127 cows
